Casa Tranquilo- is a beautiful custom built wood home that is situated in the quiet and safe neighborhood of Bordon, just a 5 minute drive to the must see Cahuita National Park. It features 3 bedrooms, 2.5 bath perfect for getting away from it all!
This is a beautiful, hand crafted house, that impresses on every level. My wife's father Abdiel a long time local of Cahuita built this amazing house and lives just down the road. Our community of Bordon, while not located "right on the beach" is a safe haven for many foreigners that have decided to live their Costa Rican dream. We are about 5-7 minute drive from the beautiful beaches of Cahuita including the must see Cahuita National Park.
When you are here at home you will feel right at home in this fully furnished home that features 3 bedrooms (two downstairs and a large room on the 3rd floor) with 2 full bathrooms upstairs and a half bath downstairs on the main floor. On the second floor is the master bedroom that features raised ceilings, A/C, a large bathroom with hot water shower, a large closet space and it's own private balcony, with benches and a hammock. The second bedroom also features A/C and is located next to the 2nd bathroom with hot water shower. On the same level is a large beautiful living room with vaulted ceilings, a ceiling fan and a custom bar area. Up a unique flight of stairs is a large third bedroom, that both our boys sleep in and there is even a large toy room for storage. Down on the first level is a large living area and dining room with the kitchen all with an open floor plan. Here on this level you will also find the pantry and laundry area.
You are renting the entire house, the only thing you will not have access to is two storage areas that have some of our personal things in them.
Interaction with Guests
We are currently living in the States right now but my wife's family lives down the street and her aunt next door. They will be the ones showing the house and helping you with anything needed there. You can always contact us via email or phone and we will make whatever arrangements are needed to get things done for you as needed.
Bordon, is an awesome community that very few know about. It is safe and friendly. Many foreigners have moved here and built beautiful homes here. We are close to the beach (The National Park is just a 5 min. drive).
To stay here it is recommended that you have a car but there is access to the bus. We are located about 700 mts from the route 36 where you can catch the bus to Cahuita and surrounding areas... We have room at the house for several cars to park and have a electric gate for secure parking
Other Things to Note
My in-laws phone # is (phone number hidden) (Abdiel and Nora), They are the ones that will show you the house and give you the keys. Nora speaks pretty good English.
You are renting our house, with our furnishings... We are more than happy to have you as guest come and enjoy the beauty of Costa Rica and our home we just ask that you respect our home.. Thanks!
The property is comfortable and relaxing. It is nice to have a full kitchen and plenty of room for everyone to move around. The WiFi information was available for use, but it was harder to connect with multiple users.
We had a hard time finding the house due to our phones not working to look up the GPS coordinate that was provided. We did not buy a "chip" at the airport which would have made it a bit easier, but Karlina's cousin was home and was very helpful to direct us to the property.
We met Karlina's father, who is an extremely nice man and showed us the property. It is absolutely amazing Karlina's built the house and the details of wood working is incredible.
The property only has cold water. It was shocking for the first shower, but after that everyone was used to it and we didn't mind.
All in all everyone had a great experience and we would recommend booking the property.
Michelle, I'm so sorry to hear that your hot water wasn't working... We were not aware that it wasn't working for you. I know my in-laws had to go out of town for a couple of days after you checked in but we could have sent someone to fix that. If there are ever any problems or issues please e-mail me and we will do all we can to resolve any issues that come up. Thanks again for your stay with us and we hope you will come back!

Karina's mom (who is the one that manages the house while we where there) is an awesome lady, she made us feel so welcome and help us a lot with directions and advices for going around in Cahuita.
The house is beautiful, really comfortable and everything was carefully arrange for us to spend a great weekend.
The only things that were kind of a bump: there was no internet at all and Karina's mom didn't knew much about it so she couldn't help us. We couldn't find the remotes for turning on the A/C around the house, but at the end the weather was pretty good, so we didn't need it.
The reservation was canceled 106 days before arrival. This is an automated posting.
Staying at this place is really amassing. We loved tis beautiful place in the middle of the jungle. With all the animals around, the continuous jungle sound and the beautiful wooden house makes this a really relaxing place to be.
Karlinas parents welcomed us friendliy. Her father gave us a ride, a lot of recombination and and a spontaneous tour through the jungle. When you bring a hammock with you will this a place to never forget.
Casa Tranquila is a beautiful home located about 15 minutes north of Cahuita. We were greeted by Nora and Abdiel, Karlina'a parents who live just down the street and are so sweet, and instantly made to feel as welcome as possible. Getting to Cahuita and Puerto Viejo by bus from the house is a breeze, and in a pinch a taxi from Cahuita will run you about $6-$10 while a taxi from Puerto ran us about $18. At the end of the street there's a corner market where we picked up any essentials we forgot at the grocery store, and a bar with cold beer and a massive dance floor we got all to ourselves. If the produce truck drives by flag them down. We picked up a pineapple, a watermelon, two onions, a tomato and a bushel of cilantro for under $5, no joke, It was the dry season so the water went our for a bit, but Nora and Abdiel brought us some when we called. The internet went out for a bit, but there's so much more to enjoy out there. This was a top, top experience and everyone in our group absolutely loved it.
This was such an amazing experience! This home was hand built by Karlina's father, Adiel. The craftsmanship and overall vibe of this place is stellar. From sunshine to rainstorms the beauty of this home and property constantly amazed me. Adiel picked us fresh dragon fruit, and plantains from the yard. The house is secure, free of bugs, but also open air and very spacious. It is just a 10 minute drive to the beautiful Cahuita National Park (must see!) and about 20 minutes from the super laid back and picturesque town of Puerto Viejo. I felt like I was staying with my family at Casa Tranquilo and would 100% recommend to anyone. Thanks again!!

We are like the Ricardo Arjona song; "El yankee se enamoro de un Tica"... My wife grew up in Cahuita and I met her here on a surf trip to Cahuita 17 years ago. Our dream was to live here always but for 13 years we lived in my home town of Carlsbad, CA where we had two beautiful boys. Fortunately a little over two years ago we moved back to this beautiful place and can give personal attention to our apartments and guests. We are sure you will love your stay here...
