The Space

I've been heavily involved in (website hidden) for years with a great reputation. Now I'm glad to offer my space to AIRB&B.

My workshop at any given time has different artists, musicians, actors coming in and out to work on projects. There are 3 private spaces AND they're ALL very well kept, cozy and charming. NOTE- we will offer you what room is available on the day of your arrival, AND we'll certainly give you your choice of rooms if possible. ( either way everyone LOVES whatever room they are put in so you won't be disappointed.)

This unforgettable workshop is on the main drag of old downtown. It's 2 doors down from Niagaras oldest vintage diner and minutes away from Niagara Falls. Theres usually the smell of baked goods in the morning because of the bakery 2 doors down in the other direction. Theres a bus stop across the street, lots of bars, coffee shops, and whatever else you need along the street, and of course when in question, I'll point you in the right direction to whatever you need.

The amenities include: Your own key, Air conditioning/ heating, filtered air, High speed WiFi (with laptop if you need/ speaker system), 1 long couch, 1 pull out double bed + bedding (other bed situations available), towels&toiletries, private washroom, shared shower and kitchen, Lots of tea, cereal etc, free parking spaces, Lots of musical instruments & art supplies (for those creative types), AND a playful kitten for all your kitten needs.

Come and go as you please- Unlike other places, you'll be left to your're own seclusion UNLESS you decide to be social ( sometimes I don't like to be bothered on vacation either). . . . . and PLEASE remember this isn't a 5 star hotel, it's a clean, humble, yet large, unorthodox artists workshop.

AND HEY: You can view a TV show that spotlighted my workshop, but don't let this presentation fool you, you'll probably not see me at all during your stay. Visit YOUTUBE, and search VERONICA GOES COUCH SURF-

  • Adam and Katie were both very friendly and welcoming in the short time that we met them.

Their place was incredible - especially the basement room that we stayed in. Comfy bed, nice towels and more toiletries than you could ever need on offer.

Super glad that we stayed downtown with Adam and Katie rather than in tourist central. Loved Paris Crepes Cafe (as per all the other reviewers). And the walk to the Falls was easily doable.

  • Had a great experience with Adam, the workshop is amazing and we all had a very restful night!
Adam is very welcoming and helpful :)

A perfect place minutes from the Falls!

  • Adam, Katie and chicken where welcoming and helpful hosts. We had a great visit in this truly unique space. Easy 5 min walk from train/bus station, a longer but pretty walk to the falls. Would happily stay again.

  • Adam was very helpful in directing us towards great, local experiences.

The place was very eclectic, with much to look at. We had privacy and much space in the basement, and the opportunity to release some musical talents with the drum set and piano.

There is a cat, Chicken, who is very friendly on the premises. Areas of the house did smell like a cat. And the kitchen needed some cleaning. We did not feel comfortable putting our food in the frig because of it. Also, there was only a way to secure our room from the inside, not the outside, when we left for the day.

Overall, it was safe and interesting.

    Thanks, Adam!

  • We stayed in the studio in the basement. The place was neat and tastefully decorated. Carpark is right behind the house and is free - so that was good too. They are flexible with timing as we left at 530am and just left the key in dining room. They also recommended us a nice eatery a few blocks away which had good food at reasonable price.
    Some personal caveats though:
We arrived on Saturday evening and area around (i.e. Queen St) was closed on weekends (almost a ghost townish appearance). We didnt know that it was biz district and would be desolate. This also prevented us from taking a late night walk to the Falls.
If you prefer being near the "touristy" areas then its a bit of walk (20mins+) but if you prefer quiet neighborhood, then its suitable.
You got to be a bit more flexible to stay in the place - sleeping with computer setup near headside and a band set up near the foot while having a glass recording booth left to bed and a giant face painting on right of bed was a bit unnerving as if someone was watching over. It is a DIY place and not a hotel - so have expectations of creativity and DIYness - like the room door and washroom door are partially open and there isnt hot water in washbasin. We also read on the board near the bathroom that hot water for shower is only from 1-2pm and werent sure if that was already mentioned in the AirBnB listing and we missed reading about it.
Overall the place is great with dollops of creativity around, but I am more of a balcony and window with sunlight preferring person so couldnt really relish the place.

    Response from Adam:

We loved having Mingxuan. Just to correct a few misunderstandings about his review. We do have VERY hot water 24hrs a day in the shower, and although the downtown area is sometimes very quiet, there are 6 bars/ restaurants open every night and taking a walk to the falls is never a problem because it's a VERY safe area with the cities police station only two blocks away. Peace and good luck to you Mingxuan. :)

  • Easily a 5 star rating!

Very cool place! I got to check out the "Cozy Artists' Workshop" while I was there but wound up staying in the Recording Studio in the basement which was extremely cool.

If you're thinking about staying in the "Cozy Artists' Workshop", you're going to like it, but you should definitely also check out the listing here for the recording studio. It's worth it!

This is right on Queen Street which has a really good crepe place probably no more than 100 steps to left out the front door. Try their dessert crepe called "The Niagara Falls" and you may never leave.

If you like walks, you will enjoy the walk to the falls from here.

Loved our time here! Thanks, Adam!

    PARKING:
We struggled to find the parking at first. Here is a link to a Bing Maps pushpin I placed with some pretty good directions directly to the driveway. (website hidden)(phone number hidden)B832BA!155

Most of the time, we found ourselves arriving from Victoria Ave. from the falls.

We turned slight right off Victoria Ave onto Valley Way and immediately turned right onto Huron St.

Drove until we passed Crysler Ave and the parking was an immediate left into an alley next to a house just before a parking lot. It is separated from the parking lot by a guardrail. The parking is at the end of the alley.

Here is the street view of the alley (on the left of the guardrail) (website hidden)(phone number hidden)a,75y,0.09h,82.05t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1slQu_wjPr12yYvf5HetfQYw!2e0!6m1!1e1

  • Adam was very welcoming, responsive, and helpful! The room and space itself was definitely unique! Location was great. There's a big DIY feel to the place, and sound travels easily. The decor is not to be missed. Overall a cool memory from our stay! Thanks Adam!

  • I had a fantastic, peaceful stay in Niagara in the artist's workshop. Was great to decompress, wander the falls, stop in a coffeeshop or two to read, write, whatever while I was there. Adam was very helpful and accommodating. The most difficult part of the trip was explaining Airbnb to a Canadian customs agent.

About
I'm originally from Chippawa/ Niagara falls and I love being creative in many mediums. I run my own mural company BRAINKITE CO. . . .I am a producer and inhouse actor for 2 film companies out of Toronto and New York. I'm extremely loyal to these directors since they're my friends and since we've been put through the ringer together. I also do a singer/songwriter stage performance under the name of THUNDERCLAP! . . What I do may seem like much and it is, when I'm able to kickback, I love to go dancing, have some drinks, see beautiful things, to be surprized, to sneeze, to laugh, and to be good.
