  • What a great deal! House was very clean and cozy and just as advertised.

  • This was perfect for our needs. A little dated, but the condo was clean and tidy. Obviously if you're staying out in the country, you'll be used to the sounds and critters...if not be prepared for night sounds and the occasional geckos that seem to there ready to scare you. Harmlessly of course. Had a great time. Thanks again.

  • We (email hidden) for two nights and found the apartment was equipped a kind of needy and was not that cozy. Nevertheless it was clean and provides all we needed. Because here sleep up to four people, the price-performance is fair!

  • Amazing location and GREAT value for those who want to see Volcanoes National Park and lava flows (when they are active). Keep in mind that this place is on the wet side of the island, in a rainforest, AND right beside where old lava meets the ocean, meaning it's humid and close to lots of creatures. Even so, we did not experience any biting bugs and the sound of frogs was preferable to that of traffic...just be prepared for a long drive into a sparsely populated area. Fun time overall!

  • Bill was able to accommodate us at the last minute when we decided we'd like to stay near Pahoa. The location was good -- about 1/2 mile down the road is a cafe / roadhouse / convenience store located next to a trail leading over lava to a black sand beach. From the house we could hear the waves and wind through the trees -- at least when the coqui frogs weren't croaking. The unit was clean and appeared very recently updated -- fresh paint, new furniture; beds were comfortable, nice porch for sitting out and enjoying the views -- mostly trees with a glimpse of the ocean. Note to the squeamish -- this is the tropics, critters are a way of life -- so don't be surprised to see geckos, palmetto bugs etc. Other nearby attractions -- Lava Tree State Park; MacKenzie Beach Park -- gorgeous views and trees.

  • I did not meet Bill, as he has several properties he rents out and therefore does not meet all his tenants. The place itself was totally adequate for our needs, in a great jungle setting as well, and has a washer and dryer which is fantastic. The location is actually amazing, but we didn't know that until we left, as there was no available information in the house, nor a host to tell us what was near. It's actually as close to the lava as you can get. And hiking out to see the lava flow starts at Uncle Robert's (an island MUST SEE local hawaiian hang out equipped with Kava bar, live music, and real Hawaiian Royalty) which is within walking distance. But, like I said, we didn't know any of that during our stay and ended up coming back after we'd moved on to Hilo. There is one missing step in his directions that lead to the house, so be aware of that. But once inside, all is well. Since there was no info in the house, I had to call Bill to get the internet password, and he responded in good time.
