  • Totally enjoyed my stay with Julia and John in their lovely rustic Irish home.
Julia and John are fabulous hosts and went out of their way to make my stay as wonderful as possible.
The Garden Room is beautiful, comfortable, well appointed and immaculate. Little touches like roses on the table and chocolates near the bed makes one feel special and are appreciated. The bed is very comfortable and a heater was offered if needed. The bath has a tub and shower and plenty of hot water.
Their home is located minutes from town, bus, restaurants and stores.
Best of all are the memories of the lovely and sumptuous dinner we shared, the conversations, and the music. Their dog, Bruno, is an extra special treat; friendly and well behaved.
I would stay here again in a heartbeat!!!!!!!!!

  • We found the Summer Garden Room to be a delight for our stay. The room is bright and airy, and creatively decorated. The room is at the rear of the property and is very quiet and peaceful, with a really comfortable bed. It's less than 5 minutes walk to the Donegal castle & the centre of this charming town. We loved chatting with Julia and John and their hospitality was truly appreciated.

  • 2 minutes walk from the heart of Donegal (a square named 'the diamond'), Julia and John have this room. This room is at the back of their characteristic house, making it a quiet place to sleep. It's spacious and clean. I stayed there 2 nights, making it a good place for exploring Donegal County. Julia and John are welcoming people and if you want to, Bruno the dog is more than happy to play with you.

  • We spent two nights with John and Julia in Donegal town. They were extremely welcoming and friendly. Our room was clean, comfortable and large. Little touches like a bowl of fruit, some little chocolates and tea/coffee in the room were welcome. We had private use of the adjoining bathroom and the shower had plenty of hot water. We had our own key to come and go as we pleased. The only drawback was access to the room which was a bit scary. The location of John and Julia's house is fantastic, as you can walk into the centre for food/ drinks in the evening, a very short distance. We were made to feel very welcome and could help ourselves to tea/ coffee etc from their kitchen. If you're looking for basic accommodation in a good location then John and Julia's house is good. They have a very friendly dog called Bruno, and several cats so a good place for animal lovers. Communication both before and after our visit was very good. Thank you for a memorable stay in Donegal.

  • We had a very nice stay with John and Julia, the room was very nice, we really appreciated the uniqueness of their home and enjoyed their hospitality.

Had good conversations with both of them and felt more like family than just guests. Also, it is a great location.

  • Julia and John, a German-Irish couple with two cats and a lovely friendly dog Bruno, made my return to Donegal after 15 years, a memorable experience. An old house with character, beautiful tiled floor, spacious rooms, bright kitchen and a lovely wild garden. Very warm and friendly, with lots of interesting stories to tell (especially the one about sugar :) ) they made me feel at home. Julia took me to a beautiful lake with her car on her way to work , we watched a film together in the living room and they also prepared everything for our last-night Greek food session. They tried their best to make my room warm and cosy and the little details such as the fruit, tea and chocolates they left for me were most welcome. One last detail to add: the bathroom had an electric shower, so the water was HOT! Thanks again for everything Julia and John, I hope I will see you again someday!

  • We really enjoyed our stay at Julia and John's place! We felt at home as soon as we were greeted at the door.

The room was really nice, specious, clean and quiet (which is exactly what we needed after a couple of nights in a noisy Dublin hostel). The windows face out onto the garden and we were surrounded by trees and it was lovely to have the curtains open in the day, and to see the sun come through the curtains in the morning. Very special. The room also had a bathroom that was accessible only to us, which was nice for some privacy. The breakfast Julia and John provided was really nice, there was more than enough to fill us up for a day of sightseeing in the area!

The hospitality we experienced was really memorable, both Julia and John were really friendly and helpful with suggestions about where to eat / where to drive to / where to shop in the area and we had some good conversations.

A highlight of our stay was definitely their beautiful chocolate Labrador Bruno!!! Such a beautiful character and lovely to be around. Hi Bruno! We miss you!!

We'd recommend staying with Julia and John to anyone and I hope we can stay again one day!
