We loved staying in Franck's funky little house in Arles. It's ideally located to explore the town. The house is fully equipped with all necessities and we were well looked after by Chloe on our arrival who also gave us local advice and recommendations. Janet met us on our departure and was also great. Car parking right by the house is always available. If you get a chance to visit Arles be sure to visit some of the restaurants recommended by Franck. We certainly plan to return.
We had a fabulous week in Arles. Janet met us promptly on arrival and gave us a good run down on the local area. The apartment was plenty big enough for two people and a great location. It was hot so we had the windows open most of the time and many tourists took photos of the outside, gave us a wave and wanted to know what the significant of terracotta pig outside the upstairs was....I think the tour guides were trying to add some local content to the Place de Major. Franck also sent us a lovely welcome email. After a very disappointing airbnb experience in Paris it was a delight to have such a positive one at Franck's place. Will definitely be recommending to my Australian friends wanting to travel to the Provence area of France. Many thanks again.
Franck is a good host; communication was prompt. Franck works with a local lady, Janet, who is incredibly friendly and helpful. Franck's house in Arles is a little gem, it is comfortable and cool despite no air conditioning (day time highs were in excess of 35 C during our stay). There is a little terrace overlooking Place de Major where we would have an evening meal watching the swallows. I intend to return to Arles, and I will stay at Franck's house. If I could rate this a 6 I would.
The apartment was well located and homey, with a front-porch view onto a grand old church. Janet was very helpful and assisted us in navigating through the streets to get to the apartment. (A map with detailed directions to the apartment is a must, if driving.) We felt very comfortable here. Loved the shower. The parking lot was often full in the late afternoon/early evening (although it was a four-day weekend in France, so this may have been the reason) but we were eventually able to snag a spot. Street parking nearby, alongside the Coliseum, is free in the evenings and also an option. Arles is a lovely little city: low-key, with helpful people, and worth wandering around in without any particular agenda. The Coliseum at night is breath-taking. Would be happy to stay at this apartment, again, on my next visit to Arles.
Franck is a very responsive and attentive host for his charming and quaint apartment perfectly located in ancient Arles. Though he was not in town, Janet and her son were the friendly, helpful, English speaking local contacts. Roman arena one minute walk; good restaurants, Van Gough painting sites walk, and supermarket 5 minutes; parking right outside the front door; views of beautiful church. We were able to watch a May 1 (Labor Day) holiday parade and 1800s dress program, complete with horses, from the porch and windows overlooking the parking lot between the apartment and church. The apartment is large by French standards, interestingly old, charmingly quaint, and yes a bit quirky-funky. Comfortable big bed, nice shower. This wlll give you a feel for French living, staying in a friend's place, but if you're looking for a modern hotel alternative, this is not your spot.
We enjoyed both the house and the town a lot. Arles is lovely, and the town and its surroundings just perfect during this time of the year - good temperatures and not too crowded yet. The house offered everything we needed. It is nicely equipped and decorated. Tip: If you rent a car during your stay take the smallest one that's available! You will appreciate it when you have to navigate through the narrow streets of Arles.
We arrived in Arles and found the apartment. We were greeted by Janet. She was a lovely person to talk to. The apartment is quaint and unique. It has a great location and is very quiet at night for sleeping. We would definitely stay there again!
We spent a wonderful week in this beautiful and cosy appartment. The service of Franck and Janet was kind and excellent. The appartment is fully equipped and has a nice bathroom. We enjoyed the terrace as well. To be recommended.
We contacted Franck late, but he was very responsive and arranged everything quickly despite being out of the country. The apartment is very cute and is great for a couple.
