If you plan to come to Romania you definitely should not miss Bucovina, an old historic area which assembles the most famous monasteries of the country. At our house you will not be disappointed with the delicious cooking, and quiet and comfortable rooms and with the rustic town of Campulung itself!
Campulung makes an excellent base for exploring the Rarau and Giumalau mountains and the neighboring monasteries without staying in overpriced accommodations in Gura Humorului or Suceava. Campulung is also very beautiful located, with many traditional wooden houses and a lifestyle that has been lost in other parts of Europe.
The room and bathroom were lovely and clean. Gabriela was very forthcoming with advice about what to do in the area and making the most of my time there. I loved visiting the painted monasteries - especially Sucevita. Thank you for the suggestion to drive the Rarau route back - it was stunning despite the weather! Thank you also for the food and cups of tea and for putting the heater in my room.
We had a great couple of days with Gabriela (host Tudor's mother) and her sister Albumitza. They took excellent care of us, from providing the most amazing breakfasts and dinners to surprising us with a very generous picnic basket on the day we planned to tour the painted monasteries. Gabriela was also an enormous help in guiding us towards the most worthwhile experiences in the area. We loved this area. Special thanks to these two lovely, enthusiastic and generous woman.
Just tip - it's worth noting that you should follow the host's directions for getting to this delightful airbnb - your GPS is likely to lead you astray!
Tudor and Agna made me feel so welcome at this charming Bucovina B&B, giving me a personal tour of the sites and monasteries in the region and even leaving their own bike for me to use during my stay. And as another guest mentioned, the food here is amazing! Everything from the bread to the butter is homemade, and all of the vegetables come straight from their own back garden. For the price, there's no better place to get some quality R&R! Thanks guys.
If you want to visit the magnificent painted churches and also have a relaxing place to stay, don't pass this pension up. The house is inviting, the family and all the people there are friendly and speak several languages, the town is interesting with an ethnographic museum, a wood museum, and many interesting churches, the mountains give fresh, cool air and relaxing views, the back roads are full of scenes of rural life, and for you bargain-hunters there are at least 15 used clothing stores within walking distance....what fun!!!! But the most amazing thing about this guest house is the food...there is a large professional kitchen, on-site vegetable garden and poultry, and many of the products you will be served at your reasonably priced meals....cheese, butter, jams, fruit brandy...have been made there at the house. The hostess, Gabriela, will do anything for you. She brought me a room heater when I said I was cold, changed my mattress when I said the other was too hard, washed all my clothes at no charge, took me to the station and other places around town, and was like a friend. If I had stayed there longer, and could speak a bit of Romanian, I know I would have felt like part of the family. The house goes on and on, with pleasant areas...,porches, dining hall, yard with swing...where you can just hang out and enjoy nature. There's a dog, a steam in front, a little bridge, it's like a place from the past but with modern comforts. I didn't have a car and I'm on a budget but I was able to get around fine and have a lot of great experiences in this region. I'm hoping to come back in the future.
Dor de Bucovina is a cozy place in an amazing region of Romenia and Tudor's family was very kind! For a decent price, his mom drove us to beautiful painted churches and offered us delicious meals, prepared with fresh ingredients produced by them. Recommended!
We had a superb stay here. It is a perfect base for visiting Moldavia and its wonderful painted monasteries. Gabriella was a fantastic hostess. She helped plan our itinerary and fed us the most amazing natural, fresh local food. Highly recommended!
Une excellente équipe pour vous accueillir, gentillesse, gaîté et hospitalité font de ce lieu une adresse hautement recommandable !
