The Space

Quiet residential area of Charlottetown (the birth place of Confederation). You are a 20 minute walk or 5 minutes by bus or car to downtown with plenty of restaurants, cafes with outdoor seating, great shopping and entertainment. Your host, Susane, comes home for the summer and would like some company during the months of July and August. PEI is known as the "Gentle Island" and is a vacation paradise with red sandy beaches stretching for miles on either shore. It boasts of over 400 km of The Confederation Trail which is an extension of the Trans Canada Trail. It is great for trail riding, running or walking and don't be surprised when passers-by give you a friendly greeting.
Come and enjoy the Strawberry Socials or numerous Ceilidhs throughout the small towns and villages of the Island. Lobster is always in season and it is an event in itself to partake in one of the Island's many famous Lobster Suppers.

  • Susane is a lovely lady who made me feel very welcome. I was wanting to capture the spirit of the locals and she very graciously included me in some city activities that she was attending. Her home is very comfortable and clean and I wouldn't hesitate for a moment to stay with her again next time I come to Charlottetown!

    Response from Susane:

Thank you Lisa. It was so awesome of you to come along with me and I am glad you enjoyed the simple little things. I do hope you will visit Charlottetown again as yhere is so much more to see and do.

  • Had a great stay with Susane in PEI. Such a kind lady and her knowledge of the area is invaluable.
Have us great tips on where to visit and where to eat.
Her little dog Romeo is a sweetheart.

  • Susane was a fantastic host: friendly, warm and helpful. And her place was a great spot to re-group and get a good night's sleep mid-travels. Also, she made warm scones in the morning. We felt right at home (if we had the kind of homes where someone made us warm scones for breakfast!).

Highly recommended! If we make it back to Charlottetown, we'll look forward to visiting and staying with Susane again!

    Response from Susane:

Christine and her friends were awesome. Wish we had more time to chat over the scones and coffee. I do hope you make it back someday although there is a great big world to explore.

  • We had a great time at Susane's place! After a long day in PEI, which included a drive from Tabusintac NB, to the Anne of Green Gables Park and then into Charlottetown, Susane awaited us with a friendly smile. She showed us to our room, which by the way, had an amazing Ultramatic Adjustable Bed!!! We talked for a bit, and she let us in on the very amazing Water-Prince Corner Shop and Lobster pound, which has the most amazing Lobster dinners and for only half the price of any other restaurant in town! It was on the TV show "You Gotta Eat Here", so you know it was amazing. Anyways, we had a great chat with Susane and she had some homemade muffins for breakfast which were amazing. A great host and a great place to stay a 10 minute drive to downtown Charlottetown. Amber and I definitely recommend this place and Susane as a host!

    Response from Susane:

Thank you Amber and Andrew. You two could work for Tourism PEI and do a better job of promoting the Island than most. I so much enjoyed chatting with you. Blessings

  • Susane is a lovely and friendly host. Her location was also a convenient distance from historic downtown Charlottetown. She was flexible with our arrival time, had local newspapers ready for us in our room, and offered fresh muffins for breakfast! We felt comfortable with Susane and wish we could have spent more time getting to know her.

    Response from Susane:

Thank you Shirley. I enjoyed your visit and glad you had a good sleep in. I do hope you can come back sometime and see a bit more of the Island.

  • Susane was an amazing host and very accommodating. She was informative and shares with you current events and what is of interest to take advantage of while visiting. The bedroom was simple yet comfortable for a stay but it was her warm hospitality that makes the stay worth while. And her dog Romeo...what a super good dog, so friendly.
I will be staying there again upon my return there in a week.

  • Susane was an amazing host. She was knowledgeable and very accommodating.
Staying at such a friendly and comfortable place made a great beginning to our Prince Edward Island trip!

    Response from Susane:

Seems such a while since you were here. Summer has been great. Lisa and Dimitri were wonderful guests. So easy going and appreciative.

  • We enjoyed our stay with Susane (and Romeo). Our room was comfortable and clean. We had fun chatting with Susane and her other guest about PEI and things to do. We enjoyed fresh bagels and coffee in the mornings before heading out for the day.

    Response from Susane:

It was a pleasure meeting you two. You are so kind and gentle. I hope you are enjoying the rest of your trip across Canada and I know you do take lots of time to stop and smell the roses.

  • Susane was willing to take us last minute and welcomed us into the darling summer home she is renovating. The house is less than 10 minutes from downtown and also only a few blocks away from a main strip of restaraunts and stores. The dog, Romeo, is very friendly and didn't bark while we were there. He is small and older so even if you're not the biggest fan of dogs you could easily pretend he wasn't there. Susane even made us muffins for breakfast the next morning! She is kind and lovely to chat with as well :)

    Response from Susane:

Thank you ReAnna with an A. I am glad you mentioned Romeo as he is a sweet dog. And thank you for your lesson on the District of Columbia. Sounds like such a neat place to visit in the fall.

  • We loved our visit with Susane! She told us up front that her home was in the process of renovation, so we knew what to expect. Her home is a 1950's era suburban ranch style that she is improving on her summer visits. The location is great - just 5 minutes from downtown Charlottetown. We shared a bathroom with Susane and slept on a very comfortable bed. She shared our travel bar of cocktails with us in the evenings and had a nice continental breakfast for us in the mornings. She was very informative for our stay in Charlottetown, and she and her dog, Romeo, quickly became our good friends. We would love to visit her again!

    Response from Susane:

Thank you Becky, The kitchen floor did get replaced in one day. I just need to let airbnb guests know that there are no major renovations being done except continually keeping my space clean. My home is my cottage in the city and I love it. I did paint my beautiful white picket fence last summer but was not hosting airbnb guests, so don't be afraid to visit.

I was born and raised on Prince Edward island and currently reside in North Vancouver, British Columbia. I come home to PEI for the summer months as it is home to most of my extended family and family is very important to me. My work enables me to have summers off and I try hard to become a tourist. I enjoy traveling and the most important part of my travels is meeting new people, especially the locals of the areas my husband and I tend to visit. We are both avid cyclists (roadies), love hiking, running, cross country and alpine skiing and just mucking about. We never tire of walking the beautiful Boardwalk along the Charlottetown harbour, especially early in the morning. I am definitely a morning person as I learned long ago when my children were quite young that if it didn't get done by noon it wasn't going to get done. I few other things I learned as well is that there is no life before coffee and afternoon tea with a treat should be mandatory. I am pretty easy to get along with and enjoy accommodating my guests. I am around to help with useful information yet encourage my guests to come and go as they please.
