The space

Mayu or "river" in the local quechua language, is our junior suite and a pleasant room with a comfortable Queen bed and en-suite bathroom. The room has an exterior balconies carved in colonial style with picturesque views of the landscape, spectacular mountain views, the ruins of Pinkuylluna and the cobbled lane below.

The nights in this room are magical and lullaby you to sleep thanks to the relaxing and constant sound of the Inca water channel below.

Mayu is one of our 6 individually unique rooms that we offer in Picafor Tambo, a"bijou" guest house nested beneath the sacred mountain of "Pinkuylluna" with a peaceful aqua lullaby and beautiful balcony views to the Inca ruins above.

The house is located within the living Inca village of Ollantaytambo and offers you a perfect relaxing "sojourn" and break before or after your next adventure to Machu Picchu, the beauty of our Sacred Valley, Cusco or nearby into the delights of the jungle.

Our house offers the discerning guest a tranquil and unique experience of Peru and its rustic mountain countryside in a comfortable and cosy atmosphere. The house also showcases local craftsmanship and wood carving in traditional local style.

All our guests are most welcome to share our cosy salon with its warming fireplace.

We also offer a hearty breakfast of local produce to set you up for your day and of course, a full bar to relax after a full and fun day of exploring.

We look forward to helping you with your booking and making your stay with us special.

Excellent location - felt very safe the entire time, super friendly staff, room was extremely clean, breakfast was delicious! Only downside was some loud music playing down the street that could be heard until 2am, but aside from that everything was perfect. Would stay again for sure!

We arrived in this beautiful town in the afternoon and had no problem checking in a bit early. The young girl at the front desk was very friendly and showed us our room. We stayed in the Mayu room which was so beautiful. Bed was very comfortable and the private ensuite bathroom was a bonus. The shower had great pressure and the water was as hot as you wanted it. Everything was clean and the view from our balcony is one of the Ollantaytambo runs. We hiked machu picchu the next morning so we had to leave early and miss breakfast so they made us a take away breakfast with juice, a sandwich, banana, cookies and a chocolate. The only down side is that on Saturday nights there is a locals club close to the bnb and they plan very loud music. I had such a great experience that this would not stop me from going back but be prepared to wear ear plugs. If you forget yours the front desk will give you some. All in all one of our favourite stays.

Mayu is a beautiful room on the second floor of Picaflor Tambo. The room's double doors open above a walkway to the sound of the inca water channels: what an incredible sound to hear! The hotel is in a great location - in the original old part of town and easy walking to the main square. Breakfast was delicious and the staff were very helpful. Highly recommended!

Host was very friendly and helpful, and Bnb was clean and cozy. We arrived at night from macciu picchu and left early morning so we didn't stay at this bnb for long but we were happy with staying here. We asked them to arrange a charter car for next day to sightsee Ollantaytambo and head back to Cusco. They arranged it quickly with a decent price. The breakfast was very simple but fine for us. Traditional pita bread, Papaya juice, scramble egg, olives and some slice of cheese. I don't know why but we were not offered any tea and coffee. The only drink was hot water and the freshly squeezed Papaya juice. The only problem we had was Internet connection, which was very unsuitable and super slow, you shouldn't expect to search information on (SENSITIVE CONTENTS HIDDEN) with your tablets or smartphones. It's not a luxurious place to stay at but we would definitely recommend this bnb!

Words can't describe how wonderful this place has been to us. Not only is the house and room itself lovely and centrally located, the family that own and run it are kind and extremely helpful - from carrying heavy bags to running out to buy us water. The balcony, sound of running water, and view of the mountains are all incredible. 5/5, would stay again!
