Self contained apartment: double bedroom en suite shower room, open plan sitting room-kitchen next to Hyde Park, Lancaster Gate, Paddington. Secluded quaint mews road right in the centre of London. Great transportation links. Just refurbished
Welcome Dear Guest
A double bedroom, with en-suite shower room/sink/bidet/toilet, open plan sitting room and kitchen on the first floor. Perfectly located for central London; 2 story home in a quiet and quaint, traditional cobbled street (mews) next to Hyde Park. Quick and easy access to the bustling West End in one direction and Notting Hill in the other, yet next to the relaxing open spaces of Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens. Regents Park is also close by and Buckingham Palace and Camden Market are just a few tube stops away.
*Only bookings showing a photo of the guest will be accepted.
*The price does vary according to seasonality.
* Don't try to walk to the house with large wheelie bags. The cobble stones make it difficult. Better to take a taxi. Small wheelie bags are ok.
Recently re-built house in a charming cobbled street, that is lined with olive trees, shrubs, flowers and benches. At the far end of the mews there are the last working horse stables in central London.
Minimum stay 3 nights but 2 nights is possible by agreement.
The apartment is situated on the first floor (2nd floor USA terminology) with:
-En-suite shower room, sink, toilet, bidet
-Fresh bed linen, towels etc every check in
- Shampoo, conditioner, soap
-Fitted cupboards, shelves, storage
-Use of washing machine & tumble dryer
-No additional charges such as cleaning fees, deposits etc
-Your own keys
No official breakfast but help yourself to: tea, coffee, cereal, toast, jams, yoghurts, fruits, fruit juice etc.
No smoking in the house but there is a bench/table under the olive tree in front of the house which you are most welcome to use for drinking and smoking.
-300 metres walk to Hyde Park and Kensington Gardens
-300 metres walk to bicycle hire location
-300 metres walk to Lancaster Gate tube/metro station (Central Line: runs East-West across London)
-300 metres to bus stop
-5 min walk to Paddington Station (Heathrow Airport Express Train to/from airport, 20 min); 5 metro lines, open-top London bus tours
-5 min by metro/bus/taxi to Marble Arch, Oxford Street, Park Lane, Bayswater, Kensington, Notting Hill (Portobello Road)
10 minutes by metro to Soho, Piccadilly Circus, Leicester Square, Trafalgar Square.
15 minutes by metro to Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament, Westminster, Camden Market
-Plenty of coffee shops, restaurants and English pubs within 3 min walk. See my Guidebook. The Bathurst Deli, 200 metres, probably has the best croissant, pain-au-chocolate, and baguettes in London and is open from 7.00 am to 11.00 pm.
You share a common entrance to the house with me (I live on the ground/lower ground floors) but your apartment is on the first floor and is separate and private.
Interaction with Guests
I always try to be at the property in person to welcome you on arrival. After that it is up to you.
I am always happy to assist with knowledge of where to go and what to do in London
Other Things to Note
Large wheelie bags are difficult to pull down the cobbled street. I seriously suggest coming by taxi when you first arrive. And don't forget, there is one flight of stairs to carry the luggage up.
Relaxed. No smoking in the house but there is a bench/table under the olive tree, in front of the house, that you are welcome to use for smoking. Also good location for a bottle of chilled wine in the hot summer months.
Minimum 3 nights stay
Would greatly appreciate being informed as to your estimated time of arrival when making an enquiry/reservation.
Not obligatory but would appreciate shoes being removed once inside.
Parfait endroit pour séjourner à Londres si on veut être près de Hyde park. Tout comfort, très propre et très calme. Je recommande. Robert est également charmant et très accueillant.
We’ve stayed for 8 days at Robert’s house during our first airbnb journey. That was absolutely a wonderful experience!
The house was nicely decorated – just as cool as being shown in the pictures. We had all we needed during the stay including breakfast, fruits, coffee, tea, juice, etc.
The location is perfect – it’s right between Lancaster Gate & Paddington stations. Plus it’s just a 5-min walk to Hyde Park!
The place was also surrounded by nice restaurants and pubs. Robert did recommend some of his favourites to us but we just didn't have enough time to try them all (the Indian restaurant was great though!).
We thought it’s a bit challenging to carry our luggage to the first floor but Robert provided a great help. Even we had a late evening flight on the last day, Robert was pleased to offer late “check-out”. That gave a wonderful finish to our vacation.
We’ll definitely stay in Robert’s place if we visit London again!
This was our first trip with airbnb. The area between Paddington and Hyde Park is very nice. Its a quite street (mews) and a few steps away you will find pubs and restaurants. Robert was very friendly. He showed us the house. The place is fantastic, clean with a well equipped kitchen and a nice bathroom. You feel like a resident - not as a tourist. We will come back soon. Thanks for everything.
I’ve just stayed for 5 days at Robert’s house and what a great stay it was. Can’t praise the place and the owner enough. Nothing was too much trouble and Robert made me feel really welcome and at home.
His hospitality was fantastic and a very homely atmosphere all the time. He was always ready to help me with my questions and requests. Robert met me on my arrival and gave a short “excursion” around the house.
The house is comfortable, spotless and beautifully decorated with such love and taste that you understand how the owner loves it . Comfy bed with soft pillows, just how I like it. It was very warm inside (and I could change the temperature if I wished) – what I do appreciate.
The location is perfect. You can use a tube or a bus to get to London sights but if you wish – just walk there for the fit. Lovely spring Hyde Park with swans and squirrels…. For those who love such walks – it’s around the corner. And the Mews, quiet and atmospheric, keeps the soul of old London.
My flight departure was rather late at night and Robert kindly let me stay in the house all the day long (there were no new guests that day). My special thanks to you for that Robert.
Really lovely stay in a fabulous place with a fabulous host!
The home on the mews was very clean, charming and comfortable. Bathroom amenities were exceptional. The local neighborhood eats were excellent and the place is close to the Lancaster Gate tube station. Hyde Park is also just around the corner and fun to explore.
It's my first experience in Airbnb. Robert is a great host. The house is well located and lovely. You can find almost anything you like in here. The bedding is comfortable. Overall, an unforgettable experience in London. We would like to visit here again.
Stay was, on the whole, a pleasant experience. The location is good, walking distance to two tube stations on different lines that take you through London easily. The room is on the second floor with a sitting room just outside. We had a quite a bit of luggage so carrying them up the stairs was a tad challenging. There was some difficulty with the room light but Robert tended to the issue quickly and fixed it. Loved the look of the mews. Will recommend staying in this place.

Educated in England but born in Kenya and lived in India, Bangladesh, Qatar, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Singapore, USA and France. I have lived in London for the past 12 years. So I do know what it is to be a traveller and how a friendly face with local knowledge can be an added bonus to your trip.
I run my own little company from a home office in the house and thoroughly enjoy the area and all that it has to offer. The street must be one of the most friendly streets in London with neighbours sitting outside in the summer, drinking white, BBQs etc
