Welcome to Yui Valley !

A refreshing stop between Tokyo and Kyoto. In the countryside, a simple farmers traditional house surrounded by Lush Green Mountains, Bamboo forests, Rivers and Tea Fields. Outside the usual tourist path, discover the real countryside of Japan.

Come to relax and enjoy different activities:
Hiking with view of Mt. Fuji, walk crossing Bamboo groves and tea fields, Green Tea ceremony, Hot spring, Bicycles, Bamboo workshop, Shiatsu, Acupuncture treatment or River Dipping.

The space
We are located in Shizuoka, between Tokyo and Kyoto , so the access here is easy and comfortable.

We rescued an abandoned Japanese traditional house and self-renovated it using largely second hand material. It is not a modern home but it has a rustic charm and historical feeling, offering a warm, inviting space with a unique and thoughtful style.

Sara, Daisuke’s partner, also helps with hosting. She works part-time online, so she’s not always available—but she loves helping out and meeting guests whenever she can.

We are looking forward to meeting and hosting you!

The traditional house is over 100 years old. Before the renovation, the house was abandoned for 7 years. It is not a luxury home. We renovated ourselves and tried to keep the original way as much as possible. So you can feel time goes back to the old Japanese period.

The house is 85 square meters and is a wooden structure, elevated slightly off the ground. Sliding paper doors are used in place of walls. The floor is Tatami floor.

There are 2 big living rooms, 3 bedrooms, kitchen, toilet, shower/ bathroom and an outside deck. The house also has a small charming garden.

While you are here, I will stay in the house just next door.

Also just next to the house, I do bamboo workshops, please book 2 weeks before if you are interested in the workshop (you can check in our Airbnb Bamboo Workshop Guidebook).

River - beside the house is a small fresh water river which sounds lovely, very refreshing to dip in during the hot summer.

*Nature - we live in the countryside very close with nature.
You will see all kinds of insects. You might see huntsman spiders in the house, these spiders are big but harmless.

* There is two air conditioners. One AC is in the living room and one is in bedroom 2. With correctly placed fans, the cool or warm air can flow into the other rooms.

* Children - We cannot host children under 5years old. Thank you for your understanding, and we are sorry for any inconvenience.

*No TV

* Winter- We are closed every year during winter from about the middle of December to the middle of March, as it's too cold. Sorry for this.

*Entry to bedroom 3 is from the deck or from bedroom 2.

*When using the shower you can't use the kitchen water.

*Typhoons : From summer to autumn, there is a typhoon season in Japan, and the house is behind a mountain, so we are really exposed to the risks of typhoons.

So for security reasons, in the event of a typhoon warning, we may ask you to cancel the reservations from your side. We are so sorry, and we hope you will understand.

Guest access
While staying here the house is all yours.

Day Trips

On top of accommodation, we thought about nice ways for you to spend your time here, and we wrote different options for day trips. For all places you can go by bus, bicycle or car.

Trips Option:

1. Tamatori Loop Walk – It’s our most popular hike and is about a 2-hour walk starting from the house.

The hike follows a loop and offers many viewpoints of the surrounding mountains, you will walk by tea plantations and
through our bamboo forest. The hike is on a concrete road and has a 20-minute steep uphill section.

2. Mount Fuji View Hike– It’s a beautiful hiking trail up Mountain Bikuishi.

You will walk along a water stream, huge stone rocks, across bamboo forest and cider forest. At the top of the hiking trail, you can see Fuji Mountain. (Important! - the weather conditions may block the view and in the summertime its more difficult to see Fuji).

Along the walk, there are beautiful places for a picnic. At the top, there are toilets and picnic tables. Most guests say that the difficulty level from 1 to 10 is 7. The hike is very uphill and steep. Coming down is harder as the path can be slippery sometimes. The hike is about 90 minutes up and 60 minutes down.

Public Transportation:
- 10 min - walk from our house to the bus station
- 10 min - bus ride
- 30 min – walk from the bus stop to the entrance of the hiking trail
- The hike will take about 90 minutes. The way back is down the same path you came up with and takes 60 minutes until the exit gate.

3. Traditional Japanese Tea Ceremony and Gardens

The garden has fishponds, green tea ice cream and a local shop that sells local green tea and snacks. In the garden there is a Tea House in the middle of a water pond. Here you can enjoy a Traditional Green Tea Ceremony (booking is required one day prior). Or you can also enjoy a traditional Green tea with traditional sweets without the ceremony. In the pond, there are also beautiful Coy fish you can purchase food for a feed. Nearby there are a few restaurants where you can enjoy lunch.

Fee: Tea ceremony - 510 yen, Garden no entry fee.

Public Transport:
- 10 min - walk from house to the bus station
- 15 min bus ride to gardens

4. Japanese Local Hot Springs

At the Hot Springs, there are two indoor hot springs, a sauna room, a relaxation room and a good restaurant. They are open from 9 am till 9 pm and closed on Mondays.

(Website on guidebooks)

Fee: 510 yen for adult.

*This hot spring allows tattoos.

The drive to the Hot Spring goes through beautiful mountain roads where you can enjoy amazing views.

5. Bicycle Ride through Local Nature

With our 6-speed bikes enjoy a bike ride through our local area where you’ll be able to see green tea fields, rivers, bamboo forests, pine tree forests, rice fields and more. There is also a nice location you stop by to have lunch. There are some steep uphill sections but manageable. It’s about a 2-hour ride all together.

Fee: Bike rental is 1000 yen per bicycle for one day.

6. Dailabo Viewpoint of Mount Fuji

This is another viewpoint where you can see a lovely view of Mount Fuji (Important! - the weather conditions may block the view). You can enjoy the surrounding area and drive there.

7. Kashibaya - Edo Period Traditional Japanese House

A large traditional house built 180 years ago and used to be a guest house for Samurai travellers on the busy road from Tokyo to Kyoto. There are also very good restaurants for lunch there and they serve traditional Japanese food.

8. Traditional Hand-Craft Arts Centre

This centre offers nine kinds of workshops including Hand-dyeing (not natural colour), Bamboo and Pottery. It’s a nice place for a first experience but it’s not a deep workshop.

The centre opens every day, you can drop in and each workshop takes about 60-90 minutes. There are good Japanese restaurants, a tea room and a gallery.

- 10 min walk - house to bus station
- 50 min bus ride – you need to take two different buses
