About This Listing
This chic and cool studio apartment in a charming Victorian home in Cole Valley merges the best of San Francisco, with classic 19th century architecture on the exterior, and a newly remodeled, beautiful studio apartment that features mod design and a cheerful and vibrant color scheme in the interior. (See notes on parking in last paragraph below)
Adjacent to the queen-size canopy bed there is a little nook of a room with sunny window and the absolute cutest twin bed, outfitted with colorful linens, a sweet reading lamp, and charming framed prints and paintings by local artists.
There is also a couch that opens to a full-size bed, which is very comfortable with a mattress topper. All in all, there are two beds (one queen, one twin), and a couch that can open to a bed. It can sleep 5 people easily, maybe 6 if two small ones squeeze onto the twin bed. If you have an infant, I also have a co-sleeper crib with sheets.
There is a fully outfitted kitchen with 4 stools and retro-chic tableware, perfect for cocktails. And speaking of cocktails, the neighborhood is lovely if you like great food and cocktails. A close walk to Cole Street, you can feast on gourmet tacos and drinks at local favorite Padrecito, topping it off with caramelized honey, creme fraiche and roasted pineapple sundaes at the Ice Cream Bar, also a fan favorite on Cole Street.
And if you worry you may have over-indulged, you can run (or stroll) it off the next morning with a circuit around nearby Golden Gate Park, featuring miles of gorgeous paths, and amazing museums like the Academy of Sciences and the DeYoung Museum. And if you're traveling with kids, there's a playground across the street (Grattan Playground), and an even more deluxe playground a short stroll away in Golden Gate Park.
The apartment has free wifi, a delightful new shower, and fully equipped kitchen. It is a ground floor apartment, but the entire home is two flights of stairs above the street, so it's very light, and very private, with the only people passing by being other inhabitants of the house.
We are relaxed, happy hosts-- here to help if you need it, and invisible if you prefer to relax without interruption. It is a fun, cheerful, and inspiring home, perfect for a vacation holiday. We love our home and hope you will, too.
If you have to mix pleasure with business, we're an eight minute walk to UCSF [Hospital], and a block and a half away from the MUNI N-Train which takes you straight downtown to work (and to shopping in Union Square and the Embarcadero), and 1 block away from multiple bus lines. If you are working down in Silicon Valley, the (website hidden), Genentech, Tesla, etc. shuttles all pick up within a couple blocks, as do the shuttle buses to UCSF Mission Bay.
In terms of getting to the apartment from the airport, you can take a cab here, a bus, the Super Shuttle (a very inexpensive, great way to get here-- just (website hidden) "Super Shuttle" to check fares and schedule a pick-up/ drop-off), or the MUNI train (it's right on the N line-- towards Ocean Beach if you're coming from downtown/ Civic Center; the N-Judah if you're coming from the other direction. Our stop is "Stanyan Street"). Getting here with public transportation is very inexpensive and very easy. You just take BART to the Civic Center stop from the airport, and transfer to the MUNI "N" line, going toward Ocean Beach. Our stop is Stanyan Street (at the intersection of Stanyan and Carl streets).
We are extremely close to multiple MUNI stops (San Francisco's public transportation system), so public transportation is easy, cheap and plentiful. However, if you're driving, please note that while we don't have a parking spot, it's a fairly easy neighborhood to find free parking in. However, while parking is free, it is not unlimited. They ticket every two hours from 8 am to 5 pm Monday through Friday, so you need to either move your car by 10 am (not too hard, there are usually spots to be found, and most people start their day by then anyway), or park in a nearby parking lot (Kezar Parking Lot is within a 10 minute walk down the street on Stanyan near Frederick Street, and you can pay to park all day for ~$20-~25 for 24 hours, should you want to leave your car there for the day). There are also some streets nearby (Rivoli street, for example) where you can park round the clock for ~48 hours for free and they don't ticket, but you have to search a bit for those spots as everyone wants them!
Welcome to our home, we are happy to have you here! While this is a self-contained unit with its own entrance, it is still a private home with a family living above. Please be quiet in the evening/ morning when leaving and returning home, as sound travels easily, and we don't want to deprive anyone of their sleep and sense of privacy. We expect kindness and respect, no crazy loud parties at all hours of the night, absolutely no smoking inside or out, and just general thoughtfulness.
As for “house rules,” we are happy to have your friends over, so long as everyone is respectful of the property and it doesn’t get too loud/ raucous. There is absolutely no smoking, either inside or outside. In general, other than the no tolerance ban on smoking, just do as you would have others do in your own home, and leave the place as clean and tidy as you found it when you arrived. In other words, just be nice. ;-)

My parents stayed here for an evening, and they really enjoyed their stay. I've never really hung out in this neighborhood, but it looked great from what I could tell when I drove by to pick them up. Stacey made it easy for them to come by, drop in and leave as they pleased.
We really enjoyed our stay at Stacey's place. It was convenient to everything we wanted to do and see. We ended up walking to the Golden Gate Bridge and over to the Fisherman's Wharf. It was a few miles but very nice and safe. The place is as described and very clean. Stacey was attentive and helped us with any questions. It was a good experience and I'd recommend it to anyone who, after looking at the listing, feels it is going to work for them. It did work for us.
Stacey was super helpful and friendly and the apartment was just as listed. After spending a day in the bustling city, it was always a nice cozy place to come "home" to. We took her recommendations for Yoga Tree down the road which was lovely and found the location of the apartment to be very walkable to lots -- food, coffee shops, shopping, etc. We used uber and lyft when we went into the city more and that was always super easy. When we come back to San Fran, we'd definitely stay again! Thanks for the great experience!
Very easy process! Stacey was very helpful and understanding. The place is exactly like the pictures and I love how organised it is with all the little notes around! Definitely good to have when you're in a foreign home. Thank you so much for your hospitality!! I hope we weren't too noisy!
Apartment was perfect. Comfortably fit 4 adults. Location is excellent. All the information left by Stacey in the apartment was perfect and very helpful. Couldn't be happier with our decision.
Eric was an amazingly lovely guest! I'm so sorry I spaced out and didn't get to write him a proper review in time, but suffice to say he and his friends were terrific-- quiet, considerate, and left the apartment in immaculate condition. I highly recommend hosting him. Thanks, Eric. And BTW, you were perfectly quiet coming and going-- thank you! :-)
We had the best time staying in Stacey's Cole Valley apartment. The unit was exactly as described, Kitchen Dragon and everything. Stacey has a great welcome package that includes excellent recommendations of what to do in the area and beyond, and we really liked that there was a hard copy of the house manual available.
The neighbourhood is in a great location. We enjoyed being close to dependable transit (something that doesn't happen often in Toronto) that takes less than 15 minutes to get into downtown or out to Cal Academy of Sciences. It was relaxing to come "home" to a quiet area at the end of the day, kick our feet up, and relax.
Stacey really does go above and beyond for her guests. After finding out that we were avid walkers, she brought down a San Francisco walks card deck, with 50 or so different neighbourhood walks. We were so touched by this gesture! We did a few of the walks in the deck and discovered some gems because of them.
Really, if you're having second thoughts about this place, don't. It was perfect :)
It is only my oversight that prevented me from writing the glowing review that Courtney deserves. What a guest! I cannot speak highly enough of her-- it is people like Courtney that make Airbnb such a positive, life-affirming enterprise. She was such a kind, warm and engaging guest (did I mention how spotlessly clean she left the apartment?!), and she even left me the most lovely hostess present. Talk about above and beyond-- Courtney is the real deal. The only regret I have is that she didn't stay longer. :-)

About the Host, Stacey
Hello! I'm a friendly, open, intellectually curious and creative artist / mother / wife, world traveler and explorer.
I love: a comfy couch + a new book, preferably with a hot cup of tea; a clean kitchen + bathroom; honest, friendly, like-minded people; and cooking + eating delicious food. I love Paris, Istanbul, London, NYC + LA and just about anywhere in Italy.
As Airbnb hosts, we are here if you need us, invisible if you don't; we certainly won't disturb you if you prefer privacy. We take our Airbnb hosting responsibilities seriously, and aim to make your visit to San Francisco as lovely, comfortable, and enjoyable as possible! :-)
