Sanctuary Garden Bed & Breakfast

Bed & Breakfast - Private room · Gregg Road, Putney, VT 05346, United States

The Space

Sanctuary, our home, is filled with light and plants and art. There are views of nature out of all of the many large windows. The hand-painted walls give a feeling of warmth and coziness to the spacious rooms with slanting high ceilings.

Our lovely guest room is off of the living room and not near other bedrooms. It has a large window onto the garden, as well as sliding glass doors that open onto your private deck overlooking our small garden pond. There is a half-bath in the guest room, and the full bath with a great shower and large oval bathtub is next door to your room. You are welcome to relax in our living room. Guests particularly like to read or do yoga on the raised platform at the far end of the living room.

Sanctuary is situated in the forest just above the tiny village of Westminster West. The villages of Putney and Saxtons River are 7 and 5 miles away, and provide interesting restaurants, pubs, a food coop, a village market and general store, terrific live music of all kinds. The Saxtons River Fourth of July parade is legendary as the best small-town parade ever! Putney has a farmers' market on Sunday. This is the best of Vermont! Oh, and we are just 25 minutes from Brattleboro, a vibrant, eclectic, art-filled town of 13,000.

The gardens at Sanctuary are really amazing. It is an oasis of flowers and veggies in the middle of a tall deciduous forest. Fairies live here, or so say our young friends who sometimes build fairy houses. Lots of frogs, toads, and birds for sure.

Quiet, beautiful, restful, heartful, Amazing local organic breakfasts, cooked to order and mostly from our garden and our neighbors farms. Special diets cheerfully accommodated!

  • Our one night stay was absolutely delightful in every way. Gorgeous location, warm and open hearted hosts, a home of serenity and love, not to mention the breakfast was a trip highlight! Township was lovely too with a fantastic community run wholefood restaurant amongst other gems. Highly recommended.

  • I'd give 6 stars if I could: it simply doesn't get any better than this. Caitlin and Peter are amazing hosts, and I can't wait to see them again. Even their pets are charming.

  • Lovely kind hosts and a delicious breakfast! Caitlin was very helpful in managing a special request regarding a cat allergy and we had no problems whatsoever. I wish we could have stayed more than one night. Thanks again!

Suzanne, there is a special place in our hearts for you.

  • Caitlin & Peter's Sanctuary is a truly beautiful and restful place. Our bedroom, with a private half-bath, had a sliding door that opened onto a lily pond with multiple frogs, who sang to us all night. The garden is lovely, and the house is full of light -- many windows and places to sit and reflect. Caitlin & Peter make a great breakfast, and their two cats, Maya & Sasha, are wonderful entertainment! We so enjoyed their company (Caitlyn & Peter, that is!), and hated to leave. We'll be back!

  • If you are looking from nature, kindness and organic, this is your house. 10 min from Putney, this house surrounded by trees and nature is owned by 2 wonderful hosts, Caitlin and Peter. You won't hear anything but birds and frogs, breathe only fresh air, and eat this wonderful organic breakfast. Highly recommended.

  • Caitlin and Peter are very warm, friendly hosts, and their place is absolutely beautiful. It truly is a sanctuary, and the gardens are gorgeous! We had wonderful conversations with Caitlin and Peter, and delicious homemade (and homegrown) meals prepared with love.

  • We looked into the Sanctuary for a quick overnight stay to enjoy a weekend trip in Vermont. Our hosts Caitlin and Peter were amazing, waiting up for us as we traveled in from NYC. It was such a nice touch to arrive safely to have them greet us & offer us a homemade cooked meal. We were then given a short tour & shown our very comfortable room with our own half bathroom. The accommodation was a great value for the price. Breakfast was very good, and the fellowship with Caitlin & Peter was fantastic. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and will be back soon.

The Sanctuary
I live in a magical forest in Vermont, surrounded by flower and vegetable gardens. We have 11 different kinds of flowers blooming in our sunroom in December. I paint and dance. I am a wonderful cook. My husband is a deep thinker. Our practice is living as love.
