Interaction with Guests
I am a Londoner and a warm and welcoming host. Come and stay in the best location in London and live like a local. If you wish I can suggest sightseeing itineries or more creative ideas like breakfast in London and lunch in Paris or trips out to the seaside. I can also provide a Welcome Hamper on request with English breads and pastries, preserves, butter, fruit, wine, coffee and tea.
For check-in and out I have indicated flexible terms. However I cannot accept check-in requests later than 10pm. I will always try and accommodate your requests, especially if you want to drop off suitcases but how flexible I can be will be determined by the requirements of guests that already have confirmed reservations. Please let me know what your check-in and out requirements are likely to be when you enquire about availability.
I will personally greet you and show you around where possible and points out local places that may be of particular interest for you.
The area is full of London life with bars, cafes and restaurants serving the local and business community during the day and night. A youth theatre and independent cinema complete the entertainment and there is always plenty to see as there are regular events in the park opposite the apartment or on the walk along the Thames to the Southbank.
The area has developed a richly deserved reputation for being a destination for food lovers with wonderful food markets if you like to cook or equally wonderful restaurants it you don't. You can opt for romantic riverside dining or cruise the restaurants on Bermondsey St which has some of London's best dining destinations such as Zucca. I have yet to have a bad meal on Bermondsey St and there is an extensive range of cuisine to choose from.
The area is also known for its art and culture with venues ranging from the Tate Modern to independent galleries within easy walking distance plus the delights of The Design and Textile Museums and The White Cube Art Gallery. There is also a large antiques warehouse within 300 metres which is always fascinating and at the Saturday Maltby St Market other independent vintage and antiques shops open their doors.
The Shard is within an easy walk for wonderful views of London especially at the Level 32 Oblix cocktail lounge. The nearby Hide Cocktail Bar is also a hot favourite with the locals.
There are many green spaces next to and around the apartment to enjoy including the Tanner St Tennis Courts and riverside Potters Fields that hosts events throughout the year.
The apartment is extremely well located for transport. London Bridge is the nearest Underground (tube) station and that has the Northern and Jubilee Lines which will quickly deliver you to anywhere that you want to go, either as a tourist or a local.
There are bikes for hire directly opposite the apartment as well as a bus stop where the tourist hop on hop off open top buses stop. These buses tour the sights and it is a good way to see a lot of London.
There is also a taxi rank a couple of minutes walk away along with the Pier for the River Taxi so you can travel up and down the river in style.
You can quickly reach Gatwick, Luton and Stansted Airports by a direct train link from London Bridge Railway Station and Heathrow Airport is an easy journey by tube. You can also access the Eurostar easily for trips to Paris and Brussels. London Bridge Railway Station also has direct services to the British coastal towns of Brighton, Margate and Hastings amongst others.
Please respect our neighbours and remove noisy outdoor shoes when walking around the apartment. I provide slippers for your comfort.
Please do not play loud music or TV at antisocial hours ie after 11pm and before 7 am. If you are using the sofa bed please can you lower the bed by 10pm to reduce the noise for the downstairs neighbours.
The apartment is strictly non smoking.
We do not allow pets as my husband is asthmatic and we often use the apartment ourselves
You will need to supply a photo ID when starting your stay.
Main rule: enjoy your stay!
This was our first experience of Airbnb. Merrie's apartment is lovely. It was ideally located for us visiting The Tower, Borough Market, Globe Theatre and Greenwich. It was welcoming and warm, a pleasure to return to each day after touring London in February. The kitchen is ideal for preparing meals if you don't want to go out dining, and there is a nice dining table. The shower is excellent. There is a washing machine and drier for your laundry. Merrie at all times responded quickly to any queries, and genuinely cared for her guests. A great Airbnb host. Highly recommended.
We had a wonderful time at this AirBnB unit. Merrie was very good with the communications -- we even met the day before so she could show me how to use the gadgets in the apartment.
The unit is very well situated -- one block south of Tower Bridge. A short walk to London Bridge Station underground. There is also Bus 381 which will take you to Waterloo where you can catch many underground lines. There is a very convenient Tesco Metro that is open till 11pm.
The unit is as described. We would definitely love to come back given the location and convenience.
We felt welcome as soon as we made the booking enquiry for this fantastic apartment and we loved every aspect of our 10 day stay. The location is brilliant and we enjoyed many of the local restaurants that were suggested (especially the Magdalen) and walked off all those delicious calories by exploring the neighbourhood. It has such an exciting buzz but the flat itself is quiet, warm and relaxing with iconic London views.
Thanks Merrie, you absolutely understand the needs and wants of travellers and anticipated much more! We were sad to leave but highly recommend this apartment to others and hope to make our way back here one day.
What a great step up from a London stay in a hotel room! The apartment is as clean, modern, well kept and comfortable as advertised. Great location and wonderful support from Merrie made it a memorable stay for the three of us.
Merrie was very welcoming, the apartment is lovely, positioned with great views. Merrie has thought of everything, there was nothing I needed that wasn't there.
It was lovely coming from Summer in my country to Winter here to have a lovely warm apartment 24 hours a day, also lovely to be in walking distance of most of what London has to offer.
All together it's been a great two weeks and I will definitely stay in the apartment when I come back to London.
Merrie was amazing - just like the place. Views of tower bridge and a short walk to everything. We enjoyed our time so much and Merrie was very accessible and sweet. Apartment is clean and modern and everything its described as online. Absolutely wonderful all around!
Merrie's apartment is awesome, spot on with the photos, very clean, and centrally located! Easy to get around with the Tube, bus, and bike rentals so close by. The apartment is very organized, has everything one would need, and the view from the kitchen is killer. The beds were comfortable and it was a major plus to be able to use the washer/dryer. Merrie was so kind to help me organize what activities were best to group together because I had quite a list of places I wanted to see. She also has an awesome binder that suggests where to eat and what you need to know about the apartment. It was great that Merrie greets you when you arrive, the in service about how to use the keys was particularly handy. My best friend and I enjoyed our stay, we would love to stay again!
I'm a fun loving Londoner who works for a charity. I enjoy art, theatre and film, meals with friends and time with my family. I love sharing my enjoyment of London and hope to add something special to your stay so you will go home with unique memories of your trip. If you wish I can help you plan fulfilling day trips in London or more adventurous ideas such as breakfast in London, lunch in Paris! I also offer a Welcome Hamper with English breads, jams, pastries, butter, wine, milk, juices and fruit. Just ask!
