Two rooms, each with double bed. Comfortable seating, nice dining area.
Kitchenette, separate bathroom with bath and shower.
Can comfortably host 4 people (adults, or adults + kids).

The appartment is located one mile west of the Central Station, easy to reach with public transportation (bus 48, connecting to Central Station), tramline 3 or taxi.

Have you ever dreamed about staying the night under the gabled roof of a 17th century former warehouse? Waking up and drinking your coffee having a superb view over the river IJ, watching big cruiseships passing by? Living for a few days or more in of the best preserved Golden Age neighbourhoods in Amsterdam?

Well, this is your chance! Our appartment is offering exactly all that. Climb the winding stairs and make yourself at home.Unpack, fix yourself a coffee, sit back and unwind. Admire the view outside, or the gabled roof above you. Get connected to your friends and family (free WiFi available) and share your experience. This is Amsterdam at it's very best.

Within 5 minutes walking distance you find yourself in Haarlemmerdijk, awarded in 2012 as "best shopping street". Numerous small shops of all kind and grocerystores are located there.

You will find simple food shops, a fine restaurant and bars even closer: just around the corner.

On the groundfloor is a restaurant serving traditional french bistro cuisine. Very good food and drinks, moderate prices. There is a large and sunny, yet quiet terrace where you can wine and dine, or just enjoy a beer or a softdrink. On the waterfront opposed to the restaurant you can rent an electrical boat, to explore our city by water.

Guest Access

The appartment consists of two bedrooms and a separate bathroom, connected through a hallway.

Each room has a double bed, so the appartment can comfortably host 4 adults.

The frontroom has "the view". There is a round 4 persons dining table and a comfortable reading chair. The kitchenette is situated here too.

The backroom has a sunny terrace. You'll find a desk, a reading chair and a sink.

You'll find bath and shower in the bathroom.

Interaction with Guests

We always receive guests in person, to meet and greet, to hand over the keys and to make sure that they will get around in the house and the neighbourhood. We will answer any questions concerning their stay in Amsterdam, etc. And provide you with a map with some useful tips. After that, it is up to our guests too. If you want to have more contact, fine, if not... fine too.

The Neighborhood

Our neighbourhood is Westelijke Eilanden. Just west of central station, consisting of 17th Cent. houses and building blocks surrounded by canals, hence the name, literally meaning "Western Islands". It is one of the best preserved parts of 17th Century Amsterdam, often referred to as the most beautiful village in town. It is lively during the day, quiet at night, and near the bustling city. Best of all worlds, so to speak.

Getting around

Bus 48 (1 min. walk to the stop) brings you within 5 minutes to Central Station, or Sloterdijk Station.

Tram 3 (4 min. walk) connects you straight to Museumplein, where you will find the 3 outstanding museums of our city: Rijksmuseum (classic art like Rembrandt and Vermeer), Van Gogh and Stedelijk Museum (contemporary art).

If you want to take a taxi straight from the Airport costs will be about EUR. 35 (Schipholtaxi). You will find details in the reservation / confirmationsheet that will be sent as soon as you make a reservation.

  • Great flat with two cozy beds and 15 min walk to the central station. Olav and his wife runs the restaurant below where I really recommend the lamb. Stay at Olav's if you go to Amsterdam.

  • Olav and Martine were fantastic hosts. Their apartment was perfect! Conveniently located within walking distance to the main attractions yet in a nice quiet location. They have all the comfortable amenities just like home.

I definitely recommend staying here if you're visiting Amsterdam and absolutely recommend eating at their restaurant. I ate dinner their both nights. Highly recommended.

Both Olav and Martine are extremely accommodating and helpful. I will be staying again next time I'm in Amsterdam.

  • All the previous reviews are absolutely true! Apartment is in a lovely neighborhood with canals and lots of boats. A bus stop is 2 minutes, tram stop 7 minutes by foot. Apartment has a wonderful view, it’s very cosy and was very spacious for 4 of us.
Olav is very welcoming and friendly host and the food in his restaurant is absolutely delicious. We’re happy to spend 5 days in such a nice atmosphere. Olav, thank you so much! Hope to see you again)

  • An amazing location, photos don't do it justice! Olav and Martine were really nice and very helpful nothing was a problem. Great restaurant below apartment which they own and do really good food. Also directly across the road you can hire an electric boat to explore the canals, take about 20min to walk into city and coffee shops and cafés are about 10mins straight down the road. All in all 4 of us two couples had an amazing stay, seriously the photos don't do the place justice it was awesome!

  • We had a lovely stay with Olav and Martine. The apartment was beautiful, in a convenient location with a lovely view. They left wine and snacks and they were very helpful throughout our stay. Their restaurant downstairs was fantastic place to eat and we would highly recommend it to anyone staying there. Thanks for a great holiday!

  • Olav and Martine were terrific hosts. The apartment is exactly as advertised, except even more charming than the posted pictures. It is located in a quiet and beautiful historic district of three tiny islands, with everything you need only a block or two away - restaurants, produce market, delicatessen, tram to the museums, bus to Central Station. The busy shopping area and city center are a five minute walk away, but you will be tempted to stay in the apartment, have a coffee or glass of wine, and enjoy the corner view of the canals on the tree-lined street. Plus, Olav runs an excellent French restaurant downstairs.
    Highly recommended!

  • Olav was very friendly. He was also very helpful in advising us on our stay in Amsterdam. The apartment is very nice, historic, quiet, and big. It is located at the top of a historic building, so there's actually an attic above each bedroom. The beds were big and comfortable. The kitchen was nice and functional. The restroom and shower was also quite big. I highly recommend this place to anyone visiting Amsterdam.
