My comfortable and spacious town home is an ideal accommodation and in an ideal location - previous Ironman participants have enjoyed the quiet neighborhood, just two minutes from the center of town, the ocean, restaurants, and all activities. Barbeque on the gas grill and dine on the ocean view terrace. Relaxed Hawaii ambience.
It will be my honor to host you whatever your country - you won't find a better place to stay in Kona for the Ironman!

The space

This is a freestanding, spacious 1,200 sq foot / 133 sq m, Asian décor town home. Light and airy with fans, high ceilings and large windows to let in the breeze and keeps things cool. Fully-equipped kitchen with modern appliances lets you prepare meals to your liking. Pick fresh herbs and perhaps some veggies from the back garden. Enjoy relaxed dining on the ocean view terrace. Large selection of Hawaii guidebooks and books on Hawaii culture, history, botany, geology and geography. Relax in a real bathtub! Interesting and eclectic selection of fiction and non-fiction books for your reading pleasure. HD television with hundreds of channels to watch sports or your favorite programs. And...The two-car garage is the place to safely keep all your Ironman gear and bikes and fine-tune them for the big day!

Guest access

All rooms of the townhome and the garage are open to guests.

Interaction with guests

I expect to be able to meet and welcome you personally.

Other things to note

NOTE: Because of the large size and diversity of the Big Island as compared to the other Hawaiian Islands, a longer stay here is strongly recommended so you will be able to make the best of your visit here for the Ironman Championship.

This place was a good stay! Beautiful master bedroom. Pretty good location, not at all walkable to anything though, so if you're staying here make sure you have access to transportation. From what I understand there are bugs everywhere in Hawaii, I guess they're attracted to water. However, the amount of ants in the kitchen and bathroom did kind of gross me out. There weren't any traps for them either. The shower was also not the cleanest. Overall, it was a positive stay. John is great with communication.

Response from John:
Ants are everywhere in subtropical Hawaii and very difficult to get rid of - we wish we could! But even with traps, insecticides, etc. they always come back quickly so we eventually give up and just live with them...but I'll keep trying.

John's place was wonderful! The location was great, the neighbor hood was quiet and john's home was very peaceful. We slept great in the comfortable beds and enjoyed our morning coffee on the lanai overlooking beautiful scenic views. We really enjoyed meeting John. Great guy and a great place to stay. Can't wait to return for a longer visit!

John's house was beautiful, well kept and maintained in an amazing location. John arranged for his nephew to meet us when we arrived. Tony gave us the layout. It is centrally located to many places around Kona. I liked how we could view the sea and sunsets by sitting in the back porch. The neighborhood was very quiet and it was suitable for our needs. We stayed at the condo for almost a week and if we were to be back on the Big Island, I would book John's house again without a doubt! I also loved the attractive pricing that John had advertised for the condo, it is also a factor that swayed my decision to staying at John's place. Overall, an incredible experience!

John arranged for his nephew to meet us when we arrived. Tony gave us the layout. Great house! Basically centrally located to many places around Kona. John welcomed my birthday visit with a bottle of wine. His recommendations were well heeded. The atmosphere and entire experience was a wonderful value for the money spent.

It was nice when we arrived that John left us a lovely bottle of white wine chilled in the fridge. It was a very warm welcoming. The place was charming and we felt welcome and at home there.. His Nephew was also very helpful when we arrived! My Parents loved it! The view out the back was nice too! The Pines is the perfect location for visiting Kona and to feel a part of the community!
