The house was exactly as announced, I received a welcoming handwritten letter and a fresh towel at the first day. The mates showed me around; they are from start ups and colleges nearby. All really nice!
It's really a welcoming and fresh place. The house was just to 10 minutes walk to San José Downtown, and near the train station.
I'll keep booking with Vic, and I strongly recommend Hacker House system to everyone! :)
Vic was an awesome host, and I had a great time. He was really great about communicating all necessary details, the room and house were kept clean, and I made some great new friends! I definitely recommend the HackerHomes as a great place to stay, especially if you're new to the area.
I was only going to stay here for two weeks until I had found a place but I liked it so that I have extended my time. Vic is a such a gracious host. He made sure everything was prepped for me and sent detailed instructions before had arrived. There was even a personalized towel and notecard on my bed to welcome my arrival. To make the experience even better, everyone (thanks Sheryl and Dave--they are the permanent residents here) here made me feel welcomed and part of the family. Also, Vic hosts free events throughout the Bay Area for the HackerHome guests which is a real treat. Thank you all for helping me with my career transition from San Diego to San Jose.
I have stayed at two of Hacker Homes hosted by Vic and visited others--every one that I have visited has been wonderful. These are homes, not houses. Living here I meet people everyday who have signed up to stay at one of these homes briefly, but return time and time again. There are many enjoyable aspects of these houses; the location, the food, the price. But it is the community that people return for. I have not met a person in a Hacker Home that I have not adored. Vic and his community was the difference between my stay in San Jose being idyllic or a nightmare. I'm sure that when I leave, I too will return, time and time again.
I am grateful to have met Vic and very happy that I stayed in his home. He is a great host, he really does care about the people that comes into his home and he is willing to do whatever it take to accommodate you on your trip. Thank you agin Vic, I really enjoy getting to know you and if I am in the Bay Area I will stop in.
Thanks for the conversations and inspiring me to be a more considerate and better person.
Vic's a great host and this is perfect fit for me and all the other folks in the house that are in silicon valley trying to get stuff done.
