Couldn't have picked a better spot to spend the week, we're so glad we picked Kilauea and the Bird's Nest as our base. The studio had everything we needed and the very nearby farmer's markets kept us well-supplied with local produce. Jenny was a helpful and warm stand-in as host while Brigitte was away. Absolutely loved the treehouse and Chanty the dog is such a sweetheart.
Brigitte was out of town during our stay but her wonderful friend Jenny greeted and took care of us. The studio is very basic and minimal, but offers plenty for such a reasonable rate. There were paid extras (renting bikes, using the dryer, etc.) that we didn't take advantage of. It was cloudy when we were on the island so the apartment (located under the stairs shown in the picture) stayed quite dark, compelling us to get out and about. We loved having our coffee in the bird's nest each morning—you have to be able-bodied to access it via the ladder up the tree, though, and sign an extensive waiver to use it at all. Great location relative to the few places to hang out in Kiluea (our favorites were the Bakery and the Bistro). Chantee the dog is a delight. Thanks Brigitte and Jenny (and family)!
We felt at home every day we stayed here! Brigitte was out of town when we visited but were greeted by her friend Jenny who was so friendly and helpful in getting us set up and continued to help us while we stayed there. The studio is beautiful and has that Hawaiian energy you won't get at one of those honeycomb complexes. I especially liked reading the vintage Pidgin book after taking an outdoor shower! The Bird's nest was awesome too! It's the perfect place to share a bottle of wine and have dinner. The location was perfectly situated around the corner from a market place that houses a bakery, bistro/bar among other shops and a farmers market on Thursdays. This place by far was our favorite place to stay on Hawaii. It has everything and then some! P.S We miss Chantee!!!
We had a lovely time while staying at Brigette's place. The apartment was clean and quiet. We borrowed her boogie board and noodle and towels for our trips to the ocean. And her dog is lovely too!
Brigitte's tropical oasis was a wonderful place to stay while we explored Kauai. It is tucked back off of the street and surrounded by beautiful lush tropical gardens. The space is beautifully decorated and we felt very comfortable from the moment we got there. It is very private and the outdoor shower and Banyan tree house make you really feel like your staying in the middle of the jungle. Brigitte and her husband were very friendly, fun and outgoing. It is definitely one of our favorite spots that we've stayed during our Hawaiian adventure. Cannot recommend the Banyan Tree house enough...it is lovely. Thanks for the hospitality and we hope to be back one day! Mahalo
We had a wonderful time staying in the birds nest. Brigitte's house and garden are a little paradise and she made us feel very welcome. She also gave us great advice about what adventures we should definitely not miss on Kauai. We'd definitely stay here again, thank you so much Brigitte :)
Brigitte made us feel very welcome and a did a terrific job introducing us to the island. Her place is very simple, but also charming and comfortable. This was different from a "hotel experience," which suited us nicely, but future guests should def know that - be prepared to encounter some noise and rule-following along the way - but also a little bit of extra fun too.
On Kauai for 24 years love the ocean, chilling on Kaua'i fabulous beaches , my bicycle, diving with my sweet husband. fresh fruits and veggies, my dog, Oh and sipping on a nice glass of wine in our Birds Nest tree house at sunset time.
