The Ojai playhouse movie theater shows the latest hits, and you can walk next door to the Jester restaurant for some music many nights a week. Grab some ice cream or frozen yogurt and walk through the park along the bike path or find a bench to rest on. Farmers Market, on sunday, is a bustling treasure with goodies from the valley and beyond.
Beat the heat at Lake Casitas, with boat and kayak rentals, fishing, and their own water park!! Ojai has a great network of trails for hiking and mountain biking as well. Route 33 is a gateway to a beautiful wilderness, and a stunning drive if you are not interested in exploring on foot. Ojai has 2 award winning golf courses.
The beach is just 12 miles away in beautiful Ventura, with many surf points to explore and tons of sand for lounging. The bike path even extends all the way to the beach so if you're up for a ride your destination can be rewarding!! Ventura also has many great restaurants and brew houses, movies, shopping, and more. Martha's apartment was a lovely home away from home for me for eight days! Martha was a warm, hospitable, and generous host wanting to make sure I had everything I needed. The place was spacious, clean, private and comfortable. Wonderful comfortable bed and great water pressure in shower. I felt very safe there and enjoyed the quiet of the neighborhood. Martha's dogs (which she offered to cage them if I was more comfortable ) were sweet personalities to welcome me home each day. There was a gate to manually open and close upon entering the property. Fruit trees abound (yummy!). I enjoyed the bright stars and clean air at night outside. Note to women: bring hair dryer and hair showering products.
We had a great visit. The town of Ojai is a real gem. Loved the Historical walk hosted by the local museum and we also visited a Olive Oil farm. Martha supplied us with lots of information on the town and we enjoyed our visit.
Thank You Martha.
Martha's place is a great place to stay in Ojai especially if you want a kitchen. Go to the Farmer's Market on Sunday (2 miles to the main part of town from Martha's) and bring back fresh produce, honey, cheese, etc. The house is quiet, roomy, and has a nice fenced yard that my dog enjoyed. Unfortunately, in December the fruit trees were full with not quite ripe fruit and no chicken eggs, but otherwise it's a great place to make yourself feel at home. Martha is nice and helpful if you need. I hope to go again and will tell my friends.
Great place to rest our heads after our family Christmas. The home is very lovely. The bed was very, very comfy and I loved cooking on your old refurbished stove.
We had a very nice time in Martha's guest house. It's in a great location, just around the corner from the Blue Iguana. There's a ton of space, with a backyard that was perfect for our dog.
We had a wonderful time in Martha's lovely apartment! Martha's apartment is so warm and homely! And Martha was such a lovely host! So friendly and kind! I highly recommend this apartment! Thanks Martha!!
My wife and I had a wonderful stay at Martha's place. It was very private and quiet and we loved the backyard full of fruit trees. The rooms were spacious and clean and the kitchen had all the utensils needed to make a great meal. There were several good restaurants in nearby downtown Ojai. Our daughter and her friend stayed with us one night in the living room on Martha's easy to blow up air mattresses. We spent the days at the nearby beaches in Ventura and we had a great romantic weekend.
Martha was absolutely fabulous. My friend and I went to Ojai to get a little writing done and a little playing done. Martha's place was so adorable and comfortable and she was SO warm-hearted and friendly. She's a bundle of joy. We loved her and the place so much that we are already planning to go back again soon... very soon!
We had a lovely time at Martha's place. It was immaculate and quiet. And bigger than we were expecting, easily accommodating a family of 4. We loved that the place was in a quiet neighborhood and close to downtown. A nice bonus were fresh eggs from Martha's chickens.
We would stay here again in a heartbeat.
