Esperanza's apartment in NYC is super comfortable and very clean! It has its own private entrance from the street which is truly a bonus in Manhattan. It's on a peaceful and quiet street though so that was great. It is conveniently located near Columbia, and close to many cafes and a variety of restaurants. It's also close to two subway stops so it was easy to get around. I'll definitely stay there again when I come to NYC.
Esperanza place is nice and clean in a very cool part of south Harlem. Easy access to Manhattan, and close to central parc. She was very helpful before arriving since the departure.
Although we never met her, Esperanza was a great host! Extremely responsive by email, she provided us with a wealth of information about the apartment and the neighborhood itself. The place was very clean - something that's extremely important to us - and it had everything one would possibly need for a short stay (a couple of small appliances would be a bonus, i.e. iron and hair dryer, but I see on the profile those are to be added later this month). The location is excellent, area very safe and close to excellent restaurants. The fact that the apartment is a pied a terre is a small minus when it's super cold as it was when we were in NYC. That being said, there were two electric radiators to supplement the existing heating, so we remained comfortable. This was a very thoughtful gesture considering subzero temperatures. Extra points: recycling is encouraged and most cleaning supplies and soaps are environmentally friendly. It's a nice detail if you care about those kinds of things, as we do.
Oh yes - a note re neighbors: when they are playing loud music, you can hear it BUT they never did it for too long or at odd hours. So, if you hear the music when you first arrive, you shouldn't get too worried, it shouldn't be a problem. Our baby daughter's naps/sleep were never interrupted.
All in all, a very positive experience. I would highly recommend staying at Esperanza's!
Thanks so much for staying with us! We are so happy to hear that you had enjoyed your stay with your baby and husband. Thank you for your suggestions! Indeed, we will have them in the apartment within the few weeks. We hope you stay with us again in your next stay - we are happy to give you a discount. Thank you for noticing that we are eco-concious. For your stay, ee will be planting two trees in Barili, Philippines on your behalf. : )
Esperanza was very responsive by email and the flat was clean and very well located. We found a parking right in front of the door where we left the car parked for our 2 nights. Jorge, was waiting for us at the door when we arrived and showed us everything we needed to know in no time. Great experience, definitely will be back if I pop in New York again in the future!!
Had a great (but all too brief) stay in Esperanza's apartment!
Unfortunately I didn't get to meet Esperanza in person, but she arranged for Jorge to meet me and handle the check-in. His eager assistance and pleasant manner were wonderful in helping me get settled. It is a charming NYC apartment without the typical "feel" of a NYC apartment because it opens up directly to the street, rather than going through the main building entrance and walking through the lobby, past mailboxes, stairs, hallways, etc. as you would to get to most apartments. This affords maximum privacy and ease (but allows for some street noise).
The apartment was extremely clean and inviting, and I was very pleased with the level of attention to detail on behalf of guests (especially the luxurious linens and towels, and the most comfortable memory foam mattress I've slept on in ages!). The spotless, newly renovated, fully equipped eat-in kitchen adds to the positive experience. It's clear that Esperanza is very concerned with her guests' well being.
The Morningside Heights/Columbia neighborhood is one of my favorites in Manhattan, with new restaurants and cafes continuing to open and delight patrons with their hometown-neighborhood feel. As a visitor, everything you need is within a short walking distance, with excellent transportation if you're venturing farther afield. It's also a very safe area.
All in all, this was exactly the kind of accommodation that I was seeking, and I wouldn't hesitate to stay with Esperanza again in the future. I'm looking forward to my next stay in Esperanza's apartment and enjoying more of her gracious hospitality!
Esperanza's studio apartment is clean, light and quite spacious by NYC standards. It has a full eat-in kitchen. Esperanza was extremely responsive to my email inquiries. I felt very safe as there were always people (mostly Columbia Univ students) on the streets in Morningside Heights. It is a short walk to the 116th St subway (#1) train-which runs often. I had breakfast every day at Kitchenette Uptown-delicious food and friendly wait staff. Appletree Market is a full service grocery close by. This is great value for NYC!
Esperanza was extremely helpful and flexible, I got all the information I needed.
The Apartment is located in a safe and clean neighborhood only a five Minute walk away from Columbia University. Would recommend it!
