HasanCave: Private cave apartments in Göreme

Elif Cave Flat

(See our other listing under Self-Catering Flats in Goreme2)

Get down underground in your very own one-bedroom cave apartment in the centre of Göreme, the coolest cave village in Cappadocia! We have two private apartments under our house, Elif Cave Flat and Sema Cave Flat (see separate listing) which can be rented on their own or together for larger groups. Elif cave sleeps up to four people with one double bedroom and two single sedirs (traditional Turkish sofabeds).

Each apartment has a fully equipped kitchenette and stone tiled bathroom. Guests have access to the house garden and terraces with a view over the weird and wonderful local rock formations. The kitchenette and fridge allow you to prepare your own meals with food from the local shops and markets, great for families, people with dietary restrictions and people who love to cook. Join us for woodcarving demonstrations in Hasan's cave workshop, music nights in our family-run restaurant in town, or just relaxing in the garden. There is no TV in the flat, just the sound of noisy sparrows.

Göreme is an amazing town with lots to see and do. From your cave apartment you can walk 5 minutes to the centre of town with its lively restaurants, cafes and bars, or walk a bit further to the Göreme Open-Air Museum, a World Heritage Site full of Byzantine churches. Explore the gorgeous valleys of Cappadocia just around the corner, full of wildlife, archaeology and wide-open spaces, by foot, bike, horse, or balloon! Or shop for souvenirs, see a Sema ceremony of whirling dervishes, unwind in the local Turkish bath, then relax with a tea or glass of local wine. A short bus ride away are other cave towns to explore, markets, ceramics, and valleys to walk in.

We are not a hotel or pension, but we can help with information and booking activities, like balloon flights and tours. Breakfast is not included. The easiest way to reach us is by shuttle from Nevsehir or Kayseri airport- we can book one to pick you up and bring you straight to our place. There is street parking for those who arrive by car. For FPS our postcode is 50180 Goreme.

We welcome families and guests with young children can use our travel cot, car seat and extra baby blankets.

Cappadocia is also beautiful during the winter months, when snow covers the rock formations and life is quiet. Our caves are centrally heated.

Please note that if you're planning to visit Turkey, you will need to apply online for an e-visa from the Turkish government website.

Great place for the authentic 'cave' experience. Good facilities and Hasan and his family are very friendly and helpful. One thing to remember about cave dwelling is that even when it is quite hot outside it will be pretty chilly inside the cave so bring something warm to wear!

It was a joy to stay in this quiet, cosy, comfortable and beautiful cave house. Three of us stayed in Göreme for New Years andGöreme was like a dream during the snow. Staying in Hasan's cave house was aesthetically pleasing as well as extremely central, local, well-equipped, warm and functional. We arrived rather late after midnight and Hasan was there to greet us and share information about the house along with tips in Göreme and the surrounding cities, and always returned and responded to calls and messaged. The home is spacious, with a small yet functional kitchenette, and extra amenities were always provided upon request. Hasan was also kind enough to organize a shuttle bus to and from the airport - even for our early and late flights. During the snow fall, the path to the house was cleared for us to comfortably enter and leave. If you are looking for something different from a hotel/hostel style accommodation, and want to stay away from the tourist crowd, then Hasan's cave house has everything needed to comfortably host four guests. I can't wait to visit again when the snow has melted!

Hasan cave house is simply awesome, the room, washroom and living room is spacious and cozy. The location is very strategic, and it's just 2 mins walk to the town and 10 mins walk to the highest point where u can watch sunrise and sunset. Hasan is a really nice host, and he's just staying next door in the same compound. He is a really interesting host who previously a chef and now a carpenter wannabe, so feel free to ask for a turkish cooking lesson with him if u want, and we did!! All ingredients are either from the garden or mountain! We enjoy our stay in the cave house so much!!
