Beautifully renovated little house/apartment in the quaint village of Annestown in the sunny south east of Ireland. If you are looking for a quiet and relaxing retreat to commune with nature and explore the meandering coastline this is the ideal place to come. Breathtaking cliff walks and lots of hidden beaches to explore. The apartment is across the road from the beach in the village. The building itself is quite old but was recently renovated and features stone walls, high ceilings and lots of sunlight. It has its own little courtyard out front. The courtyard separates the apartment from a 300 year old thatched house. The sleepy villages of Annestown is a cluster of little houses and a church a few hundred meters from the beach. There is no shop or pub but both can be obtained in the nearby villages of Dunhill and Fenor where there are lovely Irish pubs with music and food. There is a stunning nature walk along a little boreen by the River Anne to Dunhill Castle. Great historical sites nearby and the ruins of the old Copper Mines in Bonmahon. A few kilometres away is the fishing harbor of Boatstrand which is also a great place for swimming. Annestown is a also a popular surf spot.
The Copper Coast was declared a European Geopark in 2001 and a UNESCO Global Geopark in 2004.
Mary was a wonderful host and a great communicator. She was always responsive with directions and was accommodative of my late arrival. Her space is the perfect quiet little hideaway by the water, I only wish we'd have had more time to enjoy the area before heading home!
Mary's place was ideal for a nice, relaxing stay in a beautiful part of Ireland. Mary was extremely accommodating and responsive throughout my planning and stay. She even left some freshly baked treats for us. I highly recommend this cottage if you're looking for a quiet place to stay on the Copper Coast.
What a great stay! The place is cosy and very well located. Mary is a lovely host! The direction to get there were very clear, and she gave me some precious tips so I could fully enjoy my weekend there. Thank you very much Mary!
Mary's place--well, I don't want to say too much about how wonderful it is because maybe too many people will come! It did feel magical, just across the street are the cliffs and coast. Mary's is a great place if you are looking for quiet retreat from city life. Only the sea and the crows are making noise. Mary was easy to communicate with and very accomodating--ours was even a last minute booking. I would stay at Mary's again. You need a car to get around, but within 10 minutes drive are pubs and also a very nice restaurant. We did some light cooking as well. Thanks Mary!
We had a nice stay at Mary's place: the beach is just across the road and there are beautiful walks over the cliffs with wonderful landscapes. Mary was nice and helpful and we would like to come back for another weekend!
We loved our stay at the cottage! It was small, but had everything we needed (even a washer/dryer) and was cozy. The location is amazing, as the sea is just a short walk away. My husband and I walked the coastline in the evening around sunset and it was breathtaking. I was sad that we only stayed one night. This would be a great place to just go and relax and get away from it all. There are some neat towns/villages around to explore. We went and found the old castle that's not far away and enjoyed that too.
Magical home by the Sea was just that, beautiful, and the host was a delight with much support and suggestions. I would go back whenever I return to Ireland.
Thank you Mary for this wonderful time we spent at your place!
The reservation was canceled the day before arrival. This is an automated posting.
My review might not be the typical one, as I never got to actually stay at Mary's place! On day 2 of my Ireland trip I fell very ill and couldn't budge from my first location. But my entire experience with Mary before, during, and after my reservation dates, was perfect. She refunded my costs immediately and was so kind. I am very, very sorry to have missed out on staying at her place. I know it must be wonderful.
