Come enjoy a spacious, sunny and lovely studio surrounded by gardens and a deep, green forest with Lake Michigan just across the road. On the eastern shoreline of Door County, the studio has cathedral ceilings and two walls of windows. Very arty, comfy and quiet. Secluded with expansive, but private, views of the surrounding forest. Full kitchen. Restaurants and market nearby . Excellent hiking and biking. Easy access to all of Door County. Fully cleaned and sanitized for each guest.

The space
Cathedral ceilings and room-size windows open to a forest and gorgeous, natural gardens all around you. Walk the short path to Lake Michigan and have your coffee on the bench there at sunrise. This is the "Quiet Side" of the peninsula, popular with hikers and bicyclists, and nature lovers. You will see deer, foxes, birds and enjoy nature to the fullest. There is a big backyard with a table and barbecue for your use. Behind you is the 1000 state-protected acres of Shivering Sands State Natural Area.
The studio has one queen-size bed. I can also provide a comfortable single sleeping pad made up for a third person on the oriental rug.
Glidden Drive is the Eastern Shore of the Door Peninsula and one of the most desirable parts of the county: private, quiet, scenic. Woods and water, stone shores and sandy beaches are nearby.
For the security of my guests I kept the studio empty all winter. I have of course instituted extra cleaning procedures. Also, I always allow a least a full day between bookings to allow for more time for cleaning and “airing out” between guests. The gardens are blooming, the air is warm and scenery is, as always, fantastic.
Please note that I made some "decorating" changes in January 2021. Just upgraded the art and the headboard and the TV. If the photos don't match, I have noted in the captions which is the current decorating.
Oh! And the property is sprayed monthly in the summer so the mosquitoes are far and few between making it easy to enjoy the back yard.

Guest access
You have your own cozy home with a private entrance and control your own heating and cooling. All the windows can be opened to the woods. The studio shares a roof with my house but you probably won't notice. Parking is on the driveway in good weather and in the garage when things are icy.

Other things to note
There is no broadcast TV but the television has a DVD player and a big collection of good films. All of the windows open wide to let the lake breezes flow through --and they do! There is a full kitchen with a dishwasher. Few homes have air conditioning here because of our well known "Cooler by the Lake," however I do have both fans and air conditioning for the rare days when it's very warm or humid. We are generally 10 degrees cooler here than on the Green Bay side of the peninsula. You control your own heating/cooling. There is a laundromat nearby.

There are only large private homes here on this beautiful Wisconsin-designated Rustic Road. This is the shore of Lake Michigan and is all woods and water gorgeous. Biking and kayaking are popular. Great hiking goes through the 1000 acres of protected land behind the house as well as all through the County. Popular Whitefish Dunes State Park and Cave Point County Park are five miles away. Woods and water surround you everywhere. Two restaurants and a well-stocked convenience store (meat, veggies, etc) are nearby. All of Door County is available for you to see and enjoy in this centrally-located place on this spot on the Peninsula. Shopping, theater, museums, fishing, swimming, great food, historical places.... it's all here in these small, friendly towns.

I moved to Door County 20 years ago, from San Francisco, and never looked back! I love the comfy, small-town feel of Door County but also love the access to theater, good restaurants, hiking and biking and lots of interesting people. I love to read and write, hike, go to movies and live theater. I'm a mostly-retired teacher and counselor.
