The space

Bright, sunny, beautiful and clean 2 bedroom unit in SE Portland with private entry. This is a private second floor apartment in a 1920's craftsman bungalow nestled among many large trees. Our family of 4 lives in the first level. We are very kid friendly.

Bedrooms: Bedroom 1: queen bed; Bedroom 2: two twins. One is a pull out trundle bed. Living room: sofa folds down to a double bed. Eco friendly mattresses with allergy covers on pillows. High quality bedding includes various density pillows, high thread count sheets, plush wool mattress topper, cotton quilts, fleece, wool and cotton blankets, down comforters.

For Children: Besides the two twin beds we have a Pack-N-Play portable crib and changing table, booster seat, rocking horse, children's' books, puzzles, board games, wooden blocks and toys.

Bathroom: Private bath with shower and thick towels.

Kitchen: The bright kitchen overlooks the back yard and is fully appointed with plates, cookware, utensils, toaster, coffee pot, baking sheets and more. We stock the kitchen with essentials such as sugar, flour, spices, cooking oils, etc., and always provide fresh coffee, tea and instant oatmeal.

Living Room: The 1920's era apartment features an eclectic mixture of modern and vintage furnishings. Gas furnace in the living room resembles a wood stove and keeps the unit cozy in the cold months. Air conditioning in both bedrooms.

Tech details: New flat screen HDTV and Prism cable TV network. Wireless internet with secure password. Clock radio with Ipod jack.

Guest access

Laundry: If guests require laundry facilities there is a washer and dryer located in the unfinished basement. Our family also uses the washer/dryer, but let us know when you want to do laundry and we will make sure its available! Key to basement is on kitchen hooks.

Outside: Guests are welcome to share and enjoy the front and back yards. Front yard has a swing or two hanging from the arbor in the warmer months. Backyard has a play-structure with slide and sandbox. There is a firepit and BBQ available for use, with stump seating around the firepit, as well as lawn chairs in the covered outdoor patio.

Interaction with guests

We are always happy to meet our guests and introduce ourselves, give directions, etc. Just give us a call/text/email or come knock downstairs. We also are happy to offer our guests complete privacy. We have a lockbox with a code for check-in convenience.

The neighborhood

Neighborhood: Located In the Division/Clinton dining district, we are within walking distance (1-2 blocks) to Stumptown Coffee, Tea Bar, the Woodsman Restaurant, and many other SE Portland restaurants and shops. Check out our guidebook for some of our favorites! We are also close to Hawthorne, where you can find Powell's Books, gift shops, vintage and antique stores, boutiques and more. Our home is in a quiet, tree-lined neighborhood with many 1920's era craftsman homes and cottages. Easy walk (10 minute) to organic local grocery store, New Seasons Market. To get downtown or to the rest of the city the Bus stop is 1 block away and around the corner, though Hawthorne and Division/Clinton streets are walkable. We are not far from beautiful Mt Tabor with hiking/biking trails, playgrounds, and a view of the entire city.

Getting around

Free street parking available, and never difficult to park right in front of our house. Bus lines are a block away - schedules available on Trimet online.

Other things to note

IMPORTANT: The home is the 2nd floor unit in a busy family home with 2 young children 5 and 9 years old. We try our best to create a quiet environment for our guests during late evening and early morning hours but sound carries easily in this nearly 100 year old home. Our kids definitely bustle around first thing in the morning as they head to school, as well as in the late afternoons. Both units (upper and lower) are completely separated and there is a private exterior entry into the 2nd floor apartment.

We all really enjoyed our stay in Becky's apartment. It was bright, clean and comfortable and such a great location on a quiet street but within walking distance to so many places. Would highly recommend it for anyone visiting Portland.

The Ravens Nest is super cute! Clean. Excellent location. And the kitchen and dinning room table were an added bonus for us with kids. We appreciated the kids toys in hand and the trundle bed :) We enjoyed our stay and appreciated Beckys quick communication and professionalism. Does get a bit warm inside if outside is hot, but thankfully we had open windows for air flow and fans! Thanks so much!

We loved the place. It is very kid friendly. They have all kinds of toys for the kids (2&3) to play with. In the back yard, they also have a slide so that's great. We don't enjoy night life so I don't know if there are any close by. There are lots of restaurants on division and they're all good. It just depends on you. Look at Yelp. Very good value and clean. All I was worried about were there kids making too much noise from jumping or walking too loud on the floor. Also, the first night took a while to get them to sleep so the youngest was crying and kept getting up and waking his sister up.

The Ravens Nest is a beautiful loft apartment within walking distance to great food and cool shops and a short bus ride downtown. Be sure to get some ice cream from Salt and Straw. It's worth the wait.

Becky's home is very cozy and family friendly. We have two kids under the age of 4, and it was the perfect amount of space for us. Loved how walkable it was to coffee shops and restaurants. We would definitely use again if we ever need a place to stay in Portland.

Beautiful little loft apartment with plenty of space to lounge and relax, but so close to everything Portland has to offer. Just steps away from one of the most popular stretches of street in PDX. Becky was a gracious host and made our stay very enjoyable. Will be sure to stay here next time visiting Portland.

I am a visual artist and also work as a pilates instructor offering clients one on one personal training out of my home studio space. Vince works remotely from home and often travels for work. He is a data analyst in the field of early childhood education.

We have two children, ages 5 and 9, and two friendly indoor/outdoor cats. They are often in the garden and love attention. Allergy Note: cats never get access to the airbnb unit, and the venting is separate.

We love gardening and spending time outdoors, camping, paddling, hiking and playing with our kids. We enjoy spending time in our neighborhood, walking/biking/skating to our organic grocery store, restaurants and coffee shops.

Our family enjoys music and you may sometimes faintly hear piano or ukelele from the airbnb unit.

We enjoy the opportunity to host diverse guests from all around the world. Our children have enjoyed meeting children from other countries, and learning little bits of other languages. Though we always enjoy meeting our guests, we are happy to offer our guests privacy. Feel free to come say hello, or simply enjoy the private space.
