Country living in town COMFY!

House - Private room · Gilham Rd, Eugene, OR 97401, United States

The Space

Comfy private home, 2 bdr, 1 1/2 bath, nice garden, two miles north of downtown. Country cottage style with large yard, central location.
Kitchen access, wireless, home owner sometimes home, sometimes on the road. Men's Road and mountain bike available.

Bedrooms are upstairs and include owner's room and spare room that is often rented individually. Both bathrooms are on main floor. You have exclusive use of the half bath, and share the full bath if you are just renting the spare room.. Towels, soap and shampoo provided like any motel. But the goal is for you to enjoy access and use of the whole house, including kitchen and refrigerator space.

Four major grocery stores, and three shopping centers nearby. Motel 6 is $59 off I 5. Ridiculous...Stay with me, friendly comfort, better bed, free wireless, full kitchen, close to campus and downtown for less.
Oakway shopping center, Gateway Mall and Valley River Center all nearby.
Near river bikepaths, Pre's Trail, parks in every direction.
Owner is often away so you may have the place to yourself, but he is also quiet, respectful and doesn't have to entertain you if you want your space.
Both bathrooms are on main floor. Towels, soap and shampoo provided like any motel. But the goal is for you to enjoy access and use of the whole house, including kitchen and refrigerator space.
During the summer you can eat blueberries, cherries, strawberries, raspberries and vegies from "your" own garden.
I've learned a better way to invite guest to be comfortable. Imagine you are staying with an old college (email hidden)'s not the Ritz, but not Motel 6 either.

  • Spur of the moment need yielded great opportunity at Randy's. Though we were not there long, place was great, Randy hospitable and gracious.

  • Me and a friend had tickets to the first Ducks game of the season and since it was in the evening, we decided to spend the night in Eugene. I called several hotels and they were either full or charging outrageous prices. A friend told me about airbnb so I checked it out. I contacted Randy and he got right back to me. The whole transaction went seamlessly and before we knew it we were in Eugene. The accommodations were clean and cozy. Randy was out of town, but gave me great instructions, so we felt at home right away. I did call Randy with a question and he got back to me within five minutes after leaving him a voicemail.

Staying at Randy's helped make our trip perfect. I'm so glad I took my friend's advice to check out the website. If I go to any more games in Eugene, I will definitely make a reservation to stay there again. Thanks Randy!!!

  • Randy was the perfect host and we spent a great time in Eugene. He his very friendly, and his house perfectly located. We would recommend!

    August 2012
  • Randy was very generous and his home felt like our home. He knew Eugene very well and helped us with everything we needed. He was a wonderful host and the blueberry pancakes were great.

  • We did a long road trip to British Columbia from San Francisco and Eugene was the midway point we've decided to rest for the night. Randy's home was the perfect place for our over night stay-over; he communicated well with me on what to expect and the other details of a first time AirBnB'er should expect. Randy also prepares his well-known sourdough pancakes for breakfast and we actually regret and feel bad for not being able to try it because we were such in a hurry for our long drive the following day. As advertised, Randy is like an "old room mate!"

If we head up to Canada again (via road), we'll definitely stay over at Randy's again.

  • very pleasant stay - Randy is a very interesting fellow with an equally interesting background and experience working in many areas of the world -so great for people from different countries - room was as advertised and do ask for the pancakes if he is there- recommended

  • Randy was so generous to share his home and garden with us ! Everything we needed was available in his kitchen so we could fix our own breakfast, and even pick fresh blueberries from his garden.
We felt very welcomed and comfortable , and everything was very clean .
A very positive experience ...Thanks Randy !

  • Good location. Close to downtown. Randy is a native to Eugene, so he can be helpful with bus lines, where to eat, all the local information you may need. Quiet neighborhood.

    July 2012
  • Nice bed, great house. Randy was very accommodating and friendly. Gave us a lot of good information and maps on things we could do and see while staying there.
