Shared bath, kitchen, & living room. Some storage space available, if needed (Old photos shown).

Quiet space. Live-in roomie is a chef-in-training (attending school while working) & will cook for you occasionally, if you don't have a problem with that.

I'm friendly and outgoing - will hang out with you a bit if you want, or let you do your thing - it's your vacation. :) I can give you pointers on where to go, what to see, and where to eat.

I have a very sweet cat named Turtle, but she is SO shy, you probably won't even see her while you're here.

Use of kitchen is openly welcomed - I love food and therefore love anyone that likes to eat or cook. Will provide space in fridge for your private food stash and show you the markets in the area.

I also have beach gear, so all you really need is sunblock. If you need it, I have the following:

Beach chair
Beach towels
Beach sheet
Solar-protective beach umbrella

Radio stations
and the list goes on...I will give you a quick tutorial.

Easy freeway & bus access. Even easier walk to the beach, Santa Monica Place (mall), Santa Monica Pier, & a great bike ride to Venice Beach. Lots of shops, restaurants, bars, outdoor activities easily accessible.

Guest Access

Access to the kitchen, bathroom, living room, and laundry room. Parking permit provided if you have a car.
I have plenty of pots and pans if you want to cook, and can make space in the fridge if you want it.
There is a TV in the living room, with cable, Blu-Ray, surround-sound, and various other options, if you ever want to just kick back for a bit.

Interaction with Guests

I'm pretty quiet when I'm home. I am usually out or in my room studying, so won't interfere with you too much during your stay, but am also willing to spend some time talking or having a drink with you, if you want.
I have enjoyed cooking for and sharing a meal with guests who have had a little longer of a stay, and have made some great friends as a result.
I've lived in the area for a long time, so if you want any ideas for things to do during your stay, please feel free to ask.

  • Maria was very nice to tell us all the local information about sightseeing, shopping and (website hidden) is of great use! Her apartment is also nice and can provide all the kitchen utensils. Also it is great to walk to the Santa Monica beach from her home! Thanks for all the kindness and convenience!

  • I loved my stay with Maria!! The place is great, the room has everything you can ever wish for. The location is perfect, everything walking distance apart in Santa Monica. Maria is a wonderful host, it felt like we would have been roomates for years. She spoiled me with yummy soup and even woke up 5am to help me with the taxi when I left. Communication with her before the stay was really good and easy.

  • Maria is an incredible Host! We spent 3 nights at her casa in Santa Monica and it honestly felt like we were coming home every evening rather than to a stale hotel room. We spent most of our trip roaming LA and Santa Monica, but the times we got to sit and relax with her at home were wonderful and we became great friends. She is very giving, understanding, and fantastic at giving recommendations as to where to visit, eat, etc... even how to dress for the right weather there since we weren't used to the West coast. Turtle (her adorable cat) even came out to say hi once! We will definitely be staying with her again if we ever head back to that area and we hope that she comes to visit us in Hoboken! The only downfall was that we didn't get to stay with her longer and get to know her even more because our trip continued up north.

  • Wonderful place to stay! Our poor host was sick most of the time we were there, so we didn't get to know her as well as we'd liked, but the times we did get to chat were lovely. And, she shared her own homemade chicken noodle soup with us -- absolutely delicious! It's walking distance to the beach and downtown, or a cheap cab ride if you don't feel like walking every single time. Nice comfy bed, and Maria offered lots of neat little shampoos and such, along with a towel for the beach and sunscreen! Very low-key, welcoming, and enjoyable. Thanks, Maria! And glad you're feeling better. :)

Local beacher, Chef-in-Training, familiar with local spots/events/eateries, hiking trails. Easy-going, relaxed vibe in-house, working student. I like to skateboard, bike, hike, beach, beach volleyball, bbq (cook in general), and relax when I can. Looking for a happy renter, looking to explore the city, have some fun while here, and have a clean, safe place to lay their head at night. Turtle (the cat) will protect you. :)
