The environmentally friendly concept is represented by unique front wall design in the living area and semi open bathroom to the lush trees at the back part. This allows air to circulate freely and provides a cool breeze all the time that create a nice place to live which seamlessly gives way to the natural surroundings.
Our mezzanine style building provides sufficient space for couple, yet ample room for privacy. A big open window from the bedroom upstairs permits the view to the lush trees below. Watching the sky changes color first thing in the morning will be an unforgettable experience.
Chambre très sympathique a 10min du centre d'Ubud.
L'hôte n'était pas la, mais la dame qui nous a reçue était a notre écoute et serviable.
Douche, cuisine, salon et chambre agréables.
This is a DARLING space. I loved it, so much I'm going back. It has plenty of room, the most spacious I've been in since visiting Bali, and it's right in the middle of Ubud, just up the road from Seniman Coffee House, a local favorite. The space is tucked away from the hustle and bustle, which makes it feel quiet and homey, even though it's right in Ubud.
I love the upstairs loft and the extra 1/2 bath in the loft so you don't have to go downstairs in the night to go to the restroom.
Love the open air bath, it feels like taking a shower in nature. The kitchen is spacious and you could actually prepare meals here if desired. It's stocked with dishes and fridge, which is quite handy.
There's a living room area and since it faces the open space in front, there's a wonderful breeze that cools the whole space. It's charming.
The loft is very spacey and we enjoyed a quiet, comfortable respite from central Ubud. Sri is very helpful and takes wonderful care of the place! Definitely recommend getting a scooter as walking into town can take 15-20 minutes.
Thanks Maria for a seamless holiday for my mother. Maria responded to my queries very quickly and organised space for my mum after her previous accommodation was inadequate. It was great to have peace of mind that mum was comfortable and happy.
This home is a lovely retreat from the streets of Ubud. Well located a short ride away from town and shops etc the house provided us with a wonderful sanctuary to relax and unwind in. The place was well equipped and comfy, and we will come back and stay again.
TLDR; This place is really nice. Good location that is not in the hustle and bustle of Ubud but not too far to justify taking taxis to and from. It is big enough for 2 people and possibly more. The kitchen is quite handy, the bed is comfortable and the view out of the window is quite nice. You dont need an alarm because at 4am, Steve the Cock will wake you up with ease. Remember, semi open plan means noises amplify.
But here's the thing: it a semi-open studio which means lots of visitors will show up throughout the day. I am talking abut bugs, insects and geckos. Whilst it took me a day or 2 to get used to that, I was fine with it. Cover up when you go to sleep and you are fine.
BUT, 2 nights before I checked out I woke up middle of the night to a fist size spider crawling on my chest. Now, this is not a small adorable spider, this is FIST SIZE fuzzy looking black thing. I ended up spending the night snoozing on and off on the couch downstairs until Maria put me in a different room which was good.
Aside from that, the place is lovely and so are Maria, Sri and Gede. The place was clean and cleaned up every day. I asked for my laundry to be done which they arranged for. I had arranged with Maria for airport pickup but driver never showed up, was not a big deal as I grabbed one form the airport and was same price.
The walk from the house to the main road is about 10 minutes. Nice walk and fairly ok. At night, it is a bit scary if you are alone as some dogs (and there is loads of them) will bark at you for no reason. They are mostly harmless but still, kinda scary.
Bottom line is: book if you are ok with having to deal with the occasional spider, this is the best place your money can buy (or rent really).
Experience with host was satisfactory. Listing described the place correctly. The neighborhood was quiet and very good location.
Secret Garden suited us exactly. We weren't looking for a lot of interaction with owners or other guests. We wanted a location close to center of Ubud yet quiet, with enough room that we weren't stuck in one little room for a week. The loft was exactly the right space for us, very nice, with small useful kitchen, convenient 1 1/2 baths, consistent hot shower, nice air circulation, basically very comfortable.
Really glad that you like the place and suited all your need. I'm still travelling at the moment, and just got a proper internet connection to write back to you. Sorry for not being able to meet and greet you in person. Thank you very much for your input and looking forward to host you again. All the best.
