The Space

*** Special rates available between June 12th - 19th and July 21st - 30th ***

Nicely decorated one bedroom duplex apartment in Galway's prime location on The Long Walk, Spanish Arch. Sparkling clean, spacious, with a fridge full of necessary items, as well as welcome pack on arrival.

Upstairs bedroom has a balcony that overlooks a well kept garden courtyard. Home is decorated in a contemporary style. Lots of light and fresh air. 300 thread-count bed linen is used in both the main bed and the extra fold-up bed.

The bathroom contains soft towels, robes and cosmetics. The shower is electric, and bath water is heated by timer immersion should you need it.

The apartment is right in the hub of Galway, a stones throw from Quay St/Cross Street, but within its own courtyard so especially quiet at night.

Full security and 24 hour call-out available.

The Neighborhood

The Spanish Arch (An Póirse Spáinneach) in Galway city, Ireland, was originally an extension of the city wall from Martin's Tower to the bank of the Corrib, as a measure to protect the city's quays, which were located in the area once known as the Fish Market (now Spanish Parade). It was constructed in 1584.
In the 18th century the Eyre family of Eyrecourt, County Galway, created an extension of the quays called The Long Walk and created the arches to allow access from the town to the new quays. The Spanish Arch is located on the banks of the River Corrib directly across from The Claddagh.

In 1755, the arches were partially destroyed by the tsunami generated by the 1755 Lisbon earthquake.
Until 2006, part of the Arch housed the Galway City Museum. At that time, the museum was moved to a new, dedicated building located just behind the Arch.
The Long Walk is a promenade to one side of the Arches.

Getting around

The apartment is right downtown, no need for a hire car unless you plan to travel to Connemara.

  • This apartment is in a fantastic location and is extremely comfortable. Aoife was very helpful even booking a hairdresser appointment as we were attending a wedding. Aoife was easy to contact and happily answered our many questions. I can highly recommend this apartment.

  • Ms. D greeted us with some breakfast staples and a lovely warm personality. It was easy to keep in touch with her over our 6 night stay. I was surprised by the quiet courtyard we entered through. Most important to me, was the lovliness of the river when leaving the courtyard. Strolling along Long Walk is popular but I could sit on the small stone fence and listen to and watch the birds as the sun went down. It was an easy walk to many restaurants as musicians performed on the Quay. The bus station and the aquarium were in walking distance. A lovely place to stay. Thank you Aoife. Anne

  • This flat was basically perfect. Just as advertised it is less than five minutes from Shop Street, with loads of cool pubs, nice restaurants, and shopping. There are no waterside views from the flat itself, but the complex opens right out onto the bay. Inside the flat was charming, tidy, and plenty of space for three people. The landlady, Aoife, was super flexible with our arrival and departure times, and even stocked the little refrigerator with breakfast supplies and a bowl of fresh fruit. Long story short, I can't recommend this flat enough! A++!

  • I stayed in Aoife's flat with my parents for three nights and it was lovely! The location is really perfect and the flat is equipped with everything. Aoife was friendly and helpful giving us tips to get around. We absolutely recommend it!

  • Our stay at Ms. D. O'Connell's was lovely. The apartment is beautiful and centrally located right in the middle of town. The view outside of the front door is amazing, right on the river, steps away from the Spanish arch. The layout is small, but just right for two people. It's clean, comfortable, and the wifi is very convenient. It's a great deal for the money and the location could not be better. It's a great way to see Galway, with a full kitchen and washer/dryer. For Americans, the washer/dryer (all in one machine!) takes quite a long time, but your clothes have never been cleaner.

  • Our stay was absolutely amazing. The apartment is in a great location and is really nice. It was even stocked with some breakfast foods upon arrival. Aoife was flexible and helpful, even giving us some great restaurant recommendations. We couldn't have picked a better place for our weekend in Galway!

  • Location, location, location! First trip to Ireland and decided to make Galway our home base. This apartment ended up being a great place to launch our day trips from western Ireland. Super clean with all the amenities one needs for a relaxing vacation. Ms. D played a great host, even making sure enough provisions were in the fridge on our arrival.

Galway is an incredible city and quickly became our favorite of the island. The location/apartment is second to none, a couple blocks from all that is happening, but a quiet place to escape. Ms. D even provided a laptop to use the wifi for our stay. Highly recommend this place, well positioned to enjoy all that Galway has to offer. We will be back!!

  • We had a really good time in ms D's apartement. It is absolutely perfectly located - very central, yet in a quiet location, near to all the sights, the coach station, trainstation etc.
Ms D was most helpful, she gave us tips on bus tours (Lally tours) on restaurants and nice pubs - and even helped us with booking a restaurant for a busy Friday.
She was easy to get in contact with, responded instantely to mails and texts messages.
She left breakfast in the fridge for arrival. We felt very well looked out for, and would love to stay there again. Such a nice city too.

  • Nice clean apartment in perfect location. Owner helpful and accommodating to our date changes. Would stay again, but I
would have liked it more if there was a TV available.
