Come & stay in my cosy private apartment, only 9 mins walk to Holyrood Palace/Royal Mile and 15 mins walk to Princes St. Breakfast, linen & fresh towels included plus free parking.
Welcome! My apartment is a great place to stay if you want more than a hotel or serviced apartment can offer.
Quality breakfast foods (artisan bread, jams, homemade marmalade, free-range eggs, milk, freshly squeezed juice, cereal, tea, ground coffee etc.) are supplied and I take pride in ensuring everything is spotlessly clean and ready for your stay.
My apartment is on the top floor (3rd floor, accessed via a shared spiral staircase - like most Edinburgh buildings there is no lift/elevator) and has dramatic views over the rooftops to Arthur's Seat, the iconic extinct volcano that towers over the city. It is in a traditional Victorian building (built in 1890) in the central, safe and friendly neighbourhood of Abbeyhill. It is off the main road and the street is quiet with very little traffic. There is free parking in the streets outside the apartment which is rare in Edinburgh.
Perfect for a single traveller, couple or small family (baby cot available), the apartment is bright and modern with with a cushioned window seat from which to enjoy the sunshine and stunning view. All recently refurbished with a new kitchen, bathroom and floors throughout. There's an electric shower over a small bath, the living/kitchen/dining room feels spacious and is really comfortable and cosy.
Fully equipped with gas central heating, WiFi internet (average speed 10Mb/s), large fridge/freezer, washing machine/drying rack/iron/ironing board, hair dryer, electric espresso machine, gas hob, electric oven, plenty of cooking equipment, basic food ingredients (olive oil, spices etc). There's a digital radio/alarm in both the bedroom and living room.
The whole apartment is yours to enjoy and you can come and go as you please.
I work in the arts and so can advise you on what's going on locally if you're interested in seeing a performance or visiting the galleries. Maps, tourist leaflets, restaurant guides and info on the immediately local area are available in the flat. There are also books and a library of playscripts for you to enjoy while you stay.
Interaction with Guests
Quite often my work takes me away from home on certain days so I wont be able to meet you personally and so will arrange to leave keys nearby for you to collect. You can contact me by phone or on airbnb at anytime during your stay.
Check-in and check-out times are flexible and I will try and accommodate your schedule whenever possible. It's really helpful to know your travel plans so please let me know what time you intend to arrive and depart and by what method of transport when you book.
This is a safe and friendly, city centre neighbourhood where lots of local Edinburghers live. Just around the corner are a good selection of shops including an excellent artisan baker/patisserie, an Italian cafe and a brilliant independent wine shop. There's a great contemporary Indian restaurant/takeout, an excellent Thai restaurant/takeout, an acclaimed local/seasonal restaurant and a well respected Italian very close by. Edinburgh has many fantastic restaurants within easy reach and I include recommendations and my favourites in your booking confirmation.
The city centre shops on Princes St. are just a 15 minute walk and Holyrood Palace on the Royal Mile is less than 10 minutes walk. A good bus service runs every few minutes (24 hours, £1.50 fixed fare) from the top of the road and Edinburgh Tour Buses also stop nearby. The nearest tram stop is York Place (10 min walk) and from here you can get the tram directly to Murrayfield Stadium in 15 minutes and to the airport in 35 minutes.
Other Things to Note
There is no TV, if you want to watch there is high speed WiFi so bring a laptop/tablet and you can watch almost anything.
Sometimes, if someone else is arriving the same day as you leave I need people to check out at 10am.
No smoking and no parties! The apartment is in a quiet neighbourhood in a traditional shared tenement block so please respect the neighbours and you'll have a great time. I try to recycle as much as possible and conserve energy so please help out with this.
