Important cultural sites , are very close to our house , such as the incomparable beauty of Civitella del Tronto with its majestic fortress. It is the second largest in Europe with its 500 meters of length 25,000 square meters. was the last Bourbon fortress to fall on March (Phone number hidden by Airbnb) days after the proclamation of the Unification of Italy the Piedmontese troops after a siege that lasted 146 days. Destroyed and looted she was restored only a hundred years later. Today it is visited in all the grandeur of the streets, ramparts and walkways.The town of Campli lies at only 8km far from our ancient property. In the heart of the hilly lands of Teramo, the little town of Campli enshrines many treasures. History and culture, tradition and religious worship merge together in this enchanting town of unique artistic interest. Excavated remains of a near Campovalano testify that it has been inhabited ever since pre-Roman times. In the Middle Ages, under the dominion of the Farnese, the most flourishing period ever this little town Campli became the meeting point for various painters and artists coming from schools like the ones of Giotto and Raffaelo. They left masterpieces that still enrich the main monuments of the historical centre and of the neighbouring villages: the splendid (14th century), the Church of Saint Francis with adjoining convent (seat of the archaeological Museum), the 15th-century Convent of Saint Berardino and the Church dedicated to our Lady of Mercy. The historical centre of Campli offers also valuable examples of civil mediaeval and Renaissance style architecture, starting with the Casa del Medico and the Casa del Farmacista (respectively the Doctor's and the Chemist's Houses), the stately Palazzo Parlamentare and the Palazzo Farnese with its characteristic three-openings mullioned windows and round arches that form a beautiful colonnade. Perched on the hill that rises in front of the house, there is Ripe a very small town known as the input to guard the Cave of St. Michael the Archangel, or Cave of the Angel, one of the most important sites of the whole natural and archaeological Abruzzo interest. The cave is located in the beautiful valley between the two twin mountains in which the Salinello flows, it is one of the many karst caves that opens along the walls of the two mountains. The cave value it isn't given only by its beauty and its size, but also for its history. In fact, many archaeological investigations have uncovered many prehistoric remains, demonstrating a very intense use, so as to reinforce the argument is that beyond the housing use it was dedicated to fertility rites as well. The religious use of the cave is dated back to 'Middle Ages, with the presence of two altars, one of them is four meters high and the other with a thirteenth century inscription.
