Comfortable and chic this newly refurbished apartment has views of the iconic Tower Bridge and benefits from a bustling, arty and design environment. Enjoy the fabulous local restaurants and bars, amongst the best in London or the gourmet kitchen.

The Space

Beautiful, secure, double bedroom apartment at the southern end of Tower Bridge. Five minutes walk to London Bridge, fantastic transport connections - Jubilee and Northern tube routes (5 mins), bus stops and Boris Bikes right outside. River taxi close.

Swift access to West End (mega shopping, Parliament and Buckingham Palace, West End shows) and the City (Stock Exchange, Bank of England, St Paul's, Canary Wharf). Walk just a few steps to Tower Bridge across the pretty Potters Field park and take a lovely walk along the Thames. Turn left for Tate Modern, The Globe, Southbank, London Eye, The Shard, HMS Belfast, Golden Hind or right for St Catherine's Dock and Shad Thames (Design Museum) or walk over Tower Bridge to the Tower of London.

Surrounded by hip bars and lovely restaurants (very close to the great foodie and style destination of Bermondsey St), local cafes for breakfast and lunch, quality supermarkets, fresh food markets (Borough and Maltby St), 24/7 convenience stores and many local green spaces with lovely gardens and play activities for children. The apartment is opposite City Hall where the Lord Mayor of London works and it is fun to sit at the breakfast bar and watch from the window to see if you can spot Boris Johnson or other celebrities that live nearby or enjoy the view of Tower Bridge.

Amenities in the apartment include:
luxury double bed, large wardrobe, designer bathroom with underfloor heating and heated towel rail, waterfall shower, shaver point, designer kitchen with quality cookware and china, dining table (seats up to 6), Neff appliances, fridge/freezer, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, tumbledryer, hairdryer, iron, large sofa bed with luxury mattress, large cuddle chair, storage space and art works.

The apartment is particularly suitable for people with pet allergies and has been refurbished to minimise dust.

The apartment can sleep up to 4 people (2 in the bedroom and 2 in the living room). There is a 2 metre wardrobe for clothes in the bedroom and cupboards and storage for garments etc in the living room. The separate kitchen with breakfast bar seating means that it is possible to get away from your other travellers for a while.

Guest Access

The apartment is self contained and newly refurbished to very high standard: large living room with very comfortable sofa bed (deluxe mattress), dining table and 4 chairs, wireless internet, 3 TVs (2 smart, 1 standard), internet radio, Ipod dock, fully equipped designer kitchen with granite breakfast bar (seats 4) with partial window views of Tower Bridge. Beautiful at night! Complimentary tea and coffee provided. Double bedroom with tented lighting effect, designer bathroom with waterfall shower, underfloor heating. Luxury 400 thread count bedlinens, towels, toiletries, dressing gowns, wooden floors, spotlessly clean. Lift - the apartment is on the 4th floor - please note there are 8 steps to access the lift. Families welcome, playpark and youth/children's theatre across the road.

Interaction with Guests

I am a Londoner and a warm and welcoming host. Come and stay in the best location in London and live like a local. If you wish I can suggest sightseeing itineries or more creative ideas like breakfast in London and lunch in Paris or trips out to the seaside. I can also provide a Welcome Hamper on request with English breads and pastries, preserves, butter, fruit, wine, coffee and tea.

For check-in and out I have indicated flexible terms. However I cannot accept check-in requests later than 10pm. I will always try and accommodate your requests, especially if you want to drop off suitcases but how flexible I can be will be determined by the requirements of guests that already have confirmed reservations. Please let me know what your check-in and out requirements are likely to be when you enquire about availability.

I will personally greet you and show you around where possible and points out local places that may be of particular interest for you.

The Neighborhood

The area is full of London life with bars, cafes and restaurants serving the local and business community during the day and night. A youth theatre and independent cinema complete the entertainment and there is always plenty to see as there are regular events in the park opposite the apartment or on the walk along the Thames to the Southbank.
The area has developed a richly deserved reputation for being a destination for food lovers with wonderful food markets if you like to cook or equally wonderful restaurants it you don't. You can opt for romantic riverside dining or cruise the restaurants on Bermondsey St which has some of London's best dining destinations such as Zucca. I have yet to have a bad meal on Bermondsey St and there is an extensive range of cuisine to choose from.
The area is also known for its art and culture with venues ranging from the Tate Modern to independent galleries within easy walking distance plus the delights of The Design and Textile Museums and The White Cube Art Gallery. There is also a large antiques warehouse within 300 metres which is always fascinating and at the Saturday Maltby St Market other independent vintage and antiques shops open their doors.
The Shard is within an easy walk for wonderful views of London especially at the Level 32 Oblix cocktail lounge. The nearby Hide Cocktail Bar is also a hot favourite with the locals.
There are many green spaces next to and around the apartment to enjoy including the Tanner St Tennis Courts and riverside Potters Fields that hosts events throughout the year.

Getting around

The apartment is extremely well located for transport. London Bridge is the nearest Underground (tube) station and that has the Northern and Jubilee Lines which will quickly deliver you to anywhere that you want to go, either as a tourist or a local.
There are bikes for hire directly opposite the apartment as well as a bus stop where the tourist hop on hop off open top buses stop. These buses tour the sights and it is a good way to see a lot of London.
There is also a taxi rank a couple of minutes walk away along with the Pier for the River Taxi so you can travel up and down the river in style.
You can quickly reach Gatwick, Luton and Stansted Airports by a direct train link from London Bridge Railway Station and Heathrow Airport is an easy journey by tube. You can also access the Eurostar easily for trips to Paris and Brussels. London Bridge Railway Station also has direct services to the British coastal towns of Brighton, Margate and Hastings amongst others.

  • Merrie's apartment was perfect for my families stay in London. It is beautifully presented (unless you do not like orange...) and big enough for the four of us. Merrie is a wonderful host who met us on arrival with cool water on a hot English day (well not that hot for Aussies). There is so much to see close by and it is always nice to come back to a comfortable place at the end of the day. Merrie suggested we see Warhorse and what a wonderful show it was. I would highly recommend Merrie's place to anyone.

  • What a fantastic place & fabulous location. What makes it even more special was the warm & fantastic greeting from Merrie. Fantastic host which made our stay with our 2 young kids even more relaxing. Thank you Merrie for everything. Would recommend your fabulous place & kindness to all our friends & family.

  • This was our first time booking via AirBnB. It was all excellent. Merrie was a great host and this apartment was perfect for us four, 2 adults and 2 teenagers. The communication was perfect. Even changed flight schedules were no problem and Merrie always tried to help and get things managed. The location is great! You can see Tower Bridge from the kitchen window. Bus stop right in front of the building, tube station just a short walk, restaurants and breakfast places close by, bike rental just across the street.

The apartment itself is just as in the description. There is everything you need, we did not miss a thing. The kitchen is wonderful especially the view (did I mention that already? ;) ) We felt pretty much at home.

Well what more can I say? Maybe this: When we visit London next time, we will book Merrie's place!!

Hi Thomas Many thanks for your lovely review. I am so glad that you had such a good time. Many thanks for the extra duvet suggestion. I should definitely think about this for my German guests because when we go to Germany or Austria there are always separate duvets.

  • Already my second stay at Merrie's apartment and again it was wonderful! Before booking I had looked at many other accommodations all around London, but I came back to Merrie's because I knew it would be the perfect spot in the perfect location for a reasonable price. Not only is the apartment furnished and decorated with excellent taste, it is also so well equipped, you really don't miss a thing. We really liked the slippers and cozy bath robes and all the little amenities in the bath room. There was even a pint of fresh milk in the fridge when we arrived. Such a nice touch. And your morning coffee just tastes that much better with that view from the breakfast bar. We could have sat there for hours :)

Merrie is a lovely and helpful host and really interested in her guests getting the most out of their stay in London. She will provide you with many tipps for restaurants and bars in the area and has a collection of magazines and flyers for upcoming events. You can hardly decide where to go first ;)
Communication with her is easy and quick, she usually answers within minutes. When we had some minor problems in the apartment on our first day, she even offered that her husband could come over and check on it on his way home.

So if you're looking for a chic place to stay in an interesting area of London with easy access to transportation and a host that really makes you feel welcome, don't look any further!

  • Stunning apartment in a great location, just a short walk to London Bridge station. Merrie was the perfect host who provided us with loads of information about restaurants and attractions in the area. There were lots of extra comforts in the apartment which was lovely. All the amenities close by. Merrie was very understanding and kind when our flights and trains were delayed. Thank you Merrie!

  • Merrie's apartment is great. Great location, great host and great place. Just really sorry that we couldn't have stayed longer.
Merrie keeps the apartment spotlessly clean and really goes out of her way to make her guests feel welcome. The beers in the fridge were a nice touch!
Would deffinatley stay her again either on a business trip or for a city break and recommend it without hesitation

  • An absolutely wonderful place to stay! Merrie is a perfect AirBnB host, very generous in sharing tips and ideas, and making a real effort to help us get the most out of our stay. The apartment itself is gorgeous, with a real sense of style, very comfortable and well appointed, and brilliantly located. The local area is one of London's most vibrant. Transport links are great too. For a couple, there simply would be no better apartment for a stay in London. I've given 5 stars to other properties, but this one deserves 6.

  • This is a perfect spot to discover South Bank and all the areas around. At night the view at The Tower Bridge was very inspiring. The apartment itself is very luxury with lots of details. We enjoyed everything of it. Merry gave me a lot of tips to do, where to eat and which gallery's to visit, what we also did. She and her husband were very friendly and helpfull. Go to the Shard building, bar Obelix, nip at a cocktail and enjoy London from the sky by dusk. Linda and Rudi Belgium
