HasanCave Self-Catering Flats in Goreme

Elif Cave Flat

Get down underground in your very own one-bedroom self-catering cave flat in the centre of Goreme, the coolest cave village in Cappadocia. We have two flats under our house, Elif Cave Flat and Sema Cave Flat (see separate listing) which can be rented on their own or together for larger groups. Each flat sleeps four in with one double bedroom, two single sedirs (traditional Turkish sofabeds), fully equipped kitchenette and stone tiled bathroom. Guests have access to the garden and terraces with a view over the weird and wonderful local rock formations. You can prepare your own meals with food from the local shops and markets or arrange for meals in the flat or at our family-run restaurant. Join us for woodcarving demonstrations in our cave workshop, music nights, or just relaxing in the garden (where the wi-fi signal is). There is no tv in the flat, just the sound of noisy sparrows.

Goreme is an amazing town with lots to see and do. From your cave flat you can walk 5 minutes to the centre of town with its lively restaurants, cafes and bars, or walk a bit longer to the Goreme Open-Air Museum, a World Heritage Site full of Byzantine churches. Explore the gorgeous valleys of Cappadocia just around the corner, full of wildlife, archaeology and wide-open spaces, by foot, bike, horse, or balloon! Or shop for souvenirs, see a Sema ceremony of whirling dervishes, unwind in the local Turkish bath, then relax with a tea or glass of local wine. A short bus ride away are other cave towns to explore, markets, ceramics, and valleys to walk in.

We are not a hotel or pension, but we can help with information and booking activities, like balloon flights and tours. Breakfast is not included but we can provide a grocery pack for your arrival. The easiest way to reach us is by shuttle from Nevsehir or Kayseri airport- we can book one to pick you up and bring you straight to our place.

We welcome families and guests with young children can use our travel cots, inflatable baby bath, bouncy chair and extra baby blankets.

Cappadocia is also beautiful during the winter months, when snow covers the rock formations and life is quiet. Our caves are centrally heated.

Please note that if you're planning to visit Turkey in 2014, you will not be able to get a visa on arrival at the airport. You will need to apply online for an e-visa at (website hidden).

hasan is a very cheerful person. Very willing to help. Showed us around tbe locality. Acclimatised us with shopping places.
Place gives a real feel of living in a cave and at same time its location keeps you near the Action.
His retaurant is also highly recommended.

  • We arrived punctually at the residence and Hasan was there to greet us, give us a quick tour of his carving workshop, and orient us to the adorable cave flat. Everything we needed was at hand. We appreciated the flat's easy walking proximity to the village center and to the Open Air Museum. For travelers seeking an unusual yet comfortable cave lodging, this apartment is a good choice. It's close to Cappadocia's geological and historical wonders but private enough that if you just want a quiet (yet still remarkable) evening at home, that too is possible.

Perfect for guests who like hiking and visiting the nearby Christian cave churches. And the bathroom/shower is great!

  • Staying in Hasan's cave house was amazing. We were a group of 4 and we fit very comfortably. The facilities are great, kitchen has all the essentials if you are going to be doing your own cooking. The cave is super cosy and just the place you want to come home to after a day enjoying Cappadocia. We couldn't recommend any better place, we absolutely loved our stay there are wish we could have had more time! Thanks a million Hasan- you were great, the perfect host, so friendly and helpful!

  • Hasan was a great host and his cave flat was a unique and interesting place to stay. The flat was in central Goreme, and the perfect size for a couple with everything we needed - and all this dug into a cave! Hasan organised our airport transfers and booked our balloon trip for us (the highlight of our stay) meaning we didn't have to worry about anything. The information pack also let us know about the many other attractions in the area, and we went on walks, and to underground cities on his recommendations. His restaurant (Goreme restaurant) is also the best place in town - and the original place for the pottery kebabs that are now ubiquitous.
We would definitely stay again and have already recommended the flat to friends.

  • We could not have been happier with our stay in Hasan's cave flat - I can honestly say this is my top airbnb experience to date!

The cave flat itself is very comfortable - a good temperature even when the temperatures outside are very hot and chilly (we experienced both in the three days we were there). It is easy walking distance from everything in Göreme, and we also walked to Uçisar, the open air museum, and to the Red Valley from our front door.

Mainly we were totally amazed by Hasan's hospitality. From taking us to spur of the moment sunset sightings at the lookout point over the town to sharing excellent conversation over coffee and food, Hasan made us feel both well-taken care of and yet not like tourists. We couldn't have asked for more attentive hospitality if we were visiting friends or family.

    Highly recommended!

  • The cave flats were great for our purposes! It was great to be able to cook for ourselves rather than eating out every night. Very close to everything in Goreme and Hasan was very helpful. The bedroom is wonderfully cozy. The kitchen is small but has sharp knives and everything you might need. The shower in the bathroom is amazing!!

  • Very spacious and cool accommodation- we needed extra blankets- but we were staying in a cave! The facility met our needs during our lovely visit to Goreme.

  • Hasan is a family-friendly guy. Accommodation was very clean and nicely maintained, near to Goreme open air museum as mentioned.

He even helped us to book transfer to Airport. Thanks Hasan for your help. I would recommend this accommodation.
