We live in a very bountiful place along the Irish coastline. We are right on the shore of the stunning Garrettstown beach strand which has its own surf school year round, even in crazy weather! There are cliff walks and Irish pubs dotted nearby.
We are 10 minutes drive from the seriously quaint and cute Kinsale town, which is renown for its Gourmet seafood and fish restaurants and where every year people from all over the world come to see the historic sights and take boat trips. So if you like fishing, the mackerel are next in this end of July, if you like the Arts, Kinsale Arts Festival happens around the middle of July, if you love forestry our local bluebell forest (a few minutes away from our door) has miles of walk paths, if you like the sea, there are boat trips all summer to see whales and dolphins in our nearby harbour view strand and especially if you like to surf or sail, there are wonderful waves most days and there is always an open surf school, minutes walk from our door and Kinsale has a sailing school for 6 months a year.
Our local little village, Ballinspittle, boasts the fantastic Award-winning Diva's Bakery & Coffeshop with great fresh baked goods every day. Occasionally we get a travelling Red Double Decker bus Café and a travelling Sauna at the beach which park up and stay for few days ..that's always a treat !
Our home itself, is a family home with me Susie and my husband Marcus and our two young boys .It’s a big airy bright spacious place, we love it. Our guest-room is a double room with a bathroom next to it and is on the ground floor. Babies are welcome and we have a travel cot and facilities for kids. We sleep upstairs.
I can offer early or late breakfasts, as we are up early with our kids anyway, so we welcome any early-birds out there! . My speciality are pancakes and most of our food is usually organic and we always try to source good local produce from our local growers and butchers. I can certainly cater for vegetarian breakfasts, as I was a vegetarian myself for 15 years, and any other dietary requirements. We eat mostly wheat free as our son is wheat-intolerant so we are used to alternative cooking.
We speak English, Italian and Spanish, as my husband is originally from Argentina, and of course we love the experience of many different cultures as we have travelled much ourselves.
Marcus and Susie's place was our favorite place to stay in Ireland! They have a beautiful home with adorable children and make a great breakfast! Truly an amazing family with stories and recommendations for a first time traveler to Ireland. Would absolutely recommend.
It's was a great pleasure to meet Marcus and Susie (and Arran and PAS-TOUCHE of course!), Their cute house is just a few metter from the ocean. The room was big enough and very clean.
Since the moment we arrived Marcus was very kind and made a reservation in the restaurant even if it was about to close... The Bale familly is very nice! . We really enjoyed this Airbnb experience and i hope we'll meet them again very soon for ninja lessons Vs theatre demonstrations!
Marcus and Susie were absolutely fantastic. The breakfasts were delicious and they have a nice quiet room in their house with ensuite bathroom. There are 2 different beaches within a 2 minute and 10 minute walk and the countryside is absolutely gorgeous. The room was clean, quiet with good internet. If you're looking for a nice quiet place to relax and just soak in the beauty of Ireland - this is your spot!
Absolutely loved staying here! Perfect place if you have kids. Seriously couldn't get in a better location. We traveled all over Ireland and honestly loved this location the most. Beautiful beach and hills all around the house. Loved getting to know the hosts, they are so welcoming and fun to talk to. So giving and generous with food. Went out of their way to make yummy breakfast and even provided a fish dinner and food for our son! Two cute sons also made it enjoyable for our son.
I had the pleasure to stay at Marcus' and Susie's place for my 5-day participation to the surf2heal camp of the area.
I enjoyed the homy feeling, the flexibility of the hosts (I did a very early check-in and a late check-out) and their willingness to prepare for me the breakfast of my preference each day (deli fruit salads, eggs, bagels, bread&honey)
I felt like old friend of the family there, met their happy, cute children and I had the nicest morning call: "breakfast is ready!" from their always-smiley son.
The location of the place is indeed beside the beach and is the place to be if you wanna enjoy some good surf in one of Ireland's best beaches for surfing.
I was alone there for my trip, and the fact that I could have the welcoming company of Marcus and Sussie during my breakfast and after I was coming home from a long day in the water, made my stay really pleasant, as if I visited friends. I had nice discussions with them as they are both interesting people who make you chill out from the first moment.
I recommend the place for a nice/different/cosy stay and a real AirBnB experience in at this amazing seaside: Garretstown.
