About This Listing
The apartment (52 sq. meters, 5th floor) is located in a small and quiet neighborhood in the very heart of Athens. It has a spacious living room, one bedroom, a well-equipped kitchen and a nice bathroom. The balcony is 27 sq. meters big, very bright and quiet all day long.
Only 100 m. from the apartment, on foot, you find the October 28th Avenue, the main boulevard leading to the old city center. All touristic sights are in a close walking distance, taking the October 28th Avenue to the east, starting from the National Archaeological Museum (only 200 meters away). Walking another 7-8 minutes (it’s super easy, there stands Acropolis showing us the way!), we arrive to Athinas Street with the hundreds of small shops, and on our way we also find the famous Plaka, Thissio, Monastiraki, etc.
There is a shopping centre at a close distance (100 meters). In the nearby area, one can find many shops with international (mainly Asian and African) alimentary products. Around Victoria square there are traditional Greek restaurants and 24-hour-open shops selling snacks, drinks and cigarettes. The October 28th Street is a commercial zone for clothes and shoes shopping.
You can easily reach the apartment either you arrive by plane or ship. There are frequent connections from both places, the Eleftherios Venizelos airport and the port of Piraeus, with the underground (metro) ((website hidden)), bringing you within 50 and 25 minutes respectively to “Victoria” station (3 minutes’ walk from our place). For those arriving after 01:00 am there is also a night bus (line X95) connecting the airport with the main city square, “Syntagma”. From there, you take the night trolleybus (number 11) which leaves you to the National Archaeological Museum, near our place. Also, you can visit Sounio and the beaches near Athens by orange buses (200m away).
Cleaning and change of sheets and towels every 3 days (upon request) can be provided at an extra cost of 15 euro. Please do not hesitate to contact us for any further information, I’ll be more than happy to help you enjoy our city!
My friend and I are two American girls roaming around Greece for a couple of weeks. We chose to stay in Ioannis's place because it was located around the area we wanted to be, Excharia. Ioannis was exceptionally hospitable upon our arrival. Helping us with our bags and taking the time to go over mapping Athens quite easily. His place is quite unique, vintage style, very aesthetically pleasing and comfortable. Coming from New York City, we are used to walking and getting around via train. His loft is about a ten minute walk to Excharia and about a five minute walk from Victoria Square metro. The metro is very easy to use and way better than a car if you're just exploring Athens. His place is in an area that could make one, especially women not from a city, a little on edge. Although we were told it was a questionable area, it is extremely close to Exarchia and a nice walk passed the archeological museum.
Thanks again Ioannis for everything, we arrived with a very late flight in the night and someone was there to welcome us.. Very nice decoration, very good taste...The flat is very well situated, with a very big terrace, nice and welcome after walking all day long across the town....Would definitely recommend anyone for this place.
We enjoyed our trip
The penthouse us excellent, with a wonderful balcony we were sitting each evening. It has nice atmosphere, very unique and created by the owner himself.
The owner met us and told all about the city and places to visit, some local specifics also. It was great to just relax and listen while he was talking.
Some people who gets scared easily may think of the area around as not the safest. However, we had no problems there.
We spent a good time in Ioannis' apartment and felt very welcome. For us it was a cosy base to explore Athens (mostly walking). We had everything we needed. Ioannis is a great host, he helped with useful informations and answered always real fast.
Staying at Ioannis' place has been great. He is a gentleman and such a nice person, easygoing, funny, welcoming! His apartment reflects the way he is, we felt at home, anything we needed was there. Plus, it is extremely well decorated: no ikea first-price but everywhere you look an amazing collection of vintage furniture and books. We loved this place :) hope to come back someday!
Everything was great! When we arrived angelo, a good friend of ioannes showed us the appartement. He gave us so many interesting details about athen! Thx for this! The appartement is like a little museum of vintage accecoires -really really nice and cosy.

About the Host, Ioannis
I live and work mostly in Athens Greece. Born in the late '70s, I showed great interest in visual arts and photography at the early age of 8. My favorite pass time since childhood was to capture my personal reality without following the usual norms, always expressing my views in an extravagant and unique way, contrary to what is expected.
Initially I experimented with small cameras, I later found my true calling with photography through a borrowed zenith. I succeeded in filtering digital photography and it’s processing through digital media, giving a unique identity to my artwork. exploiting the freedom of expression that the digital media makes possible, I ignored what it is perceived as everyday life, capturing reality and exposing it in a new dimension.
Capturing a clear scene of everyday life by switching its dimensions is the main axis of the seminars instructed by me and what he is continually stating in personal exhibitions and art-events. I have been an instructor of the photography seminars at the student club of the university of Athens. I participated in many exhibitions and art projects. my main geographical areas of photo shooting have been chosen around Europe, USA,Australia and India.
