About this listing
Welcome to the beautiful Palos Verdes Peninsula! Located on the only true shoreline cliffs in LA, this is one of Southern California's most picturesque locations. Terranea Resort is immediately across the street, and a working lighthouse is nearby.
Enjoy one of the quietest and most beautiful locations in LA!
Sleeping arrangements are on a queen-size bed in a private room that locks from the inside only. A queen-size air mattress is also available and will fit into the same room, if requested. The bedroom has its own separate heating control.
You are welcome to freely use the kitchen and dining room, as well as a spacious living room that has a fireplace and balcony with view of the ocean. This is your home away from home, so feel free to use the entire place as if you were at home!
You will have access to secluded beaches and sea caves via cliff-side trails, as well as spectacular panoramic ocean views, a heated pool, Jacuzzi, two tanning decks, gas BBQ facilities, a tennis court, and an exercise room with machines, weights, and TVs. You can also enjoy the Terranea Resort restaurants, shops, and spa next door, just as if you were staying there!
Interaction with Guests
I am glad to help you with directions and advice on what to see and do in Los Angeles, and will do whatever I can to make your stay in LA totally amazing!
This is a non-smoking and non-drinking home with no pets, although pets are welcome here on short stays. Anywhere from one to three family members or guests may also be here when you arrive and/or throughout your stay.
LAX is about 17.3 miles away, downtown Los Angeles is about 32 miles, and Disneyland is about 40 miles. Attractions within about 10 miles include amazing tide pools, awesome diving at Veteran's Park in Redondo Beach, mountainside hiking trails, daily ferries to Catalina Island, Ports O'Call shops and restaurants, the Port of Los Angeles, World Cruise Center, a working lighthouse at Point Vicente, a whale watching and interpretive center, South Coast Botanic Gardens, the Korean Bell of Friendship and Pavilion, the Marine Mammal Care Center and Center for Marine Studies at Fort MacArthur, Portuguese Bend, and Terranea Resort.
You can sometimes be the only person on the beach at the tide pools at nearby Abalone Cove. Arrive before 9:00 a.m., and the footprints may be only from you and the sea birds! While there, it is possible to see urchins, anemones, starfish, crab, sea lions, octopus, and more. But much of the sea life is seen best at low tide, which changes on a daily basis, so be sure to check for low tide online before going. The diversity of sea life is amazing, and no guest ever regrets making time to go there. See photos in my Airbnb gallery. Parking is $5.00, but it is also close enough to walk.
Golf is available next door at The Links at Terranea, or 3.5 miles down the road at Trump National Golf Course. The Promenade on the Peninsula 50-store mall is also nearby, which includes the Ice Chalet skating rink.
Los Angeles is much more spread out than most cities, and public transportation here is poor when compared to other destinations like New York City. All LA beaches are a fair distance from downtown, and attractions like Disneyland and other places can be far from each other. Seeing everything here generally involves covering a lot of ground - it is just the nature of LA! For this reason, it is recommended that guests rent a car when staying here or anywhere in the Los Angeles area.
Other Things to Note
Continental breakfast is available (usually like cereal or toast, with oranges and/or yogurt, for example), and you are welcome to prepare breakfast from whatever is here at the time. For other meals, feel free to also mix your food with whatever is here at the time.
Laundry facilities are available on-site.
* Drinking and smoking are not allowed in the home, and smoking is strictly prohibited on the balcony because it drifts into neighboring apartments, but is possible in other outdoor areas. Partying doesn't really work well here because of how quiet it is outside at night. The courtyard becomes nearly completely silent most nights, so any noise can be heard easily by neighbors. Thanks for helping maintain this atmosphere, especially after 10:00 p.m. You will sleep well and be next to the ocean above sea cliffs.
* You may find evenings boring here if you do not have planned activities. This generally isn't a problem for guests who want to relax or who only need a place to sleep, but it is best to either have activities planned or to see being here in the evenings as time to unwind and relax in a quiet neighborhood by the beach. The pool and Jacuzzi are open from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. The exercise room is open 24 hours.
My parents and I had a great time at David's place. The room is very clean, everything is well organized. The neighborhood is beautiful and quiet, with walking distance to a great restaurant and awesome seashore cove park. David gave us a tour to the cove, we had a lot of fun and really enjoyed ourselves. Will definitely recommend to my friends and will choose to stay here if ever travelled to LA again.
David is a very nice and helpful host. He gave us a lots of good advice for local attractions and restaurants. The apt is just as described. We had our own key to go to the pool. Thanks David.
David is the best host ever! He was flexible with check-in time and have us a tour of the place even though it was 12 midnight. The place was really clean and convenient. Gorgeous view on our drive there too! Wish I could stay longer! Don't miss it!
David is such a friendly and hospitable person. Helped us carry out heavy luggages up the stairs, showed us where we can go, etc. The house is clean and it was overall a good experience.
I came with 3 friends for two nights at David's.
He was really friendly and helpful, he showed us really good places close to the apartment and the propriety is beautiful. He also gave us many tips and good spot to visit LA.
The room was big enough for 4 people, and the pool and jacuzzi are great.
David was very welcoming to us even if we arrive kind of early. His apartment was awesome, and neighborhood was very safe and beautiful.
About the Host, David
Traveling is a passion, especially to new places and anywhere with beaches! I always love to hear stories from fellow travelers who stay here. Life has been a wonderful, interesting ride - and Airbnb has made it so much more so!
Friends would probably say that I am easy to talk to, and fairly ambitious and motivated. I love to hike, jet ski on the ocean when I can, and keep in touch with friends. You will feel most comfortable with me if you like others who are people-oriented and enjoy positive conversation.
