Description

The space

This stunning home is a locally envied gem in Boulder. Perched high on stunning Mount Sanitas and built in to the cliff with a rock outcrop flowing through, it has the look of an architect’s award-winning mountain home.

With the privacy of your very own 1000 square feet of deck, you’ll get to enjoy views of the stunning sunshine canyon, red rocks and the surrounding mountains. The sunset views are incredible. It’s not uncommon to see rainbows stretching across the valley, or wild deer grazing in the garden.

Inside you’ll find a huge kitchen equipped with everything you’ll need, including some of the best fresh coffee you could ask for. Coupled with a large BBQ on the main deck, this means you’ll want to spend many evenings just relaxing at the house. There are two additional living rooms and a large space perfect for doing yoga, reading, or finishing a couple of hours work. Naturally the house comes with free wireless internet access in the main living spaces.

On the far side of the house you’ll find three large double bedrooms, one with a master king size bed and two with comfortable queen beds. The fourth bedroom is accessed via a separate entrance and has its own full bathroom. A day bed in the second living room opens up to two soft single mattresses to sleep another two people in comfort. Fresh laundered bed linen from Anthropologie, hotel style clean towels for all guests and plenty of soft blankets mean you’ll feel incredibly at home.

Perfectly secluded for absorbing the beautiful scenery around you, this home is still just a 6 minute drive from downtown Boulder. A wonderful trail winds its way down the canyon from the house so it’s just 35 minutes to hike or a 11 minute bike ride to downtown.

Spend time enjoying the beautiful countryside, hiking trails, swimming in natural pools, the many wonderful restaurants and coffee shops in Boulder. Then as happy hour approaches, return for a decadent night in the most stunning of mountain homes. Perfect for secluded retreats, hosting wonderful dinners, family celebrations or even working-away groups.

Having spent 3 years traveling in 75 countries I know what’s important to Airbnb guests and I’m excited to welcome you to Boulder and Sunshine Canyon!

Please note: due to the cliff location, access to the house is via stairs though the gardens and may not be suitable for wheelchair access or those with difficulty walking. Winter bookings should ensure they have vehicles that can drive through snowy conditions in Colorado.

Guest access

Guests will have access to the entire house including bedrooms, kitchen, decks and living room.

Parking spots are limited to six cars, and since the location is on a cliff this is an actual, strict limit.

Interaction with guests

I'm available to offer recommendations, troubleshoot if any problems arise, or assist in any emergency scenario (knock on wood).

The neighborhood

I love how close to Boulder the house is but how secluded it is. Perfectly perched on the ridge it is the best of mountains and city.

Getting around

You will need a car or love hiking 30 minutes to get to downtown. By car, it is a six minute drive to the Pearl Street Mall.

Other things to note

Every booking includes one free in-home massage! Let me know if you'd like to use this perk and we'll set up a time with a local massage therapist.

We arrived late at night and driving on the dirt and bumpy private road was challenging, but Blair was very responsive and helped us with finding parking in a rainy cold night. Great stay overall!

Thank you for opening your great home to us Andrew. Nestled in the mountains and built around a giant rock, we felt as if we were miles away from civilization, although only 5 minutes from downtown Boulder. My family and I loved jumping on the hiking trail at the end of the private road and disappearing for hours. The view from your house is spectacular and we all remarked how great the living space is. Thank you and we hope to be back soon.

This place is perfect if you want to feel like getting away from a city. I traveled with a couple friends. The place has amazing views but still not far from town. Awesome hiking trails not far from the house. The house was clean and well stocked with all types of necessary items.

HI Andrew, thanks for letting us stay. We loved it overall. That's why we rated it 5 stars overall. However, we do have some suggestions for improvement. Some highlights were: The sound system was awesome and added a great benefit. So was the fireplace. The east and south facing orientation were quite lovely. We really enjoyed the kitchen and spent a lot of our time there. The decks are really cool! The communication of the owners is upbeat, positive and really great. This alone made up for the cons we describe below. There is a giant boulder in the middle of the home which is very cool!! Some areas of improvement: We do think it's too much money. It's up on a dirt road in Sunshine Canyon and some of the other houses surrounding the property are pretty icky and don't give off a good vibe. We also don't think the location is fabulous. Being surrounded by trees and being able to see the city is spectacular but you can hear road noise and the road to get there is not pleasant. We've been out of our house for several week and have had to move around. In doing so, we've found places that are more affordable, much larger and in better locations for the same price or less so just bare that in mind. We would like to see some deeper cleaning happen inside and outside, particularly outside where all of the rakes and debris are kept on the east side of the house near where you sit to relax on the decks. Also, this property has lots and lots of steps, you step up to go to the front door and back down to go to the kitchen and back up to go to a sitting room and back down to go to the bedrooms. It's so charming but not for those with knee problems. In summary, if they address the cleanliness and pricing issues, I would stay here every time!! It has a lovely feeling and the owners/manager of the property are delightful to deal with. Enjoy Boulder!! It's a magical town.

Great location, views, and space. Just far enough away to feel like you have your own space, but still easy to get to the city. The views from the house really are spectacular. There's plenty of room for people to spread out, and a large kitchen and dining table for cooking together. You can hike out straight from the house to some really great hikes over looking Boulder. We were thankful to have AWD to get up the last bit of the road since it had snowed a little recently. But it's still easy to get to town if you don't want to drive - we hiked down to the main road and called an uber from there.

Hello travelers! I love hosting and welcoming people the city I love!

I'm lucky enough to have traveled a lot in my life. I've been to all 50 states and 75 countries including: Argentina, Aruba, Australia, Brazil, Canada, Chile, China, Colombia, Costa Rica, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Jordan, Latvia, Lebanon, Nepal, Netherlands, New Zealand, Panama, Qatar, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Taiwan, Thailand, Turkey, UAE, and the UK. My favorite three would have to be Australia, Lebanon and Colombia (although I have had great experiences everywhere).
