This place was great, beautiful, and peaceful. We got to chat with our hosts quite a bit and they were really awesome people. We stayed in a cabin down a hill from the house and breakfast cabin, breakfast every morning was fantastic. Everything we needed was provided, including some knowledge of the area. Fantastic
Shirley and Fred were great. The cabin is immaculate as are the large grounds. The welcome was warm, the king bed (two comfortable doubles lashed together) was perfect, water hot and the breakfasts scrumptious.
Shirley and Fred are terrific hosts and they run a wonderful business. The cottages are well designed, clean and comfortable. The setting in peaceful and relaxing. And the breakfast shed, where breakfasts are served, is a friendly spot where Shirley and Fred greet locals and return visitors by name -- and even knows their birthdays! Fred produces great meals. We felt lucky to have found the Sunrise Cottages on Airbnb and will definitely return. We highly recommend. Shirley and Fred will treat you well.
The cabins are very nice, clean and extremely comfortable! And the location is wonderful too, beautiful and quiet. Only a short drive to Deer Island, a little longer to Bar Harbor/Acadia National Park.
Shirley and Fred are good hosts, very friendly, and Fred makes excellent breakfasts! The breakfast is quite popular, it is open to outside (non-B&B) customers on the weekends and quickly fills up with a local clientele.
What we appreciated the most was how quiet it was, and the beautiful surroundings. I would recommend it in a heartbeat to anyone visiting Deer Island or Acadia National Park.
Shirley and Fred were friendly, attentive hosts. The cottage was very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was superb! Would definitely stay here again!
We had a wonderful stay at Shirley and Fred's place this past weekend! There was a bit of a miscommunication in the beginning about the fact that we were traveling with our six-month-old but Shirley and Fred were incredibly flexible and helpful in resolving it. They're fantastic hosts and people...we really enjoyed getting to chat with them on our last day after breakfast (which, WOW, was exceptionally great both days). The cabins are adorable, clean, and very comfortable and private - Shirley and Fred have anticipated guests' needs and wants better than most hotels... Would highly recommend a trip to Brooksville and a stay at the Sunrise Cottages. We hope to make it back again soon!
Wonderful!!!! Shirley and Fred were very helpful and accommodating! A stay here is a must!!!
About the Host, Shirley & Fred
My husband Fred, and I moved to Maine from Cape Cod in 2001 and built Sunrise Cottages and the Breakfast Shed. Together we operate the business from mowing the lawns to cleaning the cottages. Fred is the trained cook who prepares the breakfasts for our guests. We love traveling and for the past 6 years have been spending our winters in different countries in Central and South America. Different cultures have been the inspiration for our "international breakfast specials" which we offer every weekend.
