Escape to our cozy 1950s cabin overlooking High Lake, near Traverse City. Enjoy sunny days on the beach—kayak, canoe, fish, take a spin in the pedal boat or simply relax. Unwind in the hot tub overlooking the lake and listen for the loons. In the fall, soak in the gorgeous fall colors on the lake! Welcome to our charming little 1950s lakeside cabin, where modern comforts meet nostalgic charm. Perfect for both relaxation and adventure, our cabin is ready to host your unforgettable getaway!
Inside (600 sq ft):
Main Bedroom: Cozy queen-size bed for a restful sleep.
Second Bedroom: Twin over twin bunk bed, ideal for kids or the young at heart.
Bathroom: Accessible through the main bedroom, featuring a refreshing shower.
Kitchen: Fully equipped with microwave, refrigerator, oven/stove, cooking utensils, and dishes for all your culinary needs.
Outdoor Amenities:
Hot Tub: Unwind and gaze at the stars while you soak in the hot tub overlooking the lake.
Deck: Soak in breathtaking lake views and fresh forest air
Grill: Perfect for outdoor cooking!
Firepit: Have a cozy campfire under the stars. Roast marshmallows, tell stories and make memories!
Hammocks: Relax and unwind under the trees. Listen for the loons and maybe watch for deer.
Beach: Enjoy our pedal boat, kayaks, and canoe (free - no rental charges!) or swim in the refreshing lake! Beach access and amenities are shared with one other cabin on the property. On the map shown in the pictures, this cabin is labeled as the "blue" cabin.
Fishing: Cast a line from the dock and savor the tranquil sounds of nature.
The cabins at High Lake Retreat are classic Northern Michigan vacation cottages from the 1950's. Like most property on inland Michigan lakes, we do have nearby neighbors, but they are fantastic!
Indoor Comforts:
Electric Fireplace: Snuggle up during the fall and winter months.
Board Games: Enjoy quality family time with a variety of games.
These cabins are grandfathered under special historical zoning, which allows us to share them while preserving their original size and charm — a rare piece of Northern Michigan history that we are honored to share with those that will appreciate this little piece of Americana.
Year-Round Activities:
Summer Adventures: Fishing, kayaking, pedal boating, swimming, and relaxing on the beach! Visit for the Cherry Festival or take some day trips to surrounding destinations!
Fall: Fall colors on our lake are absolutely beautiful! Soak in the hot tub overlooking the lake while you enjoy the colors around you. When you get tired of that, take a drive up the Old Mission Peninsula to enjoy the wineries and the views!
Winter Fun: Ice fishing, snowmobiling, skiing and snow tubing at Mt. Holiday are just minutes away.
Local Attractions: Timber Ridge, VASA trailhead, snowmobile and ATV trails within 5 minutes. Snowmobile rental 2 min away at Peegeo's.
Nearby Attractions: 15 minutes to downtown Traverse City, 17 minutes to Flintfields Horse Park, 20 minutes to Great Wolf Lodge, and 30 minutes to Old Mission Peninsula Wine Trail.
Shopping & Entertainment: Explore downtown Traverse City's vintage shops, boutiques, art galleries, and eateries. Catch a show at the State Theatre.
