San Rafael is a convenient and central Bay Area location, only a 30-minute drive to Napa, San Francisco, Berkeley/Oakland, and about 20 minutes to the beach and Muir Woods. Downtown San Rafael and the transit station are about 1 mile away, as is the freeway entrance (101 north and south). The downtown area is charming, with artist studios, shops, restaurants, and a wonderful art house cinema. Sol Food Restaurant, less than a mile away, has been written up in the New York Times (36 Hours in Marin County); it has delicious and inexpensive Puerto Rican food. We're also near Dominican College, and the Terrapin Crossroads, a great new music venue owned by Phil Lesh of the Grateful Dead.
We love hosting people and can guarantee you'll feel comfortable and well cared for. We have an elderly dachshund who mostly stays in the house and a small standard poodle who is very sweet and friendly. Looking forward to meeting you soon!
PET POLICY: SORRY, NO CATS. WE CHARGE $10.00 PER NIGHT FOR YOUR DOG; WHEN YOU MAKE THE RESERVATION, PLEASE MAKE THE RESERVATION FOR THREE PEOPLE. WE DO NOT WANT PETS TO BE LEFT UNATTENDED IN THE STUDIO. THANK YOU!
The only real rule is that smoking isn't allowed on the premises. Other than that, we would appreciate that guests be aware that we are living upstairs and to keep noise to a minimum in the evening.
We enjoyed our stay here! Such a cozy and quiet little studio in a great location. The hosts were great and they went the extra mile with a nice basket of fruit and chocolates and water in the fridge. The bed was comfortable and the towels were plush. No complaints! We would definitely stay here again!
Lovely place. Exactly as described. Just what we needed. Hosts were great! Thanks!
We had a wonderful time at Jessica and Stacey's studio! We felt very welcomed, both by their communications and also by a vase with beautiful flowers and a bowl of organic fruit. The studio is attached to their house, but it was very private and quiet.
We were happy that we had a chance to meet and talk with them.
The studio was very clean with warm and comfortable furnishings and decor. There were teas and coffee provided and we had everything we needed to cook and enjoy a peaceful evening.
We would definitely stay here again and would recommend it to friends!
Jessica and Stacey were warm and genuine hosts. The studio apartment space was well-appointed, cute, cozy, private, and comfortable! This space was everything I was looking for in a place to stay during a trip to visit friends in the San Rafael area. I would definitely stay here again!
A lovely place to stay. Very clean, quaint, comfortable and contemporary. WiFi was flawless. Great kitchen with a refrigerator large enough to store plenty. Kitchen was fully equipped for any type of cooking. Large walk in closet with full-size mirror on the back of the door. Lots of dresser/drawer space. Bathroom was clean and very pretty. Full-size tub. Very comfortable bed. Perfect for two people who want to relax. Nice and quiet and only 10 minutes away from the town center which has every store you can think of -- Whole Foods, CVS, Walgreens, Trader Joe's and lots of little places to eat. We stayed just shy of two weeks. Jessica and Stacey were very nice and helpful. And they have a sweet, friendly dog named Julien who is a prancing sweetheart. Highly recommend, and would definitely stay again if ever in the area.
Jessica and Stacey have created a lovely and quiet retreat in the hills of San Rafael. The studio is generous in size with a full bathroom, kitchenette and walk-in closet. Plenty of space for us and our dog. Location is great with Hwy 101 nearby and downtown San Rafael just a few blocks away (plenty of food, shops). Jessica was a great host, totally available to answer any questions (in person or by text). We found yogurts, fruit, milk for coffee, and a few other cupboard items to make the morning easy. The kitchen is fully equipped with cups, glasses, flatware, pots/pans...whatever you'd need.
We loved walking the dog around the neighborhood and up to the top of the hill. Mornings were lovely, surrounded by trees and the sun coming through the window over the bed. A very pleasant way to wake up. Be aware that the studio is under the home where the hosts live so you can hear footsteps and other normal noise, including their sweet poodle howling a bit when left alone. Not loud at all, just normal sounds of life.
My husband and I spent three nights at this nice, quiet retreat. It was a welcome respite from a traditional hotel. The room was spacious with a cute little kitchen area and a comfortable bed. Despite being such a short distance from central San Rafael, it felt very private and quiet.
We arrived somewhat late in the evening, but Jessica was there to meet us and orient us to the room. After that, we were left alone. All in all, a very pleasant experience.
