Wonderful one bedroom apartment located in the old Bryant & May matchstick factory development in East London. With double height ceiling and open plan layout it benefits from being within a secure, gated and staffed estate. Perfect for city breaks.
Thanks for looking at my apartment in Bow, East London. Situated within the grounds of the old Bryant & May matchstick factory it benefits from gated and secure entry and is surrounded by lovely gardens and ponds.
The flat has one bedroom which will sleep two adults and one small child, for which a Mamas and Papas travel cot is provided. It cannot accept guests I'm afraid. An electric blanket is in place for those who like it toasty in bed and it's dual zone to cater for those who do not! All bedding and towels are of course provided as well as an iron, ironing board and a memory foam neck support pillow is available should you feel you want to use it also.
It has a double height ceiling and a huge south westerly facing window with views out towards Canary Wharf and The O2 from the 4th floor of the block but this is more like the 8th floor given the ceiling heights.
There is a TV with Blu Ray player and small (but quality) selection of films, free to use WIFI. The kitchen has a full quota of pots and pans for your use along with tea and coffee making and a toaster.
The estate has its own shop which is very handy for breakfasts (really nice fresh croissants) and supplies of food, drink and any essentials you might've forgotten. There is also a bar on site which has a fantastic curry kitchen (they'll deliver to your door) as well as doing a good old fashioned cooked breakfast at the weekends.
Parking can be arranged within estate grounds. The charge is £10 per day and the car park is fully secure, within the complex and away from the street. At weekends parking is available for free in nearby locals streets. The flat is also near to a train line which some light sleeping guests may be conscious of but on the whole isn't an issue.
The bustling day and night spots of London's East End are all within easy reach by tube, bus and bike and the financial districts of Canary Wharf and the City are pretty much on the doorstep.
Travel times are roughly:
- 5 min walk from Bow Church DLR
- 5 mins walk to bustling Roman Rd Market (Tues, Thur, Sat)
- 8 mins walk from Bow Road Tube
- 10 mins to Canary Wharf
- 10 mins walk to Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park
- 10 mins walk to Victoria Park
- 15 mins to The O2 (easy bus journey, great for beating the queues after events!)
- 15 mins to Westfield Stratford City (Europe's largest shopping centre)
- 15 mins from Liverpool Street station
- 25 mins from London City Airport (DLR)
- 30 mins to Central London
- 45 mins from Stansted Airport (National Express stop at the end of the road)
I will usually try to meet my guests on arrival and then leave you to it. I am always on hand however should you need any help with anything and am happy to be contacted at any time whether for help, advise or ideas.
For longer stays I may ask for occasional access just to spruce the place up to make my life easier come the end of your stay. This will be arranged with you in advance though if relevant.
I'd like to think I can offer you a place with superb location, that is clean and comfortable, has history and charm with modern convenience and amenities, that is safe and secure and provides a great base from which to work or simply enjoy London.
Other Things to Note
Please note - as a one bedroom apartment it is most suited to 2 adults and a small child. For three adults to stay it requires that one person makes use of an air mattress (which I can provide, with bedding) which fits in the living room area. It is quite comfortable but it does mean that this person is open to the noise and light coming through the window in the morning as there is no curtain.
To many of my guests this is not an issue but I appreciate that it might not be suitable for everyone and I do not want anyone to be disappointed with their stay.
Please consider this before making a booking if you are more than 2 people. Do feel free to contact me with any questions.
- Please, there is strictly no smoking or pets allowed. This includes the communal areas of the building. There is sheltered space outside however in which to smoke.
- Check in and out times are flexible where possible and I will make every effort to meet you. If this is not possible then you will be able to collect the keys from the security lodge. To do this you must bring with you some form of ID before they will release the keys.
Dominic was a very nice guy, extremely helpful and very welcoming. His apartment is well situated and is within a very nice private gated community, something I liked very much as I could leave my car in a secure off street space for the duration of the stay. (£10 per day - very reasonable) the complex has a great feel and has everything you need including a well stocked shop. The flat itself is perfectly well equipped and a great place to explore the city from. Many thanks from Paul & Amy

Dominics place looks just like the photos and the check in/out process is super easy. The area is really safe and secure which is great and there's a few friendly cats around which is always nice! I could hear the trains throughout the day but I slept right through the night without the use of the earplugs kindly provided. Would recommend!
Very well located and well secured. Nice wee corner shop where you can get a good croissant. The flat is quiet at night but noisy during the day due to the railway underneath the window. Great wee flat in general but no hot water at all (even with the boost engaged) during our short visit in the week end.
Sorry to hear about the hot water Guillaume. The boost does work and I do ask that guests let me know immediately of any issues as I would have been able to help. The hot water cylinder has now been professionally checked and is in full working order.

It was a pleasure week to stay there with my wife. Great transportation bus and underground 10 min walking distance. Kitchen equipment and bathroom essentials are well equiped and the location is not too far away from town. Great host!
The flat is pleasant and good value. The kitchen and bathroom are well equipped, and we loved the huge window which filled the room with sunshine. The development is beautiful and unusual.
The place was exactly like what was listed! Dominic was really helpful and responsive :) the check in and out process was a breeze too! Will definitely recommend the place to anyone visiting london!
I am 35, married and from London, UK. I love to travel and see as much of new places as I can in the time that I can. My ideal trip includes the best of a place's high and low culture, the bits that make a location tick as well as the famous/infamous places of interest. Both on AND off the beaten track if you will.
I am a musician and so will usually try to find a local scene where I can to see what influences I can take away. I love meeting new people and this is a great way to do it. I feel that the more you can integrate yourself with the people around you the better traveling will always be.
I have family and friends all over the world and so have done a large amount of traveling without the need for hotels and I think this has worn off on me.
