Interaction with Guests
I am a Londoner and a warm and welcoming host. Come and stay in the best location in London and live like a local. If you wish I can suggest sightseeing itineries or more creative ideas like breakfast in London and lunch in Paris or trips out to the seaside. I can also provide a Welcome Hamper on request with English breads and pastries, preserves, butter, fruit, wine, coffee and tea.
For check-in and out I have indicated flexible terms. However I cannot accept check-in requests later than 10pm. I will always try and accommodate your requests, especially if you want to drop off suitcases but how flexible I can be will be determined by the requirements of guests that already have confirmed reservations. Please let me know what your check-in and out requirements are likely to be when you enquire about availability.
I will personally greet you and show you around where possible and points out local places that may be of particular interest for you.
The area is full of London life with bars, cafes and restaurants serving the local and business community during the day and night. A youth theatre and independent cinema complete the entertainment and there is always plenty to see as there are regular events in the park opposite the apartment or on the walk along the Thames to the Southbank.
The area has developed a richly deserved reputation for being a destination for food lovers with wonderful food markets if you like to cook or equally wonderful restaurants it you don't. You can opt for romantic riverside dining or cruise the restaurants on Bermondsey St which has some of London's best dining destinations such as Zucca. I have yet to have a bad meal on Bermondsey St and there is an extensive range of cuisine to choose from.
The area is also known for its art and culture with venues ranging from the Tate Modern to independent galleries within easy walking distance plus the delights of The Design and Textile Museums and The White Cube Art Gallery. There is also a large antiques warehouse within 300 metres which is always fascinating and at the Saturday Maltby St Market other independent vintage and antiques shops open their doors.
The Shard is within an easy walk for wonderful views of London especially at the Level 32 Oblix cocktail lounge. The nearby Hide Cocktail Bar is also a hot favourite with the locals.
There are many green spaces next to and around the apartment to enjoy including the Tanner St Tennis Courts and riverside Potters Fields that hosts events throughout the year.
The apartment is extremely well located for transport. London Bridge is the nearest Underground (tube) station and that has the Northern and Jubilee Lines which will quickly deliver you to anywhere that you want to go, either as a tourist or a local.
There are bikes for hire directly opposite the apartment as well as a bus stop where the tourist hop on hop off open top buses stop. These buses tour the sights and it is a good way to see a lot of London.
There is also a taxi rank a couple of minutes walk away along with the Pier for the River Taxi so you can travel up and down the river in style.
You can quickly reach Gatwick, Luton and Stansted Airports by a direct train link from London Bridge Railway Station and Heathrow Airport is an easy journey by tube. You can also access the Eurostar easily for trips to Paris and Brussels. London Bridge Railway Station also has direct services to the British coastal towns of Brighton, Margate and Hastings amongst others.
Please respect our neighbours and remove noisy outdoor shoes when walking around the apartment. I provide slippers for your comfort.
Please do not play loud music or TV at antisocial hours ie after 11pm and before 7 am. If you are using the sofa bed please can you lower the bed by 10pm to reduce the noise for the downstairs neighbours.
The apartment is strictly non smoking.
We do not allow pets as my husband is asthmatic and we often use the apartment ourselves
You will need to supply a photo ID when starting your stay.
Main rule: enjoy your stay!
We arrived on Friday and Merrie was easily contactable and her directions to the apartment were spot on. Not that we needed them as she had started walking down the road to meet us!
We loved this apartment and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. It was clean and modern and simply can't fault it. There was nothing else we could have needed or wanted. The location is superb for Tower Bridge, you can even see it from the kitchen window! The major bus tours also stop right across the road. It's close to central London and the tube station, but there are also plenty bars/restaurants of good quality nearby, plus supermarkets for essential is you don't want to stray too far.
This was a home from home in the few days were away.
Thanks Merrie for making us so welcome in your home.
I can't imagine a better experience in terms of apartment location, comfort, attention to detail, and hospitable attitude of the host. Merrie's place is beautiful and has "easy-everything". Merrie's attention to detail ffrom her excellent communication, recommendations, warm and inviting personality to her beautiful home are second to none. If you are looking for the perfect flat to enjoy this great city look not further. This by far was my best experience with Airbnb. Thank you Merrie and if we are ever back in London I know where I would like to stay!
Merrie was very welcoming and made my husband and I feel very comfortable even before we arrived at her charming London flat. The day we arrived Merrie gave us a excellent orientation of her apartment and made us feel at home. The apartment is decorated so tastefully with so much beautiful detail, soft lighting and fully equipped kitchen. The heated floor in the bathroom and warm towel racks were a wonderful treat. The apartment was very quiet and safe. It has a incredible view of the Tower Bridge and made us feel we were right in the heart of London. It is very centrally located and it is in a very vibrant neighborhood. There are excellent restaurants, cafes and pubs within easy walking distance whether on the main street or the river walk. Transportation is very close. Many of the sites are within walking distance. We stayed at other places and Merrie was exceptional in communicating with us before and during our stay. We would recommend this gem to all of our friends and would rent it again on our return to London. We would rate this place 5 stars.
Before arriving Merrie was in constant communication with us guided us well to the property. She was waiting for us when we arrived and showed us the apartment
We had a great time staying at Merrie's apartment. It was a very well designed and maintained cosy city apartment fitted with top class appliances and decor.
We enjoyed the great view of the tower bridge with our breakfast every morning and the beautiful walk by the river.
Connectivity to many parts of the city is also very convenient by train or buses that runs frequently right in front of the apartment.
It is also the cleanest apartment we have experienced with airbnb.
My wife loved the careful thought with the bathroom amenities. Great smelling mini shampoo, facial cotton and cotton buds. Small things that adds a hotel-like feel to the already comfortable apartment.
There were a few places nearby for grocery shopping so there's no problems at all if one would like to eat in, or grab cereals and milk for breakfast. We frequented the M&S and Tesco metro during our stay, both within 5 minutes walk from the apartment.
The file compiled by Merrie was very useful. Many suggestions for museums, eateries, must-visit places, it was filled with ideas to make one's stay in London more enjoyable.
We would definitely would love to stay again next time we're in London!
Excellent apartment in a relatively quiet area of the city, with easy access to either the London Bridge or Tower Hill tube stations.
The flat has plenty of space, with a modern kitchen and bathroom. If I'm being picky, perhaps the bed is a little small - but, hey, my wife and I had four good nights' sleep, so can't really complain.
Noise-wise, you will hear passing trains and traffic - plus the wooden floors make the footsteps from above a little annoying. None of that is too big a deal, however - plus it's no worse than what you'd get from nearby hotels. It's a fact of life while staying in a city centre.
Merrie was a lovely host, giving us a terrific welcome and introduction while handing us the keys. The flat was spotless. The WiFi worked faultlessly and, even though we didn't use them, there are TVs and a radio.
I'd very strongly recommend her flat as a place to stay.
My wife and I spent a week at Merrie's flat and found it to be most excellent! It definitely has a "wow" factor…very chic, clean, bright and well stocked for everyday needs. Enjoyed coffee each morning looking out at Tower Bridge as we got ready for the day..nice view and a grab location. Plenty of shops and fine restaurants nearby. Merrie is a most helpful and accommodating host, and made our stay very comfortable. A lovely apartment and a most gracious host…you won't be disappointed.
This was our first experience of Airbnb. Merrie's apartment is lovely. It was ideally located for us visiting The Tower, Borough Market, Globe Theatre and Greenwich. It was welcoming and warm, a pleasure to return to each day after touring London in February. The kitchen is ideal for preparing meals if you don't want to go out dining, and there is a nice dining table. The shower is excellent. There is a washing machine and drier for your laundry. Merrie at all times responded quickly to any queries, and genuinely cared for her guests. A great Airbnb host. Highly recommended.
