Our one-room cottage with sleeping loft, kitchen facilities, and full private bathroom nearby is set amidst 23 acres of rolling meadows and woods; perfect spot for writer, artist, or seeker of tranquility. Hike, visit nearby Shelburne Falls or Northampton, or meditate in our walled garden. $550/week, $75/night
A private, secluded retreat on the beautiful grounds of an 1815 farmhouse. The cabin is sunny, breezy, and has a beautiful view of the fields and woods.
Guests can wander in our gardens, most of which are not visible from our house. A path leads up through the woods and an abandoned orchard to the top of a hill with incredible views in all directions. Feel free to help yourself to any fruits, vegetables, or flowers.
The full, private, brand-new bathroom is not in the cabin, but down a well-lit 125-foot walk to an ell off the barn.
The studio does not have Wifi, but WiFi is available in the sitting area in front of the farmhouse or in the barn.
There is no cellphone reception in the immediate area. You are free to use our landline or the WiFi in the farmhouse.
However much or as little interaction with us as the guest wants
We are 10 minutes away from picturesque Shelburne Falls on the Deerfield River, home of the Bridge of Flowers and the Glacial Potholes; several dining options and interesting shops. 40 minutes from Northampton, a bustling college town with many stores and restaurants.
Close to Mass MoCA, Zoar Outdoor (kayaking, canoeing, zip lines), Historic Deerfield, the Emily Dickinson Museum
A perfect retreat; the studio is private and well-stocked, with a million-dollar-view of a nearby meadow. Mary has taken great care to ensure her guests have everything they need. Highly recommended.
I highly recommend this cabin. It is clean, has huge windows that let in lots of natural light, and is surrounded by beautiful woods. Though I only spent one night here, it seems like a week here would be a re-energizing treat. Mary's sheet of directions in the cabin were thorough and clear, so I felt well taken care of and also had a nice amount of privacy.
I'm in love with this place ... it's the perfect retreat/sanctuary. We had a wonderful second visit enjoying walks on the trails adjoining the property and the place was very comfortable even with a bit of a chill in the air. See you again in the spring!
Our stay was very sweet. We had everything we needed. Mary was a great host and even offered for us to pick and keep flowers and vegetables from her garden. The cabin is close to the house, but has total privacy. It is on such beautiful land that is clearly well taken care of. We loved the gardens, architecture of the cabin, and view of the fall foliage outside the window. This place is a gem. We will definitely be back.
This was a sweet little cabin with easy access to lots of great hiking and the 5 college region. It was nice to disconnect from internet and cell phones for a week while staying at the cabin. Mary was very welcoming and she even helped me coax my dog down the loft ladder when she got scared up there! I'd definitely return if I visit the area again.
This cabin was wonderful! Mary really went above and beyond to provide a lot of really lovely touches to the cabin. I was craving quiet and solace from the city, and this was ideal. It was so quiet and beautiful! I wrote, slept, wandered the grounds, visited the artsy nearby town of Shelburne Falls, and took in the fall air. All in all, really delightful. I recommend for those looking for a quiet, scenic getaway. I can't wait to get back! Mary also takes impeccable care of her grounds and there are a lot of enchanting plants growing around the cabin.
Mary's studio is incredible. It was the perfect size for the two of us but I could see it easily accommodating four. Mary accounted for every detail – coffee machine, dishware, extra blankets for chilly evenings, books, a radio, flashlight and fleece for late night walks to the bathroom and wonderful seating areas throughout the property. The property itself is beautiful and Mary encourages you to explore. Mary was very sweet and provided great recommendations for activities and restaurants in the area. We have already recommended the studio to friends and will gladly stay here again. Thanks, Mary!
Beautiful place. We weren't there very long as we were on the road and only had one night before having to get back home. Beautiful gardens, land, and area in general. As it was late August in the country, the bugs were in full effect so bring your fly swatter and make sure to close the door each time you enter or leave. They are quite copious. Also you do have to go outside and down a (lighted) path to use the bathroom which wasn't ideal for a pregnant woman (me), and there is no guardrail in the sleeping loft (not awesome for little kids which we don't yet have), but as long as you are aware and cautious of these 3 things (bugs, bathroom, careful in sleeping loft) and you want a clean simple cabin in the woods, you'll really enjoy it!
Truly magical—breathtakingly beautiful old farm property and the cabin is private, comfortable, clean and sunny with large windows (great views). Nice location too, with easy access to nearby towns. Mary is a lovely and very considerate host, letting us use the house phone and making all of us feel welcome (even inviting one of our dogs into her house!) and providing everything we needed. So relaxing and enjoyable here … we look forward to returning.
Nice place. Nice host. Everything as advertised. I'd stay again.
