An amazing, restful, peaceful, beautiful, comfortable hideaway! Staying here reminded us of the simple basics and truly allowed for a relaxing weekend. Our host thought of everything, right down to a wonderful scent that greeted us as we walked through the door and took in the charming surroundings! Fresh coffee beans to grind in the morning, information about the area, and comfortable bedding and linens rounded out the experience. While there is so much to do and see in the Pioneer Valley, especially for nature, farm, and antique lovers, it was tough to leave the cabin and awesome grounds and gardens. This was a blissful, relaxing retreat!
Mary's cabin in Buckland, MA is a fantastic place to get away while staying close to the surrounding area: Berkshires, The Clark, Mass MOCA, hiking trails. The sensibility of design in the cabin and surrounding property are fantastic with a warmth of your own home and you feel completely set off in this little hideaway. Mary has thought ahead and taken care of everything you might need. I highly recommend it if you are looking for a place in the area and I would definitely stay here again!
Mary greeted us outside her door, even though we were several hours earlier than expected. She pointed our way to the cottage and we immediately felt at home enough to drop our bags and go walking through the trails the back woods. The informative slip of paper on the desk told us just about everything we needed to know and the rest of our visit was smooth and peaceful sailing. Though we were in Mary's backyard, we felt as if we were on our own.
This is our third (fourth?) visit and we love this incredibly special place. The unseasonably warm weather meant we were able to enjoy both the colors of fall and the luxury of sun-drenched breakfasts outside. Our two dogs enjoyed roaming and sniffing the yard and we all took walks along the quiet country road. Mary is a responsive host and made everything easy and welcoming, as always.
