We really, really enjoyed our stay at The Loft at East Ferry. We had a very enthusiastic and warm welcome and Catherine made sure we had everything we needed. The room was amazing , very comfortable and extremely spacious. The king size bed was even more comfortable than our own at home! It included a really big separate sitting area where we could sit and read and just chill out. The ensuite was more like a wet room really and very clean.
The breakfast room was tastefully decorated with access to the garden through French doors where we had our morning coffee. Our breakfast was served by our charming hostess Catherine and included a range of cereals, freshly made bread and local jams. We had a full Irish Breakfast and I loved the freshly laid eggs from the hens down the road!
The house is in a great location overlooking the estuary with fabulous views and is still only 15 minutes drive from Middleton. There is a very large garden including several seating areas. We enjoyed a drink in the evening sunshine while watching the windsurfers and the views of Cork Harbour.
We enjoyed some lovely walks including the forest walk to the ruined castle tower at Rostellan directly across the bay from the house. The local pub Murph’s is within a comfortable walking distance and we had a really fun evening there with good food and pints! The picturesque beach at Shanagarry and pretty fishing village of Ballycotton are also short drive away. This is a great base for touring East Cork.
We hope to come back some day and really recommend a stay here.
Catherine and her partner Barry are natives of Dublin, who now live by the shore on Cork Harbour, they love to travel.equally they love to sit at the bottom of the garden, with a glass of wine, enjoying the tranquil waters of Cork Harbour.
