Alessandra was very polite and friendly to us, and the apartment was unique and fun. We had a slight miscommunication about the meeting time, so we had to wait about an hour to be let in to the apartment. Once let in, there was no toilet paper but it was restocked the next day upon our request. The apartment however was very clean and the neighborhood felt safe to us and not too far of a walk from the tram to get to the metro station. It was also helpful that we were able to keep our belongings in the apartment until later in the day when our train came.
Pros: Our hostess met up with us and gave us a quick tour of the apartment. She was very friendly. Our family of six had plenty of space to sleep in the apartment. The apartment was located very near to a grocery store, a tram that took us into the city center in about 15-20 minutes, and several restaurants and bakeries. Cons: Upon arrival, the dishwasher was full of clean dishes and there was no clear place to put the dishes away. The washing machine had a load of clothes in it which she removed hastily and stored in a closet. Our biggest con was the refrigerator. Alessandra told us we were welcome to have anything in it, but it smelled like something was rotting in it. Every time we opened it, the entire living area smelled like a garbage can. We bought our food and used it right away in order to avoid using the refrigerator. There were no maps of the area nor were there any tourist pamphlets. Overall, this was an okay place to stay, but it could have been better prepared to receive visitors. I kind of felt like we arrived at somebody's house and they had forgotten that we were coming. The location was good and the neighborhood seemed safe.
When I got to the place, her friend Noel greeted me kindly. The place was clean and kid friendly. It was nicely located just near the tram stop (number 15) that goes to Duomo and other downtown areas (20 minutes) and the train station was only 8 minutes away that connects to the central station and the garibaldi station. (Takes maybe 20 and 30 minutes each) The beds were very comfortable (tow double beds) and the sofa was very comfortable as well (double size bed-sofa). No tub in the bathroom, but there is a washer, which is convenient. The kitchen had everything that was needed, except I had to figure out that i need to use the lighter to lit the fire on the stove top. Just make sure not to turn the sink tap water all the way, or the kitchen floor will get flooded. It only happened once to me and I addressed it to Alessandra, and she quickly advices not to turn it all the way up and it wont happen. Not much restaurants nearby, but the tram station is super close by. Also there is a Pam supermarket 5 minutes away for groceries. There are few cafes nearby that sell good coffees. The place overall was quite and clean, hardwood and the tile floor made us easy to clean the place. Definitely a super friendly host (Alessandra) easy to reach via airbnb, and a cozy, kid friendly apartment!
