Artsy Cozy Carriage House!

Apartment - Private room · Locust Street, Brooklyn, NY 11206, United States

Welcome to the Carriage House, a quaint 3-br ground floor apartment occupying the backyard of a traditional multi-resident building. Tucked back from the street, we have a quiet and private respite with a full kitchen and recently renovated bathroom.

The Space

Experience the heart of Bushwick's vibrant art and nightlife scene in our cozy Carriage House, which is safely (and quietly!) tucked behind a 4-story building on the ground floor. No stairs to climb, protection from street noise and traffic, secure bike parking, chill neighbors. Straight shot from JFK. I just started using airbnb summer of 2013 but have been successfully renting the room for various length stays through (website hidden) over the past 3 years.

The apartment has 3 bedrooms and available room is private with a locking door, featuring a double bed, bedside table, coffee table, shelves, closet, large screened window and ample heat or AC depending on season. Apartment features 1 full bathroom and kitchen, shared with 1 full and 1 part-time roommate, both creative professionals.

Easy access to Bushwick's best coffee houses, art spaces, and shops with affordable goods made by local designers and artists. I can provide you with a comprehensively curated list of the best local food, shopping and entertainment options. Apartment is equidistant from the Myrtle/Broadway and Flushing JMZ trains, and a 20 minute walk to the L train at Montrose. An easy 20 minute ride into Lower Manhattan over the Williamsburg Bridge.

Get the inside scoop on Bushwick's art and culture with us at the Carriage House! (If requested, I can assist you with finding unique and one-of-a-kind events to attend.)

Check In
  • Couldn't have asked for a better host or a better place to stay. Rachel and her roommate James were very welcoming and friendly, the room was comfortable and the location was perfect with easy metro access. Had a great weekend while I was here.

  • My partner Shea and I had a lovely time hanging out with Rachel, which was an added plus to our very cold weekend in NYC. This made the fact that the room was toasty and cozy.
The energy was very laid back, something that the two of us are very much about when we are not working.
Rachel was helpful with our getting around Brooklyn and into Queens and Manhattan (And her little dog too!) We had a very nice time.

Thank you Rachel.. Yust Lundberg aka the faery king

  • A localização da casa e excelente, a poucos metros no metro e do supermercado. Rachel foi uma excêntrico anfitriã e a casa muito confortável.

  • The place was close to everything, and made our stay in Brooklyn a delight. Everyone at the house was polite, helpful, and a pleasure to stay with. I recommend this listing for the true Bushwick experience.

  • This is an awesome place to stay. Super comfortable bed and convinient location(it's just a couple of blocks from the subway and there's lots of shops and things around) but almsot no street noise. The place itself is cozy and cool, Rachel and James were both really friendly and helpful. My only reservation might be if you're super afraid of dogs as Rachel's dog did bark at us quite a bit the first night when we came in but she's a total lovebug and this place is awesome!

  • The room was comfortable and cool--I especially liked the Harry Potter book! Rachel and James are both friendly and laid-back. Flexibility about check-in and check-out time was great for my schedule. Also, a really easy walk to the subway to get into the city.

  • I appreciated Rachel's flexibility in the last minute reservation. The bed was very comfortable and I liked the location of the apartment, however the heating in the room didn't work very well.

    Response from Rachel:

Hi Selja, I'm sorry to hear about the heating only after you checked out! I will definitely look into it ASAP. Our heat is free but the thermostat is on a somewhat mysterious programmed schedule.

  • I enjoyed meeting Rachel and staying in her cozy home. The mattress was so comfortable, and there were 2 of us, my boyfriend and I. I felt at home in the neighborhood and in the space. She welcomed us to check in early and drop off our bags. She invited us to goings on for Halloween. The apartment was quiet, considering all the offerings within the vicinity: close to the Metro, lively shopping, great street markets. We strolled down Graham and found fantastic affordable organic coffee, produce, shops, etc. Neighbors and neighborhood people were friendly. I enjoyed chatting with locals. I took a nearby bus to the Brooklyn Botanical Garden and Prospect Park and the train got me to other places I needed to go quickly. I felt safe with my valuables, thanks to Penny, the lovable mini dachshund. People were really considerate of each other, and I never felt crowded, though I've not had other flatmates in a long while. It was not lacking in privacy. I knew I was welcome to cook, though I didn't have a chance, and make coffee, which was a necessity for mornings. I like that Rachel is active in the live-art world, making connections happen. Also, there are loads of interesting reading material in the apartment. This is a great, easy going place to rest after a long day or night in the city. I took a dance workshop, and stayed up late, so it was nice to come home to this peaceful spot. Thanks, Rachel!
