Daluva Home - boutique apartment.
Daluva Home is a one-bedroom boutique fully serviced penthouse apartment. Stylishly appointed and located in the trendy and chic West Lake area of Hanoi Viet Nam.
As far as we know there is no place like Daluva Home in all of Vietnam. It is like your own private home, but with all the services you'd expect from a highly rated hotel. We are situated in the calm and walkable West Lake neighborhood, about 10 minutes by taxi from the noisy, busy, bustling Old Quarter.
Right under Daluva Home is Daluva Restaurant and Bar, one of Hanoi's most innovative restaurants with the best cocktails in Vietnam.
We have many repeat guests and referrals, especially from the people who are on business, or are in need of a relaxing stay after traveling around Asia or working in the region.
The apartment is appointed with every comfort of home: it is luxurious, but not fussy; modern but not sterile. It is an older building, as such it has some character, but this adds to its charm.
Your host: Shahar (Shay)
We supply our guests with a cell phone equipped with a local number, so we can give you assistance wherever you are in Hanoi.
Whether you need a taxi, help with translation at a local shop or any other need, we'll be there for you.
Smoking outside on the large balcony outside please.
Small pets may be OK after discussion with owner.
More than two adults might be possible with discussion.
Shahar was an exceptional host from first contact to our farewell. I wanted somewhere in West Lake, away from the hustle, bustle and horns of the old quarter and a great restaurant as a surprise for my girlfriend on valentines day. Shahar couldn't do enough to assist in the tricky business of organising a romantic meal from another continent.
Extremely swift with his responses, he was quick to offer to serve his special valentines menu by candlelight in the apartment. I thought I might be pushing it when I asked about the possibility of having some flowers prepared for our arrival......I asked for white roses at a time when the chinese new year celebrations (tet) mean any flowers are at a premium. I arrived to the most beautifully prepared bunch of 20 white roses.
Having done my research and watched some of Shahars food videos on youtube I realised this was someone with a genuine passion for food. This was confirmed instantly on meeting him. His passion is clearly contagious....the service, the attention to detail, the unique daluva cocktails and of course the food was some of the best we have experienced anywhere.
The apartment was like a home from home and just what the doctor ordered after a rather late night on our halong bay cruise. We literally didn't need to leave the apartment. To top it all off the breakfast in the morning was top notch too, I'd recommend the eggy bagel to anyone.
We wish we could have stayed here longer. The intensity of the old quarter was a bit too much when feeling fragile and just a short taxi ride away we found this a far more pleasant setting.
Needless to say my girlfriend was over the moon and we would both be happy to recommend both the apartment and the restaurant to anyone.
We felt comfortable at Daluva from the moment Shay met us at the door. The check-in process was simple and informal with Shay giving us a quick tour of the room and a hand-off of the room key. I can say that we felt at home from the beginning as the apartment has lots of space, comfortable furnishings and nice touches of decor including fresh flowers. The description provided about the apartment is accurate but is not able to reflect the true charm of the wood floors, large windows, balcony and wood-beamed ceilings that we experienced. The kitchen appointments are ordinary and we were able to cook one or two meals for ourselves. The stocked mini-bar is available as well for any cravings of drink or snacks. However, one of the highlights of the apartment is the fact that it sits above the Daluva restaurant which serves wonderful breakfast, lunch and dinner (and we took advantage of this for several of our meals). Shay has a creative and eclectic menu of different styles and tastes and we enjoyed each meal as well as the pleasant staff that was always ready to provide us with what we needed. The location of Daluva is very good; convenient to the airport, next to West Lake and only minutes from the Old Quarter. We had access to bakeries, mini-markets, coffee shops and other food choices within 50 meters of the apartment. Overall a great experience for us and we will make Daluva our home away from home for future visits, if it is available. We highly recommend staying at Daluva.
Shay's place is wonderful. We arrived very early in Hanoi and Shay kindly accommodated our very early arrival. We had a good conversation with him over a very nice breakfast at his restaurant. The food at the restaurant is really good. The apartment is clean and spacious. The staff is very helpful and accommodating. West lake is close and it is nice to bike around it in the early morning. We would love to stY at Shay's place the next time we are in Hanoi.
We stayed in Shay's terrific penthouse apartment in January 2015. He is a most knowledgeable and gregarious host, with plenty of local knowledge, especially of the food scene in Hanoi. The apartment is situated above his own restaurant, and his very pleasant staff are always on hand to help with anything. Fantastic cocktails are a great way to unwind after a busy day in the old quarter. Apartment itself is in a nice neighbourhood popular with expats and with plenty of options for eating out nearby.
Overall, my wife and I had a pleasant stay in Shay's flat. The staff was very accommodating with our late check in and even held our bags for a few hours on our last day after we checked out. Laundry service and the emergency cell phone were nice to have as well.
Breakfast was included up to a certain dollar which we enjoyed every morning - they even brought it up to the room one day. They even prepared breakfast really early in the morning the day we left for a one day ha long excursion. The food is actually really tasty!
We were however unfortunately visited by a four legged friend (presumably a rat) the last night we stayed at the apartment. We addressed this with Shay and he acknowledged the problem and confirmed the city's continued battle and he assured they are doing their best in fighting them and keeping their guests comfortable. It was tough to write this part of the review but felt that as an airbnber I needed to share.
Other than that hiccup, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend Daluva home to anyone looking for a cheaper option in the West Lake area. Staff is super friendly and speak English pretty well.
Tips: hot water is limited - couples should shower together. Small mall down two blocks can exchange money after banks close at the gourmet market on the first floor. Buy water from the small market on the same street - 2 gallons of drinking water for 20,000 dong.
Note: there is major construction going on next door so it can be quite noisy in the morning - that is if the normal Hanoi city noise doesn't wake you up before!
Wonderful place with lots of space, amazing balcony and a great location in the Tay Ho district. Highly recommend!
