David was a great host, making us feel welcome and giving us an excellent intro to Santa Cruz. His suggestions were spot on and helped us make the most of our weekend.
The room was comfortable and quiet, and the coffee maker and water were welcome touches. The two cats, Chubby & Skinny, also helped us enjoy the house! Great location, walking distance to a number of restaurants and very close to Cliff Drive and the beach.
Not sure when we'll be back in Santa Cruz, but we'll have David's place on our radar!
This was one of my favorite Airbnb experiences. David is a fantastic host and amazing person. Everything was exactly as described on the listing and more. We had a great time riding trails and chatting away with a cold beer.
Hemos pasado unos días maravillosos en la casa de David y su mujer. En todo momento estuvieron atentos de que estuviéramos bien, ayudándonos en todo lo que estaba en su mano. Nos hizo de guía en una ruta mtb y lo pasamos genial. Totalmente recomendable.
Dave and Shawna were so welcoming: they went the extra mile in terms of recommending places to eat, bike routes, mountain bike trails that work for complete beginners as well as pros. They were also very generous and shared some gorgeous pancakes with us.
I'd definitely recommend a stay here: you won't regret it!
Great location, David and Shawna are very sweet. The kitties are such super bundles of love! I wish I had spent more time with everyone- they are so knowledgable on local activities! Thank you!
Let's just say that I had my standard reservation at Motel 6, this time in Watsonville, but stumbled onto "airbnb" site for first time and gave it a whirl. As it turned out, staying in Mister Robinson's Neighborhood ended up being Karma Convenient, if only because my scheduled road bicycle ride started just down the street. But since David and Shawna were also Green Environment Conscious and he was professionally active in the world of bicycling (more Mountain than my Roadie sensibility, but it translated beautifully and Crimson Tide, my bike, felt safe and warm and comfortable, too!), they were welcoming and welcome Hosts to my Santa Cruz Experience. At one point, having already eaten myself, they cooked up a little repast; because we got engaged in conversation, it looked and smelled terrific, and they insisted I sample some of it, I believe I ended up eating half of it! Oh, and Peet's Sumatra coffee in the spare room in which I slept, so took advantage of an early morning Two Cups in wake-up-and-languish before gearing up for (I'll use their favorite noun-as-adjective here, which I've done often since returning home) epic (!) pedal up Highway 1 into Pescadero (don't forget to get a slice of pie at Duarte's; I forgot and, oh darn [he says facetiously], I have to plan a return visit...)
Looking to get away from LA for a weekend, our two days with Dave & Shawna were a great compliment to a fantastic weekend.
Located on the west side of Santa Cruz, Dave's place is a short drive from some of the typical sites of SC, but in a much more interesting location we found. The location is within walking distance from a new craft brewery, a tasty gastropub, a natural foods store, a great coffee shop, and a handful of wineries.
Both Dave and Shawna were incredibly welcoming. They recommended a number of great hikes in local state parks and a breakfast spot nearby. If you're interested in sailing, surfing, or mountain biking Dave is definitely the right host.
Definitely recommend staying here if any of the above sounds interesting. Next time we're in Santa Cruz, we look forward to connecting again.
