The Space

"NEW LISTING" available July 1, 2013

Update: My current guest had to cancel and fly back to Germany for a family emergency. So I am giving a special rate of $200 / night from March 17 - April 18, 2014.

Fish & sea come to greet you "Aloha" in the morning as you wake up to a glassy blue green pristine bay.Located on the best part of Kaneohe Bay you will hear the waves lullabye you to sleep.

You see Chinaman's Hat Island and feel the romance of a new paradise found. The horizon glistens in the distance beckoning you to gaze as it connects the sea with the light blue sky.

Newly installed white vinyl glass doors open up the entire living area to the ocean and mountains.

High ceilings with spacious great room for media / dining.

King bed in master room overlooks the ocean. Queen bed in guest room overlooks the palm tree garden. Please note that 2 guests requiring separate bedrooms will have a $25 / night additional fee.

Well equipped kitchen with plenty of counter space for a grand buffet.

Perfect place for a wedding.
Please note that there is an event fee charged for gatherings of 10 or more.

Secured covered parking for 2 automobiles. Near bus stops if you prefer.

Designer bath rooms (2) include walk in shower (no lip) on black stone. Very unusual artistic sinks, and bidet heater toilet seats.

Located 20 minutes from Honolulu, 20 minutes from Kailua, quiet, serene and the best kept secret on Oahu.
The oceanfront is not a sandy beach. However the best beaches are 15 - 25 minutes away.

The last 3 guests commented "The pictures do not do this place justice" (because panoramic pictures does not fit the Airbnb picture format you only get a tunnel vision of how breathtaking this oceanfront property really is) Over 180 degrees of oceanfront/horizon/mountain views!!!

Please note this is a single family residence not a condominium. The kitchen area alone might be as large as some studio condos.

FYI: Our neighbor's home just sold for $3 Million... very upscale neighborhood

Not recommended for young children who cannot swim as there are no railing for parts of the dock.
EARLY CHECK IN: is not available if a guest is checking out on the day of your arrival. Early check in fee is $50.
LATE CHECK OUT: is only available if a guest is not checking in on the day of your departure. Late check out fee is $50

FINAL THOUGHT: I am an artist and arranged the house accordingly... don't be surprised to see some very interesting "One of a kind art too!"

Aloha & Mahalo for reading.

The Neighborhood

Kāneʻohe is a census-designated place (CDP) included in the City and County of Honolulu and located in Hawaiʻi state District of Koʻolaupoko on the island of Oʻahu. In the Hawaiian language, kāne ʻohe means "bamboo man". According to an ancient Hawaiian story a local woman compared her husband's cruelty to the sharp edge of cutting bamboo; thus the place was named Kāneʻohe or "Bamboo man". The population was 34,597 at the 2010 census.[1] Kāneʻohe is the largest of several communities along Kāneʻohe Bay and one of the two largest residential communities on the windward side of Oʻahu (the other is Kailua). The commercial center of the town is spread mostly along Kamehameha Highway.

Getting around

THE BUS is the best way to get around. However if you more adventurous & want to see more during the time here a rental car is recommended.

  • I reserved Kurt's Dreamhouse for my parents who had never been to Hawaii. Kurt was gracious enough to meet my parents at the airport's car rental and show them the way to the dream house since my parents arrived at night and were likely going to get lost. They found Kurt to be very accommodating and nice. Since they arrived at night, they weren't able to see much of nature. But when they woke up the next morning, they were blown away by the breathtaking view surrounding the house. After driving around the entire island for a week exploring every coast, they came to a conclusion that the location of Kurt's dream house was by far the most beautiful part of all of Oahu and that if they ever went back to Hawaii, they would not want to stay anywhere else. They felt as if they were in paradise. They had a fabulous time. The house comfortably hosts 4 guests. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots and pans and utensils and dinnerware. They also appreciated the proximity of a big grocery store in the area. After hearing all about their adventures and experiences in Hawaii, I can't wait to stay at Kurt's house myself.

  • My family and I stayed in Kurt's beautiful oceanfront paradise from June 11th thru the 17th. The pictures do not do the place justice. The drive to Kurt's place alone is beautiful. When we arrived we were greeted by the sound of music. As I approached the front door I realized it was Kurt playing the piano and singing along. I stopped before knocking to listen and was very impressed. Kurt is very talented. Once inside Kurt showed us around the place and explained how to turn on on the lights and where everything was. At night the house lights up beautifully. Went great with a glass of wine out on the ocean front lanai. The home was very clean and comfortable. We fished off the dock and had a lot of fun doing so. I also enjoyed watching the local fisherman spear fishing in the shallow waters nearby. The house is equipped with everything you could need to serve a feast in the kitchen. There are also beach chair snorkeling gear and now three fishing poles amongst many other items left behind by other guest available for your use! Overall we had an amazing experience and will be back again. Thanks to Kurt sharing his amazing property with us. Truly a home away from home!

  • Away from the hustle of Honolulu and its traffic, Kurt's in Kaneohe is our favorite. Kaneohe is a short drive from Honolulu and Pearl Harbor but feels worlds apart. A quaint town with all the conveniences and a perfect location for a vacation rental. It felt like a central location for excursions around the island. The locals are extremely friendly and welcoming. We never felt like tourists!
We loved Kurt's family home with many momentos from years gone by. Oil paintings of his patents welcome you at the front door. A very sweet spirit in this home. The home was built in the 60's and has alot of character. In my opinion, the photos make the living and kitchen larger than they are but when I took photos they came out the same way! Glass walls open up to the expansive back yard and dock. This area is the highlight of the home. Beautiful outdoor lighting at night. Gentle lapping at the waters edge is soothing! The master bedroom opens to the backyard for great viewing of the bay. The neighborhood is very quiet, no run down homes or cluttered yards. It is not a real high end looking neighborhood although the prices of homes are!!! It is not run down or tacky by far! One neighbor talked with us and gave me a state book on fishing the area.
I would have been more comfortable with a stay for two, but we had four adults with ample room. A door closes to the entry of the master bed and bath. You have a bit of a split wing feeling, thus creating more privacy if you want it. At times, the house stayed pretty warm but we waited and it changed to great breezes in an hour or so. I would recommend this home to family/friends.

  • Kurt's place was perfect for our honeymoon. While there, it was also a convenient place to visit our son who is stationed at Hickam AFB. The outdoor living spaces had the perfect microenvironment for every time of the day and every kind of weather. The lanai was perfect for eating meals, The patio was perfect for catching some sun. The covered area with sectional was perfect for relaxing or retreating from wind or rain. We were in our own private paradise. The only problem is we never wanted to leave the house to endure the hustle and bustle of the rest of the island. I would definitely stay at Kurt's again if returning to Oahu. I would book 2 weeks at least and stock up at Safeway then venture out to explore the more country less touristy northeast corner of the island. I would explore Chinaman's hat, rent a paddle board or kayak, bring fins for snorkeling off Kurt's dock. . Would eat at Dean's Drive In , Waiahole Poi Factory and Mike's Huli Huli Chicken again. Kailua and North shore were nice but the best times were just relaxing at Kurt's Oceanfront paradise. Not a pretentious place, just simply a gorgeous place to hang out.

  • We stayed in Kurt's house for 1 week in April '14 with 4 adults. Had a pleasant stay in the house, the location is truely magnificent! Kurt and Irene responded very quickly and adequalty to some minor issues we faced in the house. They are very nice hosts and did their very best to make our stay as enjoyable as possible.

  • Fantastic place to spend a week. It looks exactly like the pictures. There was a dock with fish off of it my daughter loved feeding, and we did a little snorkeling at the reef right off the dock. Great location only 5-10 minutes from town, but on a small side road with basically no traffic. Huge open living room with plenty of space to hang out, play cards, etc. I'd absolutely come back to this place if I'm ever back in the area.

  • Loved, Loved, Loved this place!!!! The house was very nice, not that we were in it much. We spent all of our time on the deck enjoying the weather and the water. Kurt & Irene met us at the house and made sure everything was in order and gave us a tour to make sure we knew where everything was and how to operate it.

There were plenty of towels and wash cloths for the entire week. The washer and dryer was definitely an added benefit as well. There were also plenty of condiments left by previous renters, as well as packaged food items that were available to use (it's on a if you buy and don't use it feel free to leave it for the next people system which is wonderful).

It's on a quieter side of the island and in a residential area. It was extremely quiet (except for the chickens) and relaxing. I did not want to leave!

I would definitely rent from Kurt again. Mahalo for helping to make my first trip to the Islands a good one!!!

  • This is the second house that I rented with Kurt (back to back) and once again, Kurt was more than the superhost designation given to him correctly by the members of this community. He is absolutely on top of every communication and attentive to every request whether it is about the house or the island that he so clearly loves. I would have no hesitation to rent from him again, because everything is as he promises, and if there is an question or issue, it is addressed and remedied in the best way possible. You can count on him in word and in person to help you make the most of your precious vacation time-or to be a good landlord for any longer term rentals. I would also have no qualms about renting anything to him, as he understands the importance of respecting other people's properties. Irene is also a dream to work with and I now count them as friends and look forward to returning and to deal with him and his properties any time! Mahalo.

  • This house was amazing!!!! The views to accompany breakfast 1st thing in the morning was awesome. The entire house opened up so you could enjoy the breeze and fresh air. This house isn't for small children. However when they came over to celebrate Christmas it was perfect. kids went around the corner to the sandbar to try paddle boards and there was more then enough room for the feast at the end of the day. This house really made it easy to host events for my family get togethers. Location is perfect, so close to town however far enough away and off the main road so you don't hear the traffic (just a few chickens). This really made my Hawaiian vacation a trip to remember and repeat.
