  • John was very accommodating and helpful. I ended up feeling a bit under-the-weather upon my arrival and John was understanding. I really appreciated how clean the bathroom was as well. I'm a light sleeper and he was considerate towards that. He is flexible, easy-going and fun to talk to.

  • John was very hospitable and helpful with information about the city, plus he has lots of helpful materials in the room to browse through. The room and bathroom were very clean and the bed is comfy. It's a great location close to downtown by car or public transport, and walking distance to lots of great places within the south east neighborhood. Very enjoyable stay!

  • Beautiful, zen home and wonderful host. John was very accommodating of our last minute booking. His home was located in a great part of town and we had a very private and quiet wing of the house and we were able to get a good rest. We knew nothing about Portland when we arrived and thanks to his well organized and thorough guide book we got up to speed quickly. Highly recommend! Thanks for the hospitality, John!

  • John was a great host, kind and courteous. House was in good order, our room was very clean and comfortable. Shared bathroom was much better than I expected. He left us alone to have our privacy but was very friendly and hospitable when we were around to hang out. Would definitely stay again.

  • John makes every effort to make his guest feel welcome. The room is exactly as pictured. One thing you can't see- how wonderfully soft and comfortable the bed is. I was provided with a key for the room and shared bathroom, lush towels, and personal space in the refrigerator and cabinets. The house is modest and located in a funky neighborhood but the guest and shared spaces were immaculate. There was a gathering of friends for a party at the house while I was visiting, but I arrived too late to join in the festivities. That, more than anything, made me feel like I was visiting a friend who truly enjoyed my company and wanted to include me in his world. I would highly recommend this place to anyone, and hope I can visit again.

  • The host provided a lot of guest-friendly amenities, such as: a towel, hand towel, wash cloth with a Ghirardelli chocolate (!) set out on top of the bed, a fridge and cupboard in the kitchen, labeled for guest use, a CD player and Wifi. In addition guests are welcome to use the livingroom,, back deck, and yard. The place was beautiful and very welcoming and serene.

  • John was a welcoming host who was eager to assist us in anyway he could. The house is very quiet and peaceful and well worth the price of the room.

  • John used to run a very swanky retreat in Portland, so his whole house is full of gorgeous Buddha's!

John's home couldn't be more user-friendly for an out of town guest. Everything is clearly labeled and accessible, clean & organized, and the location is right up the block from the 4 bus toward downtown.

I went on a few runs through his (amazing) neighborhood, and took the bus into downtown for a conference each day. Great experience, I'll be back. My wife saw the pictures and wants to bring the kids. We'll warn you first John. hahahah

I'm a health professional, interested in living a healthy, happy, long life. At this point, i'm vegan, simple eating, but i love a place with a kitchen i can use. And the ideal place has a bathtub! I also host my home in Portland, and have met some incredible people. I currently am the CEO of the All About Health Network, an e-commerce business dedicated to promoting the benefits of massage and body rolling. i was an avid rock climber until i realized it was beginning to jeopardize my dancing career (post modern). I teach yoga, yamuna body rolling, soul motion, all easy forms of moving your body and staying healthy. I've taught everything from 6th grade Earth Science to College Health Science to Couples Massage.
