Tolomeo Apartment is a unique flat on the 3rd floor of Viale dell'Arco dè Tolomei 27, right in the heart of Trastevere one of the most characteristic areas of Rome.
The apartment is about 100 square meters, fully furnished and it sleeps up to 6 people. It has a large living room with a double sofa bed, a dining area with a beautiful table for 6, 2 bedrooms, one with a queen bed, the other one with twin beds, 2 bathrooms, one of which with a beautiful bath and both equipped with towels and toiletries,a fireplace and a fully equipped kitchen with oven, fridge, coffee machine, freezer, microwave and cooking essentials to enjoy a fantastic home meal. Trastevere, the heart of the city, home to major Italian dialectical poet Gioachino Belli and the inspiration for another, Trilussa. It is precisely here that Roman plebeians were born and raised. Amid piazzas, its “Fontanone” fountain and cobblestoned streets, the “Trasteverini” led in ancient times the lives of the common people, whose pride and sincere character as well as beautiful women set them apart from the “nobility”. Today the district is still amongst Rome’s most beautiful and characteristic: the hub of nightlife and wining and dinning, an open air theatre of marvellous piazzas (Piazza Trilussa, Piazza Santa Maria in Trastevere, Piazza San Cosimato ..), churches and historical alleys, all of which are marked by that distinctive timeless “Roman” flavour.
There is nothing more pleasant than an evening stroll through Testaccio, the working-class district, situated between Via Marmorata, the Aurelian Walls and the River Tiber, where true Roma soccer supporters are born and bred. Sense the rather original atmosphere of a zone heaving with restaurants, bars and clubs, making the area around Monte Testaccio highly popular with night-lifers.
The Monte dei Cocci, or Monte Testaccio, is a real and proper “waste tip”, an artificial mound dating from the Roman era rising in the very heart of the city. The ancient Romans in fact used to dump their broken pieces of pottery and fragments of oil amphorae which had arrived for market and been unloaded at the nearby river port on the Tiber. This gathering pile of earthenware over time swelled into a hill, where today a pleasant stroll may be taken hunting for exciting relics dating from the third century A.D. Then in the following centuries, grottos were dug, used as cellars and stables, which have been turned into restaurants and disco-pubs, popular haunts for the nightlifers.

The apartment was located in a nice area and convenient for shops and restaurants. The apartment is large. Our plane was 5 hours delayed and we notified Sabrina right away so she did not make an extra trip to deliver the keys to us, however we were charged a 30E "inconvenience fee". Unfortunately, our bathroom had a stench that made me sick. Their was a significant amount of mold growing under the bathroom sink, completely unusable. When we notified Sabrina she said she knew of the smell and would come clean. This apartment never should have been rented with this situation. Sabrina apologized for the "inconvenience" but offered no reduction. The smell returned after they cleaned. We would like an inconvenience fee returned to us as well.
I apologized for the inconvenience and we sent immediatly a cleaner. The guest wrote en-email that everythings was ok. After 21.00 there is an extra charge to pay for the late check-in euro 30,00 and it's written in Airbnb.
We rent this apartment to a lot of guests and we have no complains for the bathroom. In the apartment there are a big sofa and 6 chairs.
We normally risolve all problems for the good stay of our guests, I don't know why they didn't call again and they wait one month to ask me to refund euro 30,00 ( the late check-in).
I am very disappointed maybe we could find a solution when they were here.
Our experience in this apartment was truly wonderful. Sabrina was so accommodating and the apartment was exactly as pictured, if not better! Loved the apartment; loved the neighborhood!
The apartment was ideal, clean, comfortable in ever way, close to excellent restaurants and everything we wanted to visit while in Rome. We were greeted by Sebastian who was warm and helpful, providing tips on where to eat etc. Sabrina organized transportation from the airport and to the train station after our stay and she was a perfect hostess. The courtyard view was charming and the ancient bell (1069AD) was a wonderful "alarm clock" each morning. This is a quiet haven in bustling Trastevere.
Very spacious apartment, excellent location! Plenty of great restaurants to choose from within 100 metres of the front door. Going into the Centro Storico via the Tiber Island is a great way to start each day, and it's also conveniently located for walking to the Vatican, Circus Maximus, Roman Forum and Colosseum. The bus to the catacombs of Domitilla and St Callixtus also stops nearby. The apartment has a modern TV with usb input, so you can even bring movies / music on a usb stick, for evenings or that occasional rainy day.
I recently stayed at dormiroma trastevere tolomeo apt and it was great!! We were a group of 4 and my baby, who had his own cot which Sabrina was kind enough to get for us.
The rooms were clean and exactly as portrayed in the pictures, very spacious and we found all the amenities necessary.
The location is very convenient as it is close to restaurants, little grocery stores and walking distance to all touristic spots (if you are prepared to walk - but there is also a taxi rank nearby)
The only downside is the stairs to get to the apt! 60 steps to get to the apt and it can get a little tricky when carrying a stroller etc.
We had a great time in rome and would rent this apt again. Thanks!!
I stayed with my family (husband and three young kids) in Sabrina's apartment for a week. Sabrina and Sebastian were very friendly and helpful - Sebastian met us at the apartment and Sabrina followed up with us promptly when we found the airconditioning in one bedroom was not working.
The apartment was as we expected. It was well furnished and spacious with lovely natural light in the living space and pretty views to neighbouring apartment buildings and roof terraces. The kitchen was equipped with only basic items and was without a conventional oven and toaster, both of which would have been useful. We could also not work the washing machine and plumbing/drainage in the bath and showers was very slow. None of these factors was a major problem although handwashing clothes for a week was slightly tedious.
The location was fantastic - Trastevere is a beautiful part of Rome in walking distance to many major tourist spots. Cafes/trattorias are plentiful and reasonably priced. The nearby main street, Viale Trastevere, is a broad tree-lined street with all kinds of shops and supermarkets.
The one drawback for us was the fact that the occupant of the apartment beneath us complained to us on our first day about the thumping noise made by my children as they moved around our apartment. We found it difficult to keep our kids quiet and were constantly reminding them to walk quietly. Families with young children might want to consider this when looking at this apartment.
Other than that we had a great stay and liked the apartment very much.
A pleasant stay! Clean, nice located, cozy and quite apartment.
Smooth check-in and out.
Sabrina was a good host. She responded to all questions very prompt.
Note, if you have bad knees or don't like stairs - that the apartment is at the top floor (3 or 4 floors) and no elevator.
Otherwise I can recommend this place to everyone staying in Rome, Trastevere.
