About This Listing
I have an available room in my Bucktown apartment. It is well located and affordably priced.
The apartment is located in the excellent neighborhood of Bucktown, close to Wicker Park. There are lots of restaurants, bars, cafes, and boutique shops in the area.
There are many transportation options and a parking space is included.
The available bedroom is small but has a Queen-sized bed that comfortably sleeps two. I sleep in the other bedroom, although occasionally it is rented to other guests. The apartment has 1 bathroom. There is free laundry on site. The neighbors above can occasionally be heard.
There is no tv in the bedroom, but the living room has basic cable tv, Netflix, and WiFi. Clean linens and towels are provided. In the morning coffee, orange juice, toast, and cereal are available. I have maps, guidebooks, and other information about Chicago.
I have traveled a lot in the last few years and used airbnb many times as a guest. I know what travelers want and hope to be a better host based on my great experiences with other hosts!
Guests are free to use the kitchen, bar area, living room with cable tv, Netflix, and wifi internet, outside deck with a gas grill, on site laundry, and a parking spot. You may come and go at any time during your stay.
Interaction with Guests
I enjoy spending time with my guests when our schedules permit. However, I realize that not all guests want to socialize so I will respect your privacy.
Bucktown is a great neighborhood! There are lots of restaurants, cafés, bars, live music venues, and boutiques shops. Wicker Park is very close.
I have lived in several Chicago neighborhoods and this is my favorite one.
One of the best things about the area is the excellent transportation!
Train: CTA blue line is a 12 minute walk (Damen station) and gets downtown in 15 minutes or to OHare airport in 40 minutes. The Metra train is also close and can take you downtown quickly.
Bus: Several convenient bus routes stop at the nearest corner.
Highway: Interstate 90/94 is 10 minutes away. A parking spot is included.
Bicycle: There are also bicycles for rent nearby from Chicago´s bike sharing program
Other Things to Note
There aren't many rules; just be respectful of the space. No smoking inside.
Jeff is a quintessentially great Airbnb host. Welcoming, detail-oriented, with a great location for jumping off and exploring Chi-town. We are Chicago hosts too, and found ourselves in a double-booking situation, so we crashed at Jeff's for the night. everything was great and he was extremely communicative and flexible. Would recommend to anyone looking to explore Chicago and meet some cool people for a really reasonable price.
Jeff was a wonderful and warm host! He responded quickly and with great directions for key exchange and parking tips. Parking and location were easy to find and there are tons of fantastic hot spots within walking distance. This was a working trip for me so I just walked down the block to a great bar and coffee shop (I think called The Map Bar) that was perfect for a mellow evening beer. The room was exceptionally clean and the bed was cloud like.
Next time I'm in town, I hope to book with Jeff again. Thanks Jeff!
Jeff is a really kind person. His girlfriend and him gave us good advices about the neighborhood and the places to visit in town. The apartment was nice and very well located close to a bus station and 15mn walk to a subway station. The location was clean and everything was as decribed. The communication with Jeff was perfect. Thanks
Jeff is the best host one could ask for. The place is in a great location, right in the middle with a lot of places to go to around. It's clean and spacious and Jeff thought of everything a traveller might need - including towels, body wash and even a toothbrush. Thank you so much for having me, I'll gladly come back next time I'm in Chicago!!
Taking the EL train from O'Hare airport to the Western station was relatively easy. Unfortunately, I arrived on a heavily rainy day and had to wait about 30 min at the train station til the rain tapered off, as I had a luggage and 2 carry-ons. Jeff was patient enough to wait for me at his house. It was about a 20-25 min walk from the station to his house with luggage in the trickling rain.
The house sits on a quiet street, and the buzz is around the Damen station (you can get to Jeff's house from either stop, although the Western stop is apparently closer). It must be an old house, as there was a constant musty & damp smell throughout the entire house. The room I was given is the larger of the 2 but both rooms are window-less. Jeff rents both out when there's a need. Be sure to ask which room you're getting as the smaller room seems big enough for the bed and not much else.
Jeff was a friendly, easy-going, & considerate host. He was fun to chat with. He provided bottled water, coffee, & cereals (although I never ate in).
