Hi Martyn and Family! Thanks again for staying with us at Golden Pool Villas! Apologies once again for the off-colour in the swimming pool upon arrival. As you could probably imagine, this was not the first impression that we would have liked you to have upon arrival. Management was literally staring at the pool for hours before your arrival, with fingers crossed hoping that it would clear up faster! To explain further, please note that during a couple of weeks in the middle of April, we were having trouble with the clarity of the water in the pools due to the fact that we had to use water sourced from the deep water well, instead of the usual water catchment that we use. During April (which is also the month of Songkran - Thai New Year Water Festival) it is extremely dry. We were forced to use well water which has a small tinge of iron and phosphate in it. While this is not harmful at all for humans at these very low levels, it does make a slight cloudy colour in the water. When we add the chemical into the pool to restore the pH balance, the first thing that happens is that the filter pushes through the chemical (blue colour liquid) throughout the pool, which then binds to the little microscopic metals in the water. They then stick to the sides of the pool and float on top. So what you were actually seeing was the chemical doing it’s job. We then vacuum it out, and day by day it restores, and after a few days the water is crystal clear again. During this time, the pool can still be used for swimming (the pH and balance of the pool is still within Australian Standard parts per million), but we of course understand if you did not wish to at this time. While it was still clearing, we thought it would be good to open up the other pool/s for you instead, and we are glad that you enjoyed this. When the pool was back to normal again, we are happy that your kids could splash about again in your private backyard. We had heard from our swimming pool company that many swimming pools in many resorts around were experiencing the same thing, due to having to use ground well water during the extremely dry end of season that the island was having. Apologies again, and we regret that this had to happen during your stay. The pools are beautiful again, as the weather gods have been good to us ;-) ...We are sincerely sorry for any inconvenience caused.
