The environmentally friendly concept is represented by unique front wall design in the living area and semi open bathroom to the lush trees at the back part. Our mezzanine style building provides sufficient space for couple, yet ample room for privacy. A big open window from the bedroom upstairs permits the view to the lush trees below. Watching the sky changes color first thing in the morning will be an unforgettable experience.

Overall Guest Satisfaction

Check In
  • Secret Garden is a lovely private hideaway that is far enough from the crowds to be quiet, but close enough to be within easy walking distance.

Maria and the housekeeper, Sri, were incredibly accommodating and went out of their way to help with any issues that we had.

The kitchen and facilities were very simple and suitable for only the most basic of meals. There's also no toaster - although Maria kindly lent us hers. Internet was patchy, but there are a couple of different connection options (USB modem or wireless) and connectivity issues were similar to the rest of Bali.

All in all a great stay. Thank you!

  • My fiance and I stayed here for 5 nights and we had an incredible experience. The loft is extremely ventilated with air flowing right through, so it is very cool at night. There is no air-conditioning, because there is no need for one. The downside is that it can get a little buggy at times; but there (email hidden) around the bed, so it's really not a big deal. The sounds of nature put us to sleep like babies. The loft was cosy; it felt like home for us.

The road, Jalan Sriwedari, where the loft is located along, has nice food places like Seniman Coffee Studio, Dapur Bunda, and Warung Schnitzel. The loft is also a leisurely walk away (about 10-15min) from the main road in Ubud (Jalan Raya Ubud), where there are many shops and restaurants.

Sri, the housekeeper, is a really nice local lady who kept the loft impeccably clean daily. She was very accommodating, even when we knocked on her door at 3am when the electricity went out (not an issue with the loft, but rather the overall supply around the area - it came back in 10min so no worries there). Also, Secret Garden uses a bioseptic tank, so be mindful not to throw toilet paper into the toilet bowl. We didn't know this on the first day and I bet we gave Sri a lot of trouble. Sorry Sri!

Maria also helped us arrange for airport transfer and the pick-ups went smoothly.
We met Maria on our last day there and she gave us the biggest wave before we left!

We'll definitely return when we visit Ubud again. Thanks for your hospitality :)

  • It was a wonderful, welcoming stay. It was very clean, I was well taken care of and slept great. It was so quiet, and a nice walk into town.

  • Lovely private rooms north of Ubud! Maria was very nice and helpful. I wasn't (email hidden) bar (pay your way) but I made good use of it (nice beer, mmm).
The walls were a little bit thin as I could hear the neighbours TV on (at least not late).
Actually quite a nice little spot that I would recommend to people who are self sufficient and don't rely on being pampered. Thanks maria!

  • Beautiful and airy space with two levels. However, be warned that it is almost like camping in the kitchen and outdoor bathroom. There is a lovely feeling in the loft space when thundershowers happen. There is awesome airflow through the unit, so air conditioning is hardly needed.

This was our first rental in Bali so we are still getting used to indoor/outdoor life. Looking out into the jungle was simply awesome.

The woman Sri who helped us settle in and coordinated our laundry service was wonderful! She also had a scooter brought to our front door.

  • A beautiful and peaceful place in Ubud, for real Nature lover.

  • Maria's place is as described. I really like the place as it's not right smack in the center of Ubud, and just a short ride away (2 minutes motorbike ride) from the center. It's really quiet and it's what I needed after spending some time in Kuta before coming to Ubud. I didn't get a chance to meet Maria, but her friend, Sri, was super helpful and got us everything that my friends and I needed during our stay. The house is also pretty close to Seniman Cafe and it has really good coffee, and it's a must try when you are in Ubud! Thank you, Maria and Sri!

  • The location is nice and i like the idea about the circulating breeze through the loft. But as the loft is surrounded by forest and ricepaddies mosquitos are part of the deal. But this is true for nearly all accommodations in Ubud.
From the loft it is a nice 15 minutes walk to the center of Ubud. So you are close but still in a more quiet part of Ubud.

  • Secred Gadren Loft have great location! Near Ubud main road ( jalan raya ubud) (10 min by walk, 3 min by bike), were you can find many restaurants, local souvenirs shops with jewelery, clothes and handmade things.
Loft is very organic and breathy, near rice fields. Maria help us with transfer from airport, everything was good. Thanks for Maria!
